But he didn't really plan to fell in love... That happened. That's why Sesshomaru's mother feels somehow being cheated, but does nothing because she appreciates life in general and by that also the human beings. Both parents being so strong, they just knew that their child will be very strong... So instead of letting him become a huge destructive force, both choose to let him mature and show him that feelings are important. That's why the 3rd sword wasn't meant to be passed on to no one... Their father kept it because he was strong enough, so the sword couldn't take over... But he knew that Sesshomaru without feeling compassion, care for someone... He would destroy the whole world in his hunger for power, unaware of his own doom. That's why Sesshomaru's mother brought back Riu... She saw that her son would give his life to protect someone who is innocent... And that was their whole point. So I'm sure that his father knew that Sesshomaru will be able to accumulate his power into a sword one day... The sword maker also said it " so soon?!" So he also knew that this day would come. Anyway... It's a great anime about caring, cherish the life, protect your love ones... And of course becoming a responsible adult. It's a great one... And I hope they made a good job with the sequence.

Nuraku indeed was just powerful in manipulation. He was basically weak, all he did was put up barriers, steal people's powers and run when he's loosing
I agree! Narakus strength was in his Defense (shields/ recovery) and manipulation. He lacked strength and that is why he got others to do his dirty work.

Don't forget Tenseiga can protect him from otherwise lethal blows (see Ep. 35 for evidence) just like how Tetsusaiga's sheath protects Inuyasha from an otherwise lethal blow. But as for doing raw damage Menomaru has Sesshomaru outclassed 10 to 1 at that point. As for late series Sesshomaru? Once he gets Bakusaiga, that coupled with Tenseiga would effectively even his odds against even a full power Hyoga. Menomaru would be right to fear getting cut with Bakusaiga no matter which form he takes against Sesshomaru at that point. In fact it would pretty much be impossible to declare a winner early on...

There are, at different points in the series characters who would have killed sesshomaru if not for plot armor like Inuyasha saving him and suddenly devoloping weapons with zero explanation whatsoever. The baksaiga is quite literally the definition of plot armor, if not for this sudden ability based on nothing to create a necrotizing weapon, magatsuhi had defeated him and he would have died. In fact in terms of base skill magatsuhi out performed him in that entire battle. He couldn't even break narakus barriers late in the series without Inuyasha learning the adamant barrage. The same thing happened later, due to sesshomaru's overconfidence naraku had outsmarted sesshomaru and would have devoured him by absorption if not for Inuyasha slicing narakus arm off which freed sesshomaru. Most who parrot the "sesshomaru is unbeatable meme" have not even watched this entire long series let alone read in depth the lore. If you watch the entire show, its easy to see he's not invincible. Frankly kirinmaru has proven to be a more skilled fighter in the new series as well despite not having any plot armor. Menomaru is also an example of a powerful skilled warrior whose power didnt come from demon energy but actual martial arts, he was the only one who was able to block the wind scar with pure skill, something sesshomaru could never hope to achieve.

When Sesshomaru fights the evil spirit of the Shikon Jewel you could clearly see Sesshomaru was being bested. In the Naraku confrontation, Naraku wants to absorb Sesshomaru, that doesn't necessarily mean he could handle absorbing Sesshomaru.
Well, Sesshomaru’s mother was some kind of goddess who took care of the makai (hell), and his father Inu no Taisho was a TOP Yuokai. In the Demon’s world someone like Sesshomaru is like royalty. Thats why he rejected to use the Shikon jewel when Kagura offered to him, he knew he was already too OP for that shit. 😏

Yeah Naraku's powers are centered around manipulation, deception, and persuasion. His primary attacks are usually redirecting the opponent's energy (wonder where he got that idea from), stabbing or restraining with various parts of his body, and committing war crimes with his miasma. These aren't bad attacks imo, but pretty basic. His real power is the fact that he's so damn hard to kill that Marvel and DC villains call bullshit on his plot armor XD
Agree. In addition, I always saw Sesshomaru as the real hero of the series who needed to be made to learn compassion and love like his father. This is achieved through interactions with Inuyasha, Kagome, Jakken and Rin. Once he learns to love and protect others, Bakusaiga manifests itself.

I absolutely hate that in the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon series, they made have a romantic relationship and have children. Sesshomaru essentially adopting this human orphan and having this whole arc was one of my favorite things about Inuyasha. Them ending up as a couple totally creeps me out. Once I found that out about Yashahime, I couldn’t watch that series. I am trying to forget it exists.

It's worth noting that twice, once in the Anime and once in the third movie, Sesshomaru completely dominates InuYasha during a fight due to being angry enough to fight in earnest. In the Anime example, he even outright says he won't be going as easy on him as he had been.
inuyasha has never seriously fought against sesshomaru, if inuyasha fights in his 100% demon form and using tessaiga you can be sure that sesshomaru will suffer. I don't think inuyasha will win, after all he is the younger brother and even if he uses all his power as a demon it is possible that he is slightly below sesshomaru's level, but he would make sesshomaru sweat and bleed, you can be sure of that. Inuyasha may be a hanyou but in terms of skills he is on a par with daiyoukai's.
@@lorddemon8019 His first encounter is probably the closest to that, when he thought Kagome was dead. He became fast enough to damage some of Sesshomaru’s armor, but Sesshomaru didn’t seem concerned.
He always says stuff like that. But if he actually was going easy, why did he not only got defeated many times, but actually lost an arm? InuYasha doesn't have that as many powers, sure, but his human drive to go on makes him win against most foes, no matter how powerful. Aaaaaand in DnD, we learn that one OP monster that fights alone is just meat for a party. InuYasha is willing to team up, while Sesshoumaru is not. So, I guess that if they would face off, now that Sesshoumaru has the bakkusaiga, InuYasha would go for teamwork rather than "this is between me and him". Also, Sesshoumaru is only the most powerful dude because of his sword, as he doesn't have nearly the same amount of abilities as many of the yokais presented. Take that (or any sword) away, and he is back at clawing at his foes like any dog demon, as shown a few times in the anime.
@@mikeyy2s Pretty much, Magatsuhi was probably the one genuine struggle for Sesshomaru and that's because claws and poison are useless against someone with part of Naraku's body who just regenerates.
Fun fact: in movie 3 sesshomaru dragon strike attack over powered inuyasha blacklash wave. Which suggests that the black lash wave can be overcome if one applies and keep applying enough power in their attack.

I think the fact he doesn't use his dog form much shows just how powerful he is. I'm sure his father's biggest strength was his true form as it gave him an immense size and such but Sesshomaru's biggest feats were all in his pretty boy form...

Naraku... You do not need to be the strongest to be the most dangerous or the most annoying. Trying to kill him took forever and even then you had doubts if he wouldn't come back to life.
Yeah, if Sesshomaru got over his daddy issues quicker he would have killed him. When he did get over it Naraku had to use Rin to keep Sesshomaru from just killing him outright, though in the end Sesshomaru did pretty much solo the guy.
He needed to grow up and learn to protect the ones he cared about. Which his father have asked him before he met his demise. Once he has established that bakusaiga appeared making him surpass his own father.
He couldn’t kill him period. Only a unique combo of crazily powerful fighters could finally end naraku. A fat he seemed to accept quite happily at the end.
one of the things i find the best about sesshomaru’s strength is that since he has the tenseiga and the bakusaiga is that he can fight physical things/ppl/demons and non physical things like magatsuhi’s spirit and things in the underworld.

