This chat believes in quetzal supremacy. Anyways ufo 50 really does look like it has some really good games that feel nice to play. Devilition being a prime example. But Avianos was definitely the best of the ones played this stream. And the quetzal was the best ancestor, no doubt.
Brachio is the best ancestor. They generate bones, which you can then immediately use to generate more favor, which allows you to speed level through every single ancestor. (At max upgrades, you can max bones (9) and each favor costs 1, so you can basically max an ancestor in one turn.
I remember reading Derek Yu's blog yeaaaaaaaars ago while looking for Spelunky secrets. He had a post from like, 2006 or so about this ancient ZX Spectrum game called Cassette 50. It was 50-in-1 games written in Basic. As such, they were very simple and rudimentary, and mostly crap. Even thought they were bad, he liked the collection, since he had it as a kid. He's spent his entire life wanting to make this game, huh?
This is really impressive, not just really fantastic art and music, but really great design and interesting ideas - but they are interesting to the point that I feel like many of them would just be better off as their own games in fuller form.
I got this yesterday. Pilot Quest is like a mix of Cookie Clicker and the Paper Mario mod Black Pit, if you've ever seen gameplay of it. You only have a certain amount of time before you have to escape with the loot you've found, or else you lose it all.
Dear Vinny. You were saying Quetzal correctly. it's "Ketsal" just as you were saying. It means "bird" in Nahuatl. Specifically referring to the Resplendent Quetzal, the bird the god Quetzalcoatl (Ketsal koh-ah-t) is named after.
I got the game yesterday and out of 50 games I can confidently say I'll be able to beat maybe handful of them. I do highly recommend to Vinny to play more of Grimstone, maybe even outside of streams. Like 5 hours I've spent on this Final Fantasy like and while it is hard, even smallest of upgrades/build changes is cool and I like how you get to pick 4 out 8 survivors for it (I recommend the Doc, Shaman, Dancer and the Dog)
23:57 Mortol is like a combination of 'Splosion Man, Kirby turning into a brick, the player in Oblivion turning into a human projectile if they're running really fast and then suddenly become over-encumbered, and that one sidescroller puzzle platformer I can't remember the name of about throwing many knights into traps to form bridges and stuff.
I dunno, multiple sets of people with basically infinite time to make 50 games in an era where video game development (usually) has more respect (especially for indie devs) versus a cash grab probably made with a severe deadline in a time where games were treated like disposable garbage is kind of a bad comparison.
