Howdy, I’m in Canada, I’m a 50cc scooter rider myself. I have put on 5000kms each summer for the past two years of ownership. Such great fun to get out on. Although mine is a yamaha, not a whole lotta difference in performance. Just getting my fix of scooter stuff when you popped up,thought I’d say hello. Are you still riding it since you posted? I turn 67 next month, still a kid at heart. Hope things are well. Dean
Thanks for the message! Yes, I love my LaHonda. I can’t wait for it to be a little warmer- probably 2 weeks or so- So I can really start riding again! 5000k a year is a lot! Keep riding!
good review. i had two of these. the first air cooled the other liquid cooled. both got 127 mpg in Florida flat driving. great for around town and back roads. on faster roads just stay to the right like a bicycle. no problem with the mirrors and i am 5-11 and 190 lbs. a couple of guys took these on an alaskan tour so they are plenty rugged. also had a pcx 150 and now a burgman 200 that i ride everywhere up to 75 mph with 90mpg. scooters are the greatest
I live in Athens and I gotta say. I drive my Honda everywhere. Even on roads that are 50 - 55mph and have not had any issues with angry drivers as of yet. Course they usually will pass me, keeping their distance from me and or if I can get over to the bike lane to let them pass it's easy enough. Lots of people rides scooters here so I think with that said. Most drivers here are use to dealing with or passing us or riding behind us until they get the chance to pass. I too thought that it would make people mad. But they deal with it pretty well. At least I have never been flipped off, honked at or anything like that. I guess it differs from place to place and living in a college town. Seems more excepting towards scooters. Anyone who gets overly mad because another is not going fast enough for them, shouldn't be driving period.

Thanks Jim for the mirror extension tip. They are absolutely worthless from factory. I just purchased a 2022 Metro and I can't believe Honda has failed to address this critical safety issue. I paid a little more on Amazon, but had next day delivery with Prime. I could not stand riding it and not knowing if I needed to get over and allow someone to pass safely.
How is the rear rack holding up? The manual for the rear rack says it only can carry up to 6.6lbs. Have you been being careful with it and following the manual?
MewMew27 hi! In general I do not use one. But my battery did just die and I replaced it with a mid grade lithium battery. I have two cheep Walmart chargers though I use for my tractors etc
Just seems like there are so many affordable choices in the 125cc - 150cc category, which would negate all of the problems of keeping up with 45 MPH traffic. i.e. Honda Super Cub, Honda Grom, Kymco K-Pipe 125, Kymco Like 150i, Kymco Spade, Yamaha Zuma 125, etc. But your Honda is a fine machine, water cooled and fuel injected!
I think the main reason to get a 49cc is because its street legal in most states if not all I think with out insurance license endorsement or registration its like a perfect gift for a highschool student how wants to start going to school on there own or a good fun scooter
Hi. I just bought a 2017 Metro with 25 miles last weekend. Where did you get the rack for the top case? I've been looking online and I couldn't find one specifically for the 2017. I had bought before from Honda for my 2006, but it seems like they didn't make one for 2017 +. Thanks.
Great review, thanks for taking the time to do this. Picked up a 2020 model and was wondering if you could put a link to where I can get the proper mirror extenders?
I had a Kymco Agility for 10 years and this thing with the fuel injection starts so much easier--only one push of the starter. The only downsize for me is the platform. I wish it was a little longer like the Kymco. I can take a 5-gallon gas can with it to the station. But I'm a little cramped, unlike the Kymco.
Just compared wheelbases of the Honda Metro & Vespa Primavera scooters. Honda: 46.5 inches. Vespa: 52.3 inches. Riding inside a gated community or short hops to the corner store, shorter wheelbases are fine. If you plan to do any highway distances, the longer your wheelbase, the better.
As an artist, I think the Metro beats all comers, aesthetically---including Vespa. Think it would be perfect for short hops inside a gated community or to the local bodega. That said, I would buy one in a New York City second if Honda would bump-up the engine to a fuel injected 125cc & increase braking prowess with dual discs !
I have a Honda Metropolitan it's fuel injected very reliable. I also have a fuel injected Zuma very reliable. I went a few months ago to a Honda dealership purchase a new Ruckus two hours of waiting and they still couldn't get it to start they have problematic carburetors. And yes it was brand new.
Thanks Jim. I like your review. I am considering doing a 2020 Scooter Cannonball on a Metro, from Maine to California... I know I know... it will be brutal...

Here is another good point. If you drive that scooter, and I own a Metro II, you have to have a motorcycle license. I cant speak for other states, but in Minnesota you just got busted for driving without a license. Honda messed up and now sells the Metro, and people think they can buy and drive one. WRONG!!!! You will get a ticket unless you have a motorcycle endorsement, which most don't. 50cc has nothing to do with that. Beware of what the requirements are. Or find an old Metro II if you can. This one needs a motorcycle license.
There is no law to support your claim in NC. Some states like Pennsylvania require a motorcycle license regardless of cc displacement. it has nothing to do with Honda or the model. Welcome to “States Rights”.
If anyone has this moped please please share performance mods you have done and send me the link. I desperately need more top end and even some acceleration if possible
There are plenty of videos on Metropolitan mods. But these newer ones are harder to Mod. Easiest is to change the rollers/variator. But then you really have to choose: higher top end, or better acceleration. You can’t have both without a big bore kit. Or upgraded motor size. You only have 4 hp to work with.
A 50cc scooter will get you killed. I know, I had one. I'm lucky to be alive. I now ride a 2006 Vespa GT200, which has the advantage of being able to go 70 mph, and of also being carbureted. No computers, electronics, or electric fuel pump to fail.
@@eddiebaird8368 The Metropolitan in not even a good around town scooter. Around town where I live means 45 mph roads, where average traffic speed is 55 mph+. A Metropolitan will get close to 40 mph, but takes quite a while to get there. In town the only reasonably safe place to ride it is 25 mph residential streets, where average traffic speed is 30-35 mph. If you see a car coming up behind you, you can pull over and let them fly by. I also had a Yamaha Vino 125, and found it just adequate for in town use, with a top speed of around 55 mph. eBay “scooter mirror extenders” . Now I forget if they are 8 or 10mm thread