i definitely find sesshomaru the strongest character in the show. even with one arm and no weapon he can still kill demons easily. and i definitely wouldnt put naraku very high up. because without the shikon jewel (which i count as “cheating” on their strength), he’s about as strong as koga without a weapon. he’s more strong in intellectual and strategic ways. but some of his incarnations like kanna and moriomoru are stronger than him. i think i would put magatsuhi (if he counts as a demon) up higher though.
You say that, but Naraku only used the jewel to create incarnations. He only absorbed the jewel into his body for strength at the very final battle. All hisfighting before that was his own power.
Magatsuhi is not of this world so he isn't really a demon. Does only Sesshumaru can really defeat him as he weilds a sword that is also not of this world. But yeah, he is really strong.
Touga was an absolute chad. I'm not sure Sesshomaru surpasses him. I mean how many of Touga's "rivals" was he not able to kill or just sorta decided not to? Aside from the movies we know basically nothing about his personality, and this is one of those cases where knowing what he was like as a person heavily changes what we can guess about his power. There are a lot of unanswered questions about Inuyasha's family. Honestly I'd like a spin off or short series about his father and the time before Inuyasha's birth.
Yes, Sesshomaru did surpass him, it's literally said in the manga. Sesshomaru not wanting to kill Toga's 'rivals' doesn't really mean much since he doesn't really do much of anything he doesn't want to do unless he gets offended like with Naraku.
Yeah an incomplete dragon strike was stronger than backlash wave (tokijin wore out unable to deal a complete dragon strike). He then says it's a normal demon fang after all. I don't remember the dialogues exactly though.
Actually, if he DESTROYED the move, it would have destroyed the sword. He didn't DESTROY it. He created a power that equalled it, and that was at the extent of Tokijin's Power. If the fight and will between the brothers had continued, it's likely Sesshomaru's sword would have been shattered, if Sesshomaru wasn't killed. As it was, in Swords of an Honorable Ruler, the incomplete/weakened Dragon Strike NEUTRALIZED the Backlash Wave, and even then, because Inuyasha didn't want to kill Sesshomaru. He had been trying to convince his brother to work with him to stop Sounga. And let's not forget that Sesshomaru always coveted both Tetsusaiga (English dub spelling, deal with it Subbers) and Sounga. He wasn't left the swords because of his answer to their father's question before Toga went to rescue Izayoi and Inuyasha on the night Inuyasha was born: "Have you someone to protect?" Because of his answer, his inheritance was the Tenseiga instead: to teach him compassion.
@@mandyrobbins1041 Inuyasha would have known Tenseiga would have protected Sesshoumaru from any fatal damage as he had already bore witness to this once before. It doesn't seem like he can dial the strength of the Backlash Wave up or down, it is all or nothing. We do see him trying to throw multiples of it and even combining it with the Adamant Barrage, but I don't think Inuyasha has either the capability or inclination to hold it back. Also his surprise at Sesshoumaru's ability to outright overcome the Backlash Wave surprised him. If he could have done better, he would have thrown out a better one, but he didn't and knew he had to take that L. That said, if Inuyasha had been in any condition to fight after eating Sesshoumaru's Azure Dragon Strike, Seshsoumaru would not be able to muster another for at least some time.
@@MA16v3 the backslash wave uses its opponent power with the wind scar so if iam not wrong its at its strongest when he uses it on his opponent attack using the backslash wave on the demon energy of a yokai is much much weaker so an incomplete backslash wave vs an incomplete dragon strike seshomaru sword couldent handle it meaning the backslash wave was a little bit stronger
Naraku is one of the best villains in anime ever cause you just tend to hate him so damn much for basically causing everything wrong in the story ! But he never was strong what made him so powerful was his ability to be able to adjust to his situations and able to control who he saw fit and best for him bur worst for his enemies the ability to manipulate!
You forget tho, that after Tessaiga was bitten through, that Totosai said that InuYasha was relying on his *father's* strength to help defeat his enemies. That's the whole reason he needed to defeat the big, dragon demon; so that he can start relying on *his own* strength. I'm not saying he should have made #1, but I feel inuyasha should have made #2 at least. That's just my opinion tho
I feel like it was very poor writing to have Inuyasha be able to beat a rival of his fathers who practically killed him just so he could sink a single fang into him. The backlash wave in itself was a poor decision imo. The demons should just be able to absorb their own power back and render the move useless, meaning it shouldn’t be a move at all. Kagome should be the only one of the group to pierce through barriers, it would make her an irreplaceable member for Inuyasha to have. Some of these characters and skills were too op. Miroku’s wind tunnel constantly being negated by bees was another example of a skill not well thought out.
@@Tearituplikewasabi That's the whole point. Inuyasha had no chance against Ryukotsusei without the Backlash Wave. Either he learned how to use it, or he simply died. Basically the Backlash Wave is the enemy's own attack amplified by a Wind Scar. But it can only be used against enemies who are substantially more powerful than Inuyasha. Someone like Hyoga or Sesshomaru (who are god tier yokai) can overpower it with sheer force alone; that's why he had Kagome help out with her arrow against Hyoga in Movie 1, and also why Sesshomaru defeated the Backlash Wave with a Dragon Strike in Movie 3.
Depends a lot on the definition of strong. If you only include strenght in battle then yeah, Sesshomaru at the end and mainly Bakusaiga beats them all. But if you include intelligence then Naraku is clearly #1 imo. He comes up with genius plans all the time, alone at his first appearance where he came up with the idea of letting Sesshomaru use a human arm to control Tetsusaiga. Also he is pretty much unkillable like Voldemort, saving parts of him externally and regularly improves his barriers to be even undamageable. And yes he doesnt fight often but when he does, the protagonists are always put in fatal danger, most of the time some of them barely get away alive while poisoned from Saimyosho, Miasma, etc. Also his Barrier post Mt. Hakurei could even deflect the Backlash wave which almost killed all protagonists and which, throughout most of the show would have killed Sesshomaru as well(they just didnt let it happen until he got stronger). So depending on the point of view, Naraku can be number 1 as well.
I agree with this list but switching Kaguya and Menomaru’s position makes most sense to me. She should be the third not fifth. He would definitely not hold a candle to her in a fight, she would never take her foot off his neck. Princess Kaguya is an immortal half goddess and demoness that controls nature, illusions, absorbs anything, can stop TIME, and uses the Mirror of Life that comes with a plethora of powerful abilities. No sir lmfaooo she would break him down like he’s a fuckin Toy from Andy’s toy box.
Yeah i agree too but realistically, Inuyasha should be second. 1.His father was long dead before the series began. 2. He defeated BOTH Menomaru and Kaguya(no matter how you splice it). And 3. Many fans including AxelBeats himself(And haters), Admitted that while Inuyasha never surpassed his father, He does come close to doing so. Which means he's on his dad's level of power or Very close to it which is awesome. But This video is his opinion on who's the strongest in Inuyasha( Well except the 3rd point.).
I feel like Kaguya was wasted on that movie. Her design is stunning and she was really interesting imo. She should have just had her plan shut down with the gang escaping her castle, sealing her back in her own dimension or whatever it was (back on the moon??)

To be fair he kinda cranked up Tokijin into overdrive to do that (the evidence being that it was completely out of juice and needed to recharge afterwards). If he had Sounga he could do it with no effort.
I completely agree with your placements. I liked that u included the movie villians. Sesshomaru is also totallly my number 1 choice. I was hopeing he was number 1 from the start❤
Ehh, Sesshoumaru is the only demon in the entire series to meet the Backlash Wave head on and through only rage and brute force overcome it and with an objectively inferior weapon. Once he acquires Bakusaiga, it isn't a contest. The Backlash Wave would either fail to form(due to either the immense difference in power being projected or due to the properties of the Bakusaiga) or if it did form, would dissolve instantly.
Imagine Yura of the Hair partnering with Naraku. Basically they could constantly send wave after wave of hair and demons at Inuyasha's group until they succumbed to battle fatigue or died.
Calling it now: Bankotsu of the Band of Seven is in the Top 5, if not Top 3. The dude slew 1000 humans and 1000 demons to make his Banryu powerful enough to force a Backlash Wave out of Inuyasha. Not to mention his hand-to-hand combat skills are good enough to give Inuyasha a run for his money.

Sesshomaru is better at battle tactics, more durable less hot headed. He would win every fight if not for plot or his pride. In the end,he would take inu seriously and dealy with him the right way from the beginning.

