For everyone looking to buy an aftermarket acoustic pickup- do not buy a transducer or piezo type. You want an ACTIVE PICKUP which means it will require a battery. There are several junk pickups out there. Nothing will ever beat a condenser with proper eq. No one ever records acoustic using the pickup. The pros always use a mic
Actually a lot of people have used similar pickups all the time. The entire genre of jazz guitar use passive magnetic pickups. And a good portion of guitar history only had these pickups before the invention of piezos. Pros never "always" use one thing, except making music they think sounds good. Cheap, old, "bad" products come into fashion all the time. Use what ever you can to make good sounds, just learn your tools to the fullest
