    G3 is a valiant effort by LG to stay relevant in 2023 but things have to change in 2024 (lower prices?) otherwise it will fall farther and farther behind as content catches up to the capabilities of QD-OLED. Even with blue pho-OLED in 2026, the WOLED with color filter will still be more diluted at higher luminances than the QD color converting layer for the highest performance TVs priced as flagship. WOLED is definitely relevant for the B and C series but when priced the same as QD-OLED, the G series will face more performance discrepancies as QD-OLED matures with each subsequent year.

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  Год назад +8

      LG G3 came really close but the downsides in game mode show that a lot of work has to be put into processing to get the G3 to match up close to the QD-OLED. I was really close to saying the G3 was the better TV if it wasn't for the uniformity and game mode because I love the picture quality overall in terms of the brightness and depth but the big issue is its just not as clean and thats what really hurt it. The big eye opener was that scene I showed at the end with the Ghostwire Tokyo cutscene in the white room the difference looks worse on camera but even in person you can see the clean white uniformity of the QD-OLED is a huge difference maker over a somewhat cloudy looking and slightly tinted WOLED panel,

    I really think i will be looking towards the LG G3 down the road with a price drop later in the year. To my eye the LG seems to push the blues and a little cooler as compared to the Samsung's reds, yellows, oranges and i think that is my preferance in color pallet. Both great TVs though

    If you’re a person who keeps their TVs for awhile I would recommend the G3. Samsung doesn’t even consider their QD-OLEDs as their top TVs (they place their QLEDs higher in priority) so support will be more lacking. The G3 is LG’s flagship and will get their highest attention and support. Also, the QD-OLEDs appear to be more prone to burn-in. LG has been mitigating burn-in for years so they know what they’re doing. Since the G3 is close or even better than the S95C in most scenes it’s just the smarter choice long term

I Def prefer the processor on the 95c also. Lg just went hey let's throw brightness at it and sacrifice all of this other stuff. Sure seems like the S95C slightly pulls ahead and many scenes (at least the vid we see on RUclips) but very close and the LG got a bit better in specially scenes that are closer to white scenes, which is to be expected with QD OLED. They’re just seems to be a lot of LG fan boys and Samsung haters. I have owned both Samsung and LG and I personally had better experience with my Samsung’s picture wise then the LG C2 I had. The one thing I will say 100% though is the S95C is honestly too thin in my opinion which I never thought was possible for a TV. I would be terrified to move my 77 inch to another room, even with two strong men moving it. I actually had to order a replacement as I followed some people’s advice and paid the $30 for the TV install and the original installers bent the panel and said they have never worked with a TV so thin originally. These replacements have got to be cost in Samsung and I bet next year’s model won’t be this thin. To be fair, once the TV is set up, though, it looks amazing! And I absolutely love my S95C so am a bit biased which I understand. The one downside is, of course, the Samsung operating system, which does lack ease of use, but once you get your picture mode set up, I never even going to the menu anyway.

    Brightness can be rectified by darkening the room. What you can't rectify on the LG is the colour accuracy given that WOLED is inherently flawed by the white sub-pixel.
    Any colour that is not white, black or a shade of grey where each sub-pixel is outputting the exact same levels of light is going to to be washed out either a little or a lot depending on the given colour and brightness.

    The S95C looks noticeably better. (I’ve seen both in person) Here’s what sticks out to me…the color on the Samsung is always factually more accurate at higher peak brightness, due to the nature of color volume on a QD OLED panel. It feels like this review is a bit subjective based off opinion and not fact. The S95C is better technology. Even Sony has shown that. Also depending on what retaileler you buy from (club stores) both will have that 5 year warrenty. And when it comes to regular tv or SDR the samsung will be more uniform with better color accuracy. They are both great TVs but it sound like a toss up when it’s really not. I’d personally be happy with either, as I already own an LG oled. LG was an maybe still is the king of oleds, but MLA won’t keep them there and I hope they adopt QD oled sooner than later.

    Which one to buy if the difference in price is 1000$ ? As absurd as it sounds G3 is 4000$ and S95c is 3000$ at 65 inch

    In sdr content, is the g3 really that much of a step from the g2? Like watching RUclips TV, gaming etc. I need a TV but I don't wanna spend an arm and a leg. I do see that highlights are better but on these reviews it looks all hdr content and some scenes it looks very 3d on g2 with highlights others it doesn't. I'm not an expert on this I dunno if it's really worth the extra cash

      Probably not really unless you want more brightness. For gaming if it’s between the G2 and G3 you may as well save money and get the G2 because it’s color performance will be very similar to the G3 in game mode since the G3 can’t use the color booster. G3 is better and it’s brighter but will it be worth the difference that’s going to be up to you to make that decision.

    Man, the green tint on the LG OLEDs are so noticeable. I got a C4 recently and I just can't unsee it now. I'm probably going to exchange for the S95C, especially after seeing this review. Thanks for posting!

      Yeah the green push can be noticeable on some sets it’s worse than others C series seems to suffer the most from it.

      @TechWithKG I fortunately just went into the white point settings and set the "Green" to about -25 which has definitely mitigated the issue quite a bit. I don't feel I should have to do that with how expensive these TVs are but what can you do.
      Thanks again for the post.