Lord Hyoga/Menomaru was such a cool demon with a very interesting backstory. Would’ve liked to see or hear about him in the main series from time to time
Sesshomaru is indeed the strongest and the smartest, now in Yashahime, he achieved the title of the great demon and he become like his father in that timeline and generation.
I think some notable exceptions were missed here such as Shishinki , panther king , taigukumaru, the panther deva Toran, etc The panther king was able to defeat Inuyasha and Sesshomaru combined, and the panther deva Toran battled into a stalemate with Sesshomaru. Shishinki went toe to toe with both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru and It took their combined effort to send him to hell. Taigukumaru the bat king demon had the barrier which wind scar and backlash wave couldn’t penetrate. In my opinion these 4 Daiyokai were definitely more powerful than Mōryōmaru and Naraku.
Shishinki maybe, but the Panther King was only so strong because he was undead, one swing from Tensaiga killed him easily. And Taigukumaru did have a strong barrier, but the red Tessaiga absoebed it's power and Naraku later had a barrier that the red Tessaiga couldn't cut. So after Mt. Hakurei Naraku was stronger than him, Moryomaru in turn got even stronger than Naraku, which is why Naraku absorbed him.
Even though Sesshomaru may be a strongest demon as number 1 on this list, he's kind of like a father figure-ish to Rin who travels with him and Jaken. And that's due to someone to protect as he got that from his father even though he still thinks humans are not important or weak. I should also note that "someone to protect" is actually his father's exact words. But later on his true nature-like caring side comes through when caring or showing a bit of emotion to Rin especially when during the Final Act with Kohaku joins up with him to help his group when Sesshomaru goes off to take care of business. This is to show that you never judge a book by it's cover unless you know the real truth. And when it comes to strongest demons, he's definitely my favorite.
Axelbeats, I know this is your list for the strongest demons of Inuyasha, and I do find your reasoning acceptable, but there are some things I don't agree with: 1. This is the biggest problem that I feel needs to be brought up first. Inuyasha does not win most of his fights with Sesshomaru. If you actually rewatch all of their fights, including their fight in the 3rd Inuyasha movie, you would notice that Inuyasha only has 2 legitimate wins against Sesshomaru, both times were due to luck. Inuyasha has only always prevented Sesshomaru from stealing Tetsaiga. Sesshomaru has always beaten Inuyasha when they both are unarmed, has defeated Inuyasha before he learned how to use the windscar when he himself was unarmed, and has pretty much defeated Inuyasha in every battle he had the sword tokijin. Even their last known battle, which was inconclusive, was more of a test to see if Inuyasha was the true heir to Tetsaiga. 2. While the 4 war gods in their true form was powerful but I am not convinced that they were stronger than ryukotsusei. 3. Inuyasha in all but the third movie tends to overpower and/or defeat the movie villains by combining his backlash wave with Kagome's sacred arrows. 4. I think you underestimated Naraku's power a bit, since before he completed the shikon jewel, he was able to put up a barrier powerful enough to block the backlash wave. 5. Inuyasha has great power without Tetsaiga due to the demon blood he inherited from his father, his full demon form is also very powerful, and after his Tetsaiga was reforged using one of his fangs it became an extension of Inuyasha's strength. 6. I think you overestimate Kaguya's strength. She may have had formidable abilities but she was defeated originally by Miroku's grandfather before Inuyasha and his friends beat her. 7. I think that Toga should have been ranked 1st or 2nd place in terms of power. 8. It's debatable whether or not Sesshomaru truly surpassed his father in power, but it is possible when Sesshomaru gained Bakusaiga that he did. For the record, you made a great list of the most powerful demons of Inuyasha, and aside from these nitpicks I mostly agree with it.
I agree with most of your points, but there is a factor that isn't discussed in the entirety of the video and power scale; demonic energy/aura/power in general. I bring this up because, arguably, ryukotsusei was the strongest demon that Toga ever faced only being able to seal him away and get mortally wounded by him, everyone else as powerful as they were was never able to seriously injure him aside from that dragon. Presumably speaking, all of Toga's enemies were too powerful for the Backlash wave technique to work against, leading to him having to combat them by main strength. The panther king and the dragon we can say this factor held weight to for sure, were as with the moth demon and the story around their battle, we can say he was able to use the backlash wave against, this makes the other two enemies he faced arguably stronger in terms of demonic power given that the backlash wave technique can only work if the enemy is of equivalent power to the sword's wielder as stated by Totosi and the official books. This factor is what arguably proves that Inuyasha may not have surpassed his father in terms of physical strength but the strength of literal demonic power proven in the battle with Ryukotsusei. This factor arguably makes Inuyasha the 2nd or 3rd placer given that moth demon had absorb his ancestor's energy that Toga sealed away in order to be as high as he was ranked, and Toga given that Inuyasha was able to defeat the one real demon that was actually of equivalent to greater power than his dad, aside from his brother. We can debate wether or not Sesshomaru is stronger then Toga given that both of them could easily slaughter thousands of enemies in a single go if they chose to, and the fact that Sesshomaru was only said to surpass Toga by forging the Bakusaiga from his own energy and body rather than needing his sword made for him like Toga. So we could easily say that they are both equally powerful in demonic power, with maybe Toga being the physically stronger of the two given he's the size of an arguable mountain.
@@ethanknight3970 you make good points, and while Inuyasha did defeat Ryukotsusei with the backlash wave, it was stated in the third movie by totosai that Toga was 1000 stronger than Inuyasha, which is supported by the fact that Inuyasha was unable to stop himself from being possessed by sounga while Toga never let sounga control him.
@@StareachValcin you do have a point on the sounga, it is always stated that Toga is stronger than Inuyasha, however it is never said how he is stronger than Inuyasha that tips the scale here. given that the movies are not really canon to the series, one can argue that it still proves Inuyasha to be stronger than his dad in the terms of demonic energy, just not physical. Physical as in scientific make up; given that Toga was a full blood and incredibly powerful demon, where as Inuyasha is also incredibly powerful yet is still only half-demon, this factor accounts that Toga could physically "handle" the sword's power where Inuyasha's half-demon make up couldn't physically handle the power load the sword possessed, leading to him being easier to possess where if Inuyasha was a full blooded demon he probably could have and would have succeeded in bringing sounga under his control, given how stubborn a mule he happened to be, something he most likely inherited from none other than Toga himself, and in a way he would be equivalent to Toga in physical power terms as something of a copy of Toga given both their similarities, and how Inuyasha was able to do what Toga could not, Slay the Dragon.
@@ethanknight3970 fair point, but I do believe that the movies are canon to the series since they don't really contradict anything that happened in the series. In fact, the Inuyasha movies do fit well in the series, especially movie 3, which actually expands on Toga and his relationships with his sons, Inuyasha's mother Izayoi. Not to mention that the movie reveals that Inuyasha is 200 years old by the time he met Kagome. Also, you have to factor in for a time Inuyasha's demon blood, which he inherited from his father was too strong for him to handle and would have inevitably devoured his soul if he hadn't mastered Tetsaiga. Plus I am not entirely convinced that Inuyasha could overpower the sounga if he were a full demon, but that's a moot point since we're discussing Inuyasha's strength as a half demon. There's also too much evidence that suggests that Inuyasha is still weaker than his father power wise, such as when totosai brought up that Tetsaiga is powerful enough to absorb demonic energy but Inuyasha couldn't handle that much energy. Also, Sesshomaru with tokijin has bested Inuyasha after he mastered Tetsaiga, and this was before Sesshomaru officially "surpassed" their father. Inuyasha may be powerful with Tetsaiga, and he did legitimately defeat ryukotsusei when his father failed to do so, but with statements made in the series and movies, I don't think that Inuyasha was more powerful than his father Toga. If anything, Inuyasha found his own strength and doesn't need the power of his father to protect himself.
@@StareachValcin very true on many points made; it is also a question as to wether or not sesshomaru himself could actually control the sword too, we will never know as he never tried to use it; as such, going by how Inuyasha responded with the sword, the idea of him being able to conquer Sounga is both a probable and non probable achievement if he were a full-blood demon. It just goes to say if he were a full-blood demon like sesshomaru, the end result could go either way as stated by totosi as well, given that he believed that the only demon who stood a chance of controlling the sword was sesshomaru. And as stated before and strictly speaking, as Inuyasha is as a half-demon, in terms of physical power his dad does have him beat as a full-blooded demon, and it would be hard to compete with a demon the size of an arguable mountain. We can only really presume, that if Inuyasha was born a full-blood, he would be much more comparable to sesshomaru in the realm of physical capabilities being at least 10 times stronger, faster, more durable, and at least 10 times more powerful in terms of demonic energy than he already is, otherwise as he currently is he stacks up equally to if not a little better than Koga in terms of physical capabilities, which is arguably pretty well-off given that Koga can handle pretty much any enemy he faces aside from sesshomaru, being that sesshomaru is a great demon were Koga is more of a middle level demon, of which still doesn't stand much of a chance against a demon like sesshomaru to begin with and Inuyasha may not hold his own well against Sesshomaru, he does hold his own better than most everyone else that has ever faced sesshomaru in the entirety of the series, and you can't quite imagine, or at least I can't imagine, Koga still standing after taking an arm through the gut like Inuyasha did that one time against non other than sesshomaru. When Inuyasha found his own strength, and didn't need his dad's to protect him anymore, he proved that his own power was greater than his dad's when he defeated the dragon his dad could not defeat, this in turn is the point that proves Inuyasha is more "powerful" than his dad in demonic energy terms rather than physical strength, which is the main point I've been stressing.
Goshinki was way too strong to be allowed to keep alive. That beast smoked Inuyasha and was about to eat his entire squad alive; his biggest mistake was starting with Kagome. That forced Inuyasha to go full demon to take him out.
A lot of the demons from earlier on in the series are really tough to rank, because we don't know how they would fare against a Meido or Bakusaiga. The only one who holds up is Ryukotsusei because he fought Toga in his prime and basically killed him. Also, this list was obviously made before Yashahime, but I wonder where Kirinmaru would rank
My personal favorite amongst really strong demons in the series was Ryokotsusei. He was sure badass and really strong. I also like the fact the he didn't didn't mock Inuyasha for being a half demon. Either he didn't know or just didn't give a f*ck. It was also cool when he attacked Naraku's spying puppet. He was also the main reason why Toga died so yeah.. there you go...
I can see why you placed Sesshoumaru as the strongest yokai in this series. This is mostly attributed to not only his physical strength and overall stamina, but also his psychological strength. He was never seduced by the amazing offers of what the Shikon Jewel had to offer, as he relied on his own skill. Moreover, Sesshoumaru is a conscientious, focused, and accurate combatant, so no one can break him or shake him even if they tried, thus being one step further above his opponents. In Inuyasha's defense, he does bear super strength, super stamina, and super speed, which are the traits I have always admired about Inuyasha when I was an 11-year-old boy. Even without his Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha does prove himself to be an extremely capable fighter, especially when he has punches that can overpower anyone or anything. Moreover, I have been completely fascinated by his full yokai form at that young of an age, which was why in my AU headcanon, he would transform into his full yokai form whenever he gets savagely beaten down and use his claws, strength, and fangs to bring his foes down. One character I believe is just as strong but not really at the level of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha is Ayame the female Northern Yoro yokai warrior princess. Yes, she only appeared in a grand total of four episodes. However, the mere fact that she has super speed, endurance, and fantastic combat prowess does make her a force to be reckoned with. Shipping-wise, I am also a huge Sesshoumaru x Ayame and Inuyasha x Ayame shipper, which explains my passion for Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame.
@@saklee1777 Good question and here's my answer. Ayame trained the natural way ever since she was a child and she has been trying to get better at it as time went on. Whereas Koga mainly used the Shikon Jewel shards to accelerate his speed and strength without fully relying on his own strength. Keep in mind that when Naraku stripped him of his Shikon Jewel shards in Inuyasha: The Final Act, he just up and left because he was weak without them and did not avenge the death of his comrades.
I think Inuyasha is underated in term of power, I mean there is a huuuuuuge change between Inuyasha in ep 1 and Inuyasha in the Final Act and he's half a demon not a full one. Plus as opposed to other characters I think he has more place to grow stronger. His sword can be the most powerful if he just relax lol. the guy is hot headed
Menomaru appears very early in the series so beating the hell out of Inuyasha is no big deal back then, so I won't consider him super strong on his own. His father was killed by Inuyasha's father, but Inuyasha's father was fine after the battle so Menomaru's father is strong but not that strong. Now adding Menomaru's power on top of his father power, at most he gets close to Inuyasha's father but no way surpassing him. Windscar is a skill that cut the line between two aura, Inuyasha later can use it whenever he wants but it must still has something to do with the aura, the fact that Inuyasha can't use it against Menomaru is because he is too weak, that's all. Let's compare Inuyasha's windscar and Sesshomaru's windscar, Inuyasha's windscar can plow some dozens meters, Sesshomaru's windscar goes through a freaking moutain (I'm talking about the time when he has the human's arm given by Naraku). So there is a huge difference when different people using the same technique. If you use Inuyasha as a reference, it may not be accurate. You rank Ryukotsusei below Menomaru but you have to understand he was seal for hundreds of years already before fighting with Inuyasha, he is not at his peak. At his peak he can almost kill Inuyasha's father, the one who has the three sword of heaven, earth, and hell. As explained above, Menomaru is not that strong even with his father's power. So I say Ryukotsusei is stronger than Menomaru. You seem to rely on Inuyasha's backlash wave a lot, but you forget a lot of time Inuyasha uses it with the biggest bug in the series, Kagome's sacred arrow (Kikyou's arrow is even more powerful). This sacred arrow to demon is like Krytonite to Superman. It can goes through all demonic barrier and reduces the strongest demon's defense to zero. So using something like that to rank how strong a demon is, not fair at all.

You severely undervalued Naraku in this. The guy had mastered the jewel, to the point that he was able to create new shards on his own. His miasma was so strong, that he was able to fabricate new jewel shards out of it. His curses were so strong, that he was able to injure Sesshomaru. Hell, even Kikyo WITH Midoriko's power acknowledged they weren't collectively strong enough to keep Naraku at bay. A lot of people see Naraku getting cut up in the show and take it as a sign of weakness, but no one realizes that he was just testing his body over and over again. Whenever he got into a fight and part of his was cut off? He saw that as weakness and got rid of the fragile bits of his body. His goal wasn't to come out and be immediately strong, it was to assimilate over time and grow gradually. We see it in both the anime and the manga. Let's also not forget that Naraku had the ability to cheat death, not only with himself but with others. He had help resurrecting Kikyo, and he learned how to do it on his own ... Being able to bring back people like the Band of Seven. His power was great enough to melt the claw of Toga-o, which means his miasma was at a power that could've melted the Great Dog General. The reason Naraku lost to InuYasha? Plot Armor, it's a wonderful thing.
I agree Sesshoumaru should be number 1. Once he lost interest in iniyashas sword and recieved his own totosai states he has finally surpassed his fathers teachings. Also when inuyasha finally uses the windscar on Sesshoumaru early on his own weapon saves him again making torosai state how do you kill someone who in unable to be killed. He senses Inuyasha in his demon form and could easily kill him but instead tells Kagome how to make Inuyasha normal. He is the one to truly destroy Naraku. There are so many examples but aside from his first real fight where he loses his arm to Inuyasha and underestimates the fact Inuyasha can use the tensagia he is very OP. Naraku would not be so powerful without the jewel. When offerred a piece Sesshoumaru rejects it. If he had shikon shards the guy would be unstoppable.
I have to admit I was very upset as we got closer to number one and Sesshomaru was nowhere on this list... My heart skipped a beat when I got there. I personally agree. There have been many hints throughout the series that Sesshomaru would take his fathers place and be one of the most powerful demons to exist.
Sometimes this show make no sense like inuyasha beat ryokotsei with one sword with 2 move and inotaisho cant defeat ryokotsei with three swords and physically 1000x stronger than inuyasha this make no sense
Well, if you watch the fight again, Im sure its stated that Ryokotsei was severly weakened by his fight the Inu no Taisho. So he wasn't at his strongest when fighting Inuyasha
It make no sense because you are unable to see the story complete picture. Take a look at Inu no Taisho (Inu&Sesho father), he even died from a random samurai lords because a grave injuries he had after the battle with ryokotsei. If Inu no Taisho can succumbed to death just like that, of course ryokotsei fate can be doomed too. It basically tell how weakened they are, after they battle against each other.

Honestly, I would say that Inuyasha probably ended up AS strong as his father Toga. Toga never mastered Meido which is why he used So'unga and Inuyasha did learn how to manage if not control his demon side. We never got to see the Inu no Taisho very much so it is still speculation. Ironically, I think Inuyasha ended up as strong as he is from all of his duels against Sesshomaru. Naraku forced Inuyasha to think but Sesshomaru forced Inuyasha to git gud.
Minor thing about Moryomaru; the fire and lightning thing is just in the anime. In the manga, he only had lightning, has he only managed to kill and absorb Kinka. Inuyasha absorbed Ginka, granting him the Flaming Tessaiga. But it's implied Moryomaru discarded Kinka's parts because of the internal resonance happening when the Flaming Tessaiga attacked, damaging Moryomaru from the inside.
What if I told you, that Tokijin was not creating the lightning attacks, in reality the lightning attacks were the same as his daughter's, his own power channeled through Tokjin. Tokijin was a medium to channel and pinpoint his own power through, this is also the reason Tokijin got fried when he unleashed too much power through it. Now I admit this may be a bit of a retcon with Yashahime so dunno if it was out by sept 7 2020.

I know you’re saying naraku isn’t all that powerful but what you’re missing is he has the power to split off and create others from himself (effectively probably nerfing himself and showing how much demonic power he has to do it.. also being able to create a barrier very strong shows incredible AP. I doubt the war gods could kill him.
Honestly i would have been 20x times more excited to see an Inuyasha prequal favouring 1 Toga's exploits 2. How Sesshomaru got so strong and his youth and 3.Inuyasha's childhood perhaps but i know that part would have been tricky. There would have been alot more room for action that the old fans could relate to and solve some of the intriguing bits about their past.

The best thing about the show was the evolution of Sesshomaru, he eventually managed to surpass his dad the great dog demon, regenerate his hand and literally create out of nowhere something that might be the most powerful weapon in the entire series...
Most accurate description of Nuraku, is like what I tot, throughout the show, Nuraku has always been hiding, everytime he face the good guys, he always ended up defeated & runs into hiding, I don't see him being strong as all, don't get why all feared him so badly except for those controlled by him.

Agree... But I still think that they're father was far more ... He was even a very very wise demon. Because everything he knew about his son Sesshomaru, he wanted to have a half demon child... But he didn't really plan to fell in love... That happened. That's why Sesshomaru's mother feels somehow being cheated, but does nothing because she appreciates life in general and by that also the human beings. Both parents being so strong, they just knew that their child will be very strong... So instead of letting him become a huge destructive force, both choose to let him mature and show him that feelings are important.
That's why the 3rd sword wasn't meant to be passed on to no one... Their father kept it because he was strong enough, so the sword couldn't take over... But he knew that Sesshomaru without feeling compassion, care for someone... He would destroy the whole world in his hunger for power, unaware of his own doom.
That's why Sesshomaru's mother brought back Riu... She saw that her son would give his life to protect someone who is innocent... And that was their whole point.
So I'm sure that his father knew that Sesshomaru will be able to accumulate his power into a sword one day... The sword maker also said it " so soon?!" So he also knew that this day would come.
Anyway... It's a great anime about caring, cherish the life, protect your love ones... And of course becoming a responsible adult. It's a great one... And I hope they made a good job with the sequence.

Don't forget Tenseiga can protect him from otherwise lethal blows (see Ep. 35 for evidence) just like how Tetsusaiga's sheath protects Inuyasha from an otherwise lethal blow. But as for doing raw damage Menomaru has Sesshomaru outclassed 10 to 1 at that point.
As for late series Sesshomaru? Once he gets Bakusaiga, that coupled with Tenseiga would effectively even his odds against even a full power Hyoga. Menomaru would be right to fear getting cut with Bakusaiga no matter which form he takes against Sesshomaru at that point. In fact it would pretty much be impossible to declare a winner early on...
@@cameraredeye3115 It's really not difficult to prove if you've truly versed yourself in the series lore. There are, at different points in the series characters who would have killed sesshomaru if not for plot armor like Inuyasha saving him and suddenly devoloping weapons with zero explanation whatsoever. The baksaiga is quite literally the definition of plot armor, if not for this sudden ability based on nothing to create a necrotizing weapon, magatsuhi had defeated him and he would have died. In fact in terms of base skill magatsuhi out performed him in that entire battle. He couldn't even break narakus barriers late in the series without Inuyasha learning the adamant barrage. The same thing happened later, due to sesshomaru's overconfidence naraku had outsmarted sesshomaru and would have devoured him by absorption if not for Inuyasha slicing narakus arm off which freed sesshomaru. Most who parrot the "sesshomaru is unbeatable meme" have not even watched this entire long series let alone read in depth the lore. If you watch the entire show, its easy to see he's not invincible. Frankly kirinmaru has proven to be a more skilled fighter in the new series as well despite not having any plot armor. Menomaru is also an example of a powerful skilled warrior whose power didnt come from demon energy but actual martial arts, he was the only one who was able to block the wind scar with pure skill, something sesshomaru could never hope to achieve.

When Sesshomaru fights the evil spirit of the Shikon Jewel you could clearly see Sesshomaru was being bested. In the Naraku confrontation, Naraku wants to absorb Sesshomaru, that doesn't necessarily mean he could handle absorbing Sesshomaru.
Well, Sesshomaru’s mother was some kind of goddess who took care of the makai (hell), and his father Inu no Taisho was a TOP Yuokai. In the Demon’s world someone like Sesshomaru is like royalty. Thats why he rejected to use the Shikon jewel when Kagura offered to him, he knew he was already too OP for that shit. 😏

yea, he often fights with "demon puppets" which he upgrades to incarnations as the show goes on. His role is more puppet master than fighter

Yeah Naraku's powers are centered around manipulation, deception, and persuasion. His primary attacks are usually redirecting the opponent's energy (wonder where he got that idea from), stabbing or restraining with various parts of his body, and committing war crimes with his miasma. These aren't bad attacks imo, but pretty basic. His real power is the fact that he's so damn hard to kill that Marvel and DC villains call bullshit on his plot armor XD

Agree. In addition, I always saw Sesshomaru as the real hero of the series who needed to be made to learn compassion and love like his father. This is achieved through interactions with Inuyasha, Kagome, Jakken and Rin. Once he learns to love and protect others, Bakusaiga manifests itself.

I absolutely hate that in the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon series, they made have a romantic relationship and have children. Sesshomaru essentially adopting this human orphan and having this whole arc was one of my favorite things about Inuyasha. Them ending up as a couple totally creeps me out. Once I found that out about Yashahime, I couldn’t watch that series. I am trying to forget it exists.

It's worth noting that twice, once in the Anime and once in the third movie, Sesshomaru completely dominates InuYasha during a fight due to being angry enough to fight in earnest. In the Anime example, he even outright says he won't be going as easy on him as he had been.
inuyasha has never seriously fought against sesshomaru, if inuyasha fights in his 100% demon form and using tessaiga you can be sure that sesshomaru will suffer. I don't think inuyasha will win, after all he is the younger brother and even if he uses all his power as a demon it is possible that he is slightly below sesshomaru's level, but he would make sesshomaru sweat and bleed, you can be sure of that. Inuyasha may be a hanyou but in terms of skills he is on a par with daiyoukai's.

His first encounter is probably the closest to that, when he thought Kagome was dead. He became fast enough to damage some of Sesshomaru’s armor, but Sesshomaru didn’t seem concerned.
He always says stuff like that. But if he actually was going easy, why did he not only got defeated many times, but actually lost an arm? InuYasha doesn't have that as many powers, sure, but his human drive to go on makes him win against most foes, no matter how powerful. Aaaaaand in DnD, we learn that one OP monster that fights alone is just meat for a party. InuYasha is willing to team up, while Sesshoumaru is not. So, I guess that if they would face off, now that Sesshoumaru has the bakkusaiga, InuYasha would go for teamwork rather than "this is between me and him". Also, Sesshoumaru is only the most powerful dude because of his sword, as he doesn't have nearly the same amount of abilities as many of the yokais presented. Take that (or any sword) away, and he is back at clawing at his foes like any dog demon, as shown a few times in the anime.

Pretty much, Magatsuhi was probably the one genuine struggle for Sesshomaru and that's because claws and poison are useless against someone with part of Naraku's body who just regenerates.
Fun fact: in movie 3 sesshomaru dragon strike attack over powered inuyasha blacklash wave. Which suggests that the black lash wave can be overcome if one applies and keep applying enough power in their attack.
That's a good point; especially since most of these bosses have been beaten by Backlash Wave (with the help others at times) the fact that Sesshouaru can overpower it.

Naraku... You do not need to be the strongest to be the most dangerous or the most annoying. Trying to kill him took forever and even then you had doubts if he wouldn't come back to life.
And yet once he got slashed by Bakusaiga in the final battle, that was the beginning of the end for him.

Sess could kill naraktu the first time he saw him, if Naraku was not hiding. And many more times. That's why Naraku was running away.
Yeah, if Sesshomaru got over his daddy issues quicker he would have killed him. When he did get over it Naraku had to use Rin to keep Sesshomaru from just killing him outright, though in the end Sesshomaru did pretty much solo the guy.
He needed to grow up and learn to protect the ones he cared about. Which his father have asked him before he met his demise. Once he has established that bakusaiga appeared making him surpass his own father.

one of the things i find the best about sesshomaru’s strength is that since he has the tenseiga and the bakusaiga is that he can fight physical things/ppl/demons and non physical things like magatsuhi’s spirit and things in the underworld.

i definitely find sesshomaru the strongest character in the show. even with one arm and no weapon he can still kill demons easily. and i definitely wouldnt put naraku very high up. because without the shikon jewel (which i count as “cheating” on their strength), he’s about as strong as koga without a weapon. he’s more strong in intellectual and strategic ways. but some of his incarnations like kanna and moriomoru are stronger than him. i think i would put magatsuhi (if he counts as a demon) up higher though.

You say that, but Naraku only used the jewel to create incarnations. He only absorbed the jewel into his body for strength at the very final battle. All hisfighting before that was his own power.
Magatsuhi is not of this world so he isn't really a demon. Does only Sesshumaru can really defeat him as he weilds a sword that is also not of this world. But yeah, he is really strong.
Touga was an absolute chad. I'm not sure Sesshomaru surpasses him. I mean how many of Touga's "rivals" was he not able to kill or just sorta decided not to? Aside from the movies we know basically nothing about his personality, and this is one of those cases where knowing what he was like as a person heavily changes what we can guess about his power. There are a lot of unanswered questions about Inuyasha's family. Honestly I'd like a spin off or short series about his father and the time before Inuyasha's birth.

Yes, Sesshomaru did surpass him, it's literally said in the manga. Sesshomaru not wanting to kill Toga's 'rivals' doesn't really mean much since he doesn't really do much of anything he doesn't want to do unless he gets offended like with Naraku.

Yeah an incomplete dragon strike was stronger than backlash wave (tokijin wore out unable to deal a complete dragon strike). He then says it's a normal demon fang after all. I don't remember the dialogues exactly though.
Actually, if he DESTROYED the move, it would have destroyed the sword. He didn't DESTROY it. He created a power that equalled it, and that was at the extent of Tokijin's Power. If the fight and will between the brothers had continued, it's likely Sesshomaru's sword would have been shattered, if Sesshomaru wasn't killed. As it was, in Swords of an Honorable Ruler, the incomplete/weakened Dragon Strike NEUTRALIZED the Backlash Wave, and even then, because Inuyasha didn't want to kill Sesshomaru. He had been trying to convince his brother to work with him to stop Sounga. And let's not forget that Sesshomaru always coveted both Tetsusaiga (English dub spelling, deal with it Subbers) and Sounga. He wasn't left the swords because of his answer to their father's question before Toga went to rescue Izayoi and Inuyasha on the night Inuyasha was born: "Have you someone to protect?" Because of his answer, his inheritance was the Tenseiga instead: to teach him compassion.
@@mandyrobbins1041 Inuyasha would have known Tenseiga would have protected Sesshoumaru from any fatal damage as he had already bore witness to this once before. It doesn't seem like he can dial the strength of the Backlash Wave up or down, it is all or nothing. We do see him trying to throw multiples of it and even combining it with the Adamant Barrage, but I don't think Inuyasha has either the capability or inclination to hold it back. Also his surprise at Sesshoumaru's ability to outright overcome the Backlash Wave surprised him. If he could have done better, he would have thrown out a better one, but he didn't and knew he had to take that L. That said, if Inuyasha had been in any condition to fight after eating Sesshoumaru's Azure Dragon Strike, Seshsoumaru would not be able to muster another for at least some time.

Naraku is one of the best villains in anime ever cause you just tend to hate him so damn much for basically causing everything wrong in the story ! But he never was strong what made him so powerful was his ability to be able to adjust to his situations and able to control who he saw fit and best for him bur worst for his enemies the ability to manipulate!
You forget tho, that after Tessaiga was bitten through, that Totosai said that InuYasha was relying on his *father's* strength to help defeat his enemies. That's the whole reason he needed to defeat the big, dragon demon; so that he can start relying on *his own* strength. I'm not saying he should have made #1, but I feel inuyasha should have made #2 at least. That's just my opinion tho

I feel like it was very poor writing to have Inuyasha be able to beat a rival of his fathers who practically killed him just so he could sink a single fang into him. The backlash wave in itself was a poor decision imo. The demons should just be able to absorb their own power back and render the move useless, meaning it shouldn’t be a move at all. Kagome should be the only one of the group to pierce through barriers, it would make her an irreplaceable member for Inuyasha to have. Some of these characters and skills were too op. Miroku’s wind tunnel constantly being negated by bees was another example of a skill not well thought out.

Basically the Backlash Wave is the enemy's own attack amplified by a Wind Scar. But it can only be used against enemies who are substantially more powerful than Inuyasha. Someone like Hyoga or Sesshomaru (who are god tier yokai) can overpower it with sheer force alone; that's why he had Kagome help out with her arrow against Hyoga in Movie 1, and also why Sesshomaru defeated the Backlash Wave with a Dragon Strike in Movie 3.

Depends a lot on the definition of strong. If you only include strenght in battle then yeah, Sesshomaru at the end and mainly Bakusaiga beats them all. But if you include intelligence then Naraku is clearly #1 imo. He comes up with genius plans all the time, alone at his first appearance where he came up with the idea of letting Sesshomaru use a human arm to control Tetsusaiga. Also he is pretty much unkillable like Voldemort, saving parts of him externally and regularly improves his barriers to be even undamageable. And yes he doesnt fight often but when he does, the protagonists are always put in fatal danger, most of the time some of them barely get away alive while poisoned from Saimyosho, Miasma, etc. Also his Barrier post Mt. Hakurei could even deflect the Backlash wave which almost killed all protagonists and which, throughout most of the show would have killed Sesshomaru as well(they just didnt let it happen until he got stronger). So depending on the point of view, Naraku can be number 1 as well.
I agree with this list but switching Kaguya and Menomaru’s position makes most sense to me. She should be the third not fifth. He would definitely not hold a candle to her in a fight, she would never take her foot off his neck.

I feel like Kaguya was wasted on that movie. Her design is stunning and she was really interesting imo. She should have just had her plan shut down with the gang escaping her castle, sealing her back in her own dimension or whatever it was (back on the moon??)

To be fair he kinda cranked up Tokijin into overdrive to do that (the evidence being that it was completely out of juice and needed to recharge afterwards). If he had Sounga he could do it with no effort.

Ehh, Sesshoumaru is the only demon in the entire series to meet the Backlash Wave head on and through only rage and brute force overcome it and with an objectively inferior weapon. Once he acquires Bakusaiga, it isn't a contest. The Backlash Wave would either fail to form(due to either the immense difference in power being projected or due to the properties of the Bakusaiga) or if it did form, would dissolve instantly.
Imagine Yura of the Hair partnering with Naraku. Basically they could constantly send wave after wave of hair and demons at Inuyasha's group until they succumbed to battle fatigue or died.

I think some notable exceptions were missed here such as Shishinki , panther king , taigukumaru, the panther deva Toran, etc The panther king was able to defeat Inuyasha and Sesshomaru combined, and the panther deva Toran battled into a stalemate with Sesshomaru. Shishinki went toe to toe with both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru and It took their combined effort to send him to hell. Taigukumaru the bat king demon had the barrier which wind scar and backlash wave couldn’t penetrate. In my opinion these 4 Daiyokai were definitely more powerful than Mōryōmaru and Naraku.
Shishinki maybe, but the Panther King was only so strong because he was undead, one swing from Tensaiga killed him easily. And Taigukumaru did have a strong barrier, but the red Tessaiga absoebed it's power and Naraku later had a barrier that the red Tessaiga couldn't cut. So after Mt. Hakurei Naraku was stronger than him, Moryomaru in turn got even stronger than Naraku, which is why Naraku absorbed him.
Even though Sesshomaru may be a strongest demon as number 1 on this list, he's kind of like a father figure-ish to Rin who travels with him and Jaken. And that's due to someone to protect as he got that from his father even though he still thinks humans are not important or weak. I should also note that "someone to protect" is actually his father's exact words. But later on his true nature-like caring side comes through when caring or showing a bit of emotion to Rin especially when during the Final Act with Kohaku joins up with him to help his group when Sesshomaru goes off to take care of business. This is to show that you never judge a book by it's cover unless you know the real truth. And when it comes to strongest demons, he's definitely my favorite.

Axelbeats, I know this is your list for the strongest demons of Inuyasha, and I do find your reasoning acceptable, but there are some things I don't agree with:
1. This is the biggest problem that I feel needs to be brought up first. Inuyasha does not win most of his fights with Sesshomaru. If you actually rewatch all of their fights, including their fight in the 3rd Inuyasha movie, you would notice that Inuyasha only has 2 legitimate wins against Sesshomaru, both times were due to luck. Inuyasha has only always prevented Sesshomaru from stealing Tetsaiga. Sesshomaru has always beaten Inuyasha when they both are unarmed, has defeated Inuyasha before he learned how to use the windscar when he himself was unarmed, and has pretty much defeated Inuyasha in every battle he had the sword tokijin. Even their last known battle, which was inconclusive, was more of a test to see if Inuyasha was the true heir to Tetsaiga.
2. While the 4 war gods in their true form was powerful but I am not convinced that they were stronger than ryukotsusei.
3. Inuyasha in all but the third movie tends to overpower and/or defeat the movie villains by combining his backlash wave with Kagome's sacred arrows.
4. I think you underestimated Naraku's power a bit, since before he completed the shikon jewel, he was able to put up a barrier powerful enough to block the backlash wave.
5. Inuyasha has great power without Tetsaiga due to the demon blood he inherited from his father, his full demon form is also very powerful, and after his Tetsaiga was reforged using one of his fangs it became an extension of Inuyasha's strength.
6. I think you overestimate Kaguya's strength. She may have had formidable abilities but she was defeated originally by Miroku's grandfather before Inuyasha and his friends beat her.
7. I think that Toga should have been ranked 1st or 2nd place in terms of power.
8. It's debatable whether or not Sesshomaru truly surpassed his father in power, but it is possible when Sesshomaru gained Bakusaiga that he did.
For the record, you made a great list of the most powerful demons of Inuyasha, and aside from these nitpicks I mostly agree with it.
I agree with most of your points, but there is a factor that isn't discussed in the entirety of the video and power scale; demonic energy/aura/power in general. I bring this up because, arguably, ryukotsusei was the strongest demon that Toga ever faced only being able to seal him away and get mortally wounded by him, everyone else as powerful as they were was never able to seriously injure him aside from that dragon. Presumably speaking, all of Toga's enemies were too powerful for the Backlash wave technique to work against, leading to him having to combat them by main strength. The panther king and the dragon we can say this factor held weight to for sure, were as with the moth demon and the story around their battle, we can say he was able to use the backlash wave against, this makes the other two enemies he faced arguably stronger in terms of demonic power given that the backlash wave technique can only work if the enemy is of equivalent power to the sword's wielder as stated by Totosi and the official books. This factor is what arguably proves that Inuyasha may not have surpassed his father in terms of physical strength but the strength of literal demonic power proven in the battle with Ryukotsusei. This factor arguably makes Inuyasha the 2nd or 3rd placer given that moth demon had absorb his ancestor's energy that Toga sealed away in order to be as high as he was ranked, and Toga given that Inuyasha was able to defeat the one real demon that was actually of equivalent to greater power than his dad, aside from his brother. We can debate wether or not Sesshomaru is stronger then Toga given that both of them could easily slaughter thousands of enemies in a single go if they chose to, and the fact that Sesshomaru was only said to surpass Toga by forging the Bakusaiga from his own energy and body rather than needing his sword made for him like Toga. So we could easily say that they are both equally powerful in demonic power, with maybe Toga being the physically stronger of the two given he's the size of an arguable mountain.

Physical as in scientific make up; given that Toga was a full blood and incredibly powerful demon, where as Inuyasha is also incredibly powerful yet is still only half-demon, this factor accounts that Toga could physically "handle" the sword's power where Inuyasha's half-demon make up couldn't physically handle the power load the sword possessed, leading to him being easier to possess where if Inuyasha was a full blooded demon he probably could have and would have succeeded in bringing sounga under his control, given how stubborn a mule he happened to be, something he most likely inherited from none other than Toga himself, and in a way he would be equivalent to Toga in physical power terms as something of a copy of Toga given both their similarities, and how Inuyasha was able to do what Toga could not, Slay the Dragon.
@@ethanknight3970 fair point, but I do believe that the movies are canon to the series since they don't really contradict anything that happened in the series. In fact, the Inuyasha movies do fit well in the series, especially movie 3, which actually expands on Toga and his relationships with his sons, Inuyasha's mother Izayoi. Not to mention that the movie reveals that Inuyasha is 200 years old by the time he met Kagome. Also, you have to factor in for a time Inuyasha's demon blood, which he inherited from his father was too strong for him to handle and would have inevitably devoured his soul if he hadn't mastered Tetsaiga. Plus I am not entirely convinced that Inuyasha could overpower the sounga if he were a full demon, but that's a moot point since we're discussing Inuyasha's strength as a half demon. There's also too much evidence that suggests that Inuyasha is still weaker than his father power wise, such as when totosai brought up that Tetsaiga is powerful enough to absorb demonic energy but Inuyasha couldn't handle that much energy. Also, Sesshomaru with tokijin has bested Inuyasha after he mastered Tetsaiga, and this was before Sesshomaru officially "surpassed" their father. Inuyasha may be powerful with Tetsaiga, and he did legitimately defeat ryukotsusei when his father failed to do so, but with statements made in the series and movies, I don't think that Inuyasha was more powerful than his father Toga. If anything, Inuyasha found his own strength and doesn't need the power of his father to protect himself.
@@StareachValcin very true on many points made; it is also a question as to wether or not sesshomaru himself could actually control the sword too, we will never know as he never tried to use it; as such, going by how Inuyasha responded with the sword, the idea of him being able to conquer Sounga is both a probable and non probable achievement if he were a full-blood demon. It just goes to say if he were a full-blood demon like sesshomaru, the end result could go either way as stated by totosi as well, given that he believed that the only demon who stood a chance of controlling the sword was sesshomaru. And as stated before and strictly speaking, as Inuyasha is as a half-demon, in terms of physical power his dad does have him beat as a full-blooded demon, and it would be hard to compete with a demon the size of an arguable mountain. We can only really presume, that if Inuyasha was born a full-blood, he would be much more comparable to sesshomaru in the realm of physical capabilities being at least 10 times stronger, faster, more durable, and at least 10 times more powerful in terms of demonic energy than he already is, otherwise as he currently is he stacks up equally to if not a little better than Koga in terms of physical capabilities, which is arguably pretty well-off given that Koga can handle pretty much any enemy he faces aside from sesshomaru, being that sesshomaru is a great demon were Koga is more of a middle level demon, of which still doesn't stand much of a chance against a demon like sesshomaru to begin with and Inuyasha may not hold his own well against Sesshomaru, he does hold his own better than most everyone else that has ever faced sesshomaru in the entirety of the series, and you can't quite imagine, or at least I can't imagine, Koga still standing after taking an arm through the gut like Inuyasha did that one time against non other than sesshomaru. When Inuyasha found his own strength, and didn't need his dad's to protect him anymore, he proved that his own power was greater than his dad's when he defeated the dragon his dad could not defeat, this in turn is the point that proves Inuyasha is more "powerful" than his dad in demonic energy terms rather than physical strength, which is the main point I've been stressing.
I loved the moment when Goshinki managed to break Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga, he was special but too shame he didn't last long enough
Goshinki was way too strong to be allowed to keep alive. That beast smoked Inuyasha and was about to eat his entire squad alive; his biggest mistake was starting with Kagome. That forced Inuyasha to go full demon to take him out.
It's pretty obvious that Sesshomaru is the strongest demon. His Bakusaiga is *broken*

A lot of the demons from earlier on in the series are really tough to rank, because we don't know how they would fare against a Meido or Bakusaiga. The only one who holds up is Ryukotsusei because he fought Toga in his prime and basically killed him.
Also, this list was obviously made before Yashahime, but I wonder where Kirinmaru would rank

My personal favorite amongst really strong demons in the series was Ryokotsusei. He was sure badass and really strong. I also like the fact the he didn't didn't mock Inuyasha for being a half demon. Either he didn't know or just didn't give a f*ck. It was also cool when he attacked Naraku's spying puppet. He was also the main reason why Toga died so yeah.. there you go...
Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Kikyo will always be my favorite Inuyasha characters. In order: Lord Sesshomaru, Lady Kikyo, Lord Inuyasha and Sango.

Menomaru is actually one of my favorite characters from Inuyasha. I was happy he made it into such a high spot.
I can see why you placed Sesshoumaru as the strongest yokai in this series. This is mostly attributed to not only his physical strength and overall stamina, but also his psychological strength. He was never seduced by the amazing offers of what the Shikon Jewel had to offer, as he relied on his own skill. Moreover, Sesshoumaru is a conscientious, focused, and accurate combatant, so no one can break him or shake him even if they tried, thus being one step further above his opponents.
In Inuyasha's defense, he does bear super strength, super stamina, and super speed, which are the traits I have always admired about Inuyasha when I was an 11-year-old boy. Even without his Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha does prove himself to be an extremely capable fighter, especially when he has punches that can overpower anyone or anything. Moreover, I have been completely fascinated by his full yokai form at that young of an age, which was why in my AU headcanon, he would transform into his full yokai form whenever he gets savagely beaten down and use his claws, strength, and fangs to bring his foes down.
One character I believe is just as strong but not really at the level of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha is Ayame the female Northern Yoro yokai warrior princess. Yes, she only appeared in a grand total of four episodes. However, the mere fact that she has super speed, endurance, and fantastic combat prowess does make her a force to be reckoned with.
Shipping-wise, I am also a huge Sesshoumaru x Ayame and Inuyasha x Ayame shipper, which explains my passion for Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame.
but how did ayame even have super speed? koga had it too but that was because of his shikon jewel shards.
@@saklee1777 Good question and here's my answer. Ayame trained the natural way ever since she was a child and she has been trying to get better at it as time went on. Whereas Koga mainly used the Shikon Jewel shards to accelerate his speed and strength without fully relying on his own strength. Keep in mind that when Naraku stripped him of his Shikon Jewel shards in Inuyasha: The Final Act, he just up and left because he was weak without them and did not avenge the death of his comrades.
I think Inuyasha is underated in term of power, I mean there is a huuuuuuge change between Inuyasha in ep 1 and Inuyasha in the Final Act and he's half a demon not a full one. Plus as opposed to other characters I think he has more place to grow stronger. His sword can be the most powerful if he just relax lol. the guy is hot headed
Btw Sesshomaru can only use light whips in the anime. In the manga he uses his claws or fur.

Menomaru appears very early in the series so beating the hell out of Inuyasha is no big deal back then, so I won't consider him super strong on his own. His father was killed by Inuyasha's father, but Inuyasha's father was fine after the battle so Menomaru's father is strong but not that strong. Now adding Menomaru's power on top of his father power, at most he gets close to Inuyasha's father but no way surpassing him. Windscar is a skill that cut the line between two aura, Inuyasha later can use it whenever he wants but it must still has something to do with the aura, the fact that Inuyasha can't use it against Menomaru is because he is too weak, that's all. Let's compare Inuyasha's windscar and Sesshomaru's windscar, Inuyasha's windscar can plow some dozens meters, Sesshomaru's windscar goes through a freaking moutain (I'm talking about the time when he has the human's arm given by Naraku). So there is a huge difference when different people using the same technique. If you use Inuyasha as a reference, it may not be accurate.
You rank Ryukotsusei below Menomaru but you have to understand he was seal for hundreds of years already before fighting with Inuyasha, he is not at his peak. At his peak he can almost kill Inuyasha's father, the one who has the three sword of heaven, earth, and hell. As explained above, Menomaru is not that strong even with his father's power. So I say Ryukotsusei is stronger than Menomaru.
You seem to rely on Inuyasha's backlash wave a lot, but you forget a lot of time Inuyasha uses it with the biggest bug in the series, Kagome's sacred arrow (Kikyou's arrow is even more powerful). This sacred arrow to demon is like Krytonite to Superman. It can goes through all demonic barrier and reduces the strongest demon's defense to zero. So using something like that to rank how strong a demon is, not fair at all.

You severely undervalued Naraku in this. The guy had mastered the jewel, to the point that he was able to create new shards on his own. His miasma was so strong, that he was able to fabricate new jewel shards out of it. His curses were so strong, that he was able to injure Sesshomaru. Hell, even Kikyo WITH Midoriko's power acknowledged they weren't collectively strong enough to keep Naraku at bay. A lot of people see Naraku getting cut up in the show and take it as a sign of weakness, but no one realizes that he was just testing his body over and over again. Whenever he got into a fight and part of his was cut off? He saw that as weakness and got rid of the fragile bits of his body. His goal wasn't to come out and be immediately strong, it was to assimilate over time and grow gradually. We see it in both the anime and the manga. Let's also not forget that Naraku had the ability to cheat death, not only with himself but with others. He had help resurrecting Kikyo, and he learned how to do it on his own ... Being able to bring back people like the Band of Seven. His power was great enough to melt the claw of Toga-o, which means his miasma was at a power that could've melted the Great Dog General. The reason Naraku lost to InuYasha? Plot Armor, it's a wonderful thing.
I agree Sesshoumaru should be number 1. Once he lost interest in iniyashas sword and recieved his own totosai states he has finally surpassed his fathers teachings. Also when inuyasha finally uses the windscar on Sesshoumaru early on his own weapon saves him again making torosai state how do you kill someone who in unable to be killed. He senses Inuyasha in his demon form and could easily kill him but instead tells Kagome how to make Inuyasha normal. He is the one to truly destroy Naraku. There are so many examples but aside from his first real fight where he loses his arm to Inuyasha and underestimates the fact Inuyasha can use the tensagia he is very OP. Naraku would not be so powerful without the jewel. When offerred a piece Sesshoumaru rejects it. If he had shikon shards the guy would be unstoppable.

I have to admit I was very upset as we got closer to number one and Sesshomaru was nowhere on this list... My heart skipped a beat when I got there. I personally agree. There have been many hints throughout the series that Sesshomaru would take his fathers place and be one of the most powerful demons to exist.
I think Naraku is too low. He didn't should arguably be the first. He was immortal and had many different types of hax.
Sometimes this show make no sense like inuyasha beat ryokotsei with one sword with 2 move and inotaisho cant defeat ryokotsei with three swords and physically 1000x stronger than inuyasha this make no sense
Well, if you watch the fight again, Im sure its stated that Ryokotsei was severly weakened by his fight the Inu no Taisho. So he wasn't at his strongest when fighting Inuyasha
It make no sense because you are unable to see the story complete picture. Take a look at Inu no Taisho (Inu&Sesho father), he even died from a random samurai lords because a grave injuries he had after the battle with ryokotsei.
If Inu no Taisho can succumbed to death just like that, of course ryokotsei fate can be doomed too. It basically tell how weakened they are, after they battle against each other.
Especially since Inuyasha defeated ryokotsei quite easily with the backlashwave, which Inotaisho should have been able to use too.

Honestly, I would say that Inuyasha probably ended up AS strong as his father Toga. Toga never mastered Meido which is why he used So'unga and Inuyasha did learn how to manage if not control his demon side. We never got to see the Inu no Taisho very much so it is still speculation. Ironically, I think Inuyasha ended up as strong as he is from all of his duels against Sesshomaru. Naraku forced Inuyasha to think but Sesshomaru forced Inuyasha to git gud.

Minor thing about Moryomaru; the fire and lightning thing is just in the anime. In the manga, he only had lightning, has he only managed to kill and absorb Kinka. Inuyasha absorbed Ginka, granting him the Flaming Tessaiga. But it's implied Moryomaru discarded Kinka's parts because of the internal resonance happening when the Flaming Tessaiga attacked, damaging Moryomaru from the inside.

What if I told you, that Tokijin was not creating the lightning attacks, in reality the lightning attacks were the same as his daughter's, his own power channeled through Tokjin. Tokijin was a medium to channel and pinpoint his own power through, this is also the reason Tokijin got fried when he unleashed too much power through it. Now I admit this may be a bit of a retcon with Yashahime so dunno if it was out by sept 7 2020.

I know you’re saying naraku isn’t all that powerful but what you’re missing is he has the power to split off and create others from himself (effectively probably nerfing himself and showing how much demonic power he has to do it.. also being able to create a barrier very strong shows incredible AP. I doubt the war gods could kill him.

Toga's exploits 2. How Sesshomaru got so strong and his youth and 3.Inuyasha's childhood perhaps but i know that part would have been tricky.

Most accurate description of Nuraku, is like what I tot, throughout the show, Nuraku has always been hiding, everytime he face the good guys, he always ended up defeated & runs into hiding, I don't see him being strong as all, don't get why all feared him so badly except for those controlled by him.
