Sure, if you want to pay $1300 for a scope with the optics and parts quality of a $300 Chinese scope. I have a $3k Zeiss Diascope FL 20-75x85 spotter. The scope body was assembled in China under contract (with likely mostly German made parts, surely the lenses). It's the best spotter I've ever used. China can manufacture world class products if that's what the buyer specs. And, IIRC, Vortex makes the AMG entirely in the US already. It's a $2500+ scope.

I opted for the Burris RT25 5-25X56 over the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25X56 due to Joe's reviews on the Strike Eagle, and I really wanted one. There is a market, a huge one, for target hobbyist, competition shooters and hunters alike for a 1st class mid level priced but very reliable scope under a $Grand. So far so good on the Burris. Very clear optics and holds zero. I think it is going to be a winner and certainly an alternative for the dwindling Vortex loyalists. Mounted on a Remington 700 PCR .260 and my 63 year old eyes can shoot a sub 1/2 MOA. On a side note, I have a Vortex 3-12X56 Hog Hunter that is tough as nails on a .308 that I wouldn't take twice what I paid for it. Maybe Vortex should have built the Strike Eagle to the same standard. Thanks Joe.

    Agree with this 100%!
The Orson Wells quote is gold!
We've used hundreds of scopes from dozens of manufacturers over the past 40 years or so. Vortex optics were great years ago, now it is hit or miss. I have several great Vortex scopes from several years ago and love them, but have had enough issues with their more recent products that I don't trust them anymore and look to alternate options. Am currently using Arken and Bushnell for budget scopes, Athlon, EOTech, Leopold for mid range, and US Optics, Valdada, Schmidt & Bender for higher end optics. Screw Vortex, they can shove their overpriced crap.
If Vortex were smart, they should have left their products as flagship with lower profit margins, and put out an offshoot brand of mass market optics that are a balance of quality vs value with higher profit margins. That other brand could ride on the coat tails of Vortex for instant market recognition, while Vortex itself doesn't make any compromises for its name and retains its product quality and reputation. Doing this has actually become a trend with manufacturers, don't understand why Vortex isn't doing it.

When our dept starting allowing Lpvo’s for patrol rifles, I got a Steiner 1-4, buddies got: Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6, Vortex Viper PST 1-6 & Primary Arms 1-6. My Steiner had the clearest glass, the Strike Eagle’s glass looked cloudy at 100yds, the Viper had something wierd inside the tube & had to be sent back. The PA was good for the money. I also had a Athlon 1-4 that was about $180 on a .300blk. That cheapest Athlon was way clearer than the Strike Eagle. Vortex, no thanks. Better options, listen to Cyclops too. Now I like: Athlon, Arken, US Optics, Steiner, Burris, Meopta, Riton & PA.

I've had a Razor Gen I and a PST Gen 2, and both have done me well. However, this sounds consistent with companies that got super popular and the demand got so high, their ability to maintain quality control got away from them. Kimbers were great, got popular and and then QC went to hell. Folks had issues with then and it took a while for them to build their rep back. Optics have gone the way of 1911s, ARs and bolt guns. Innovation, competition and the market gets flooded. Quality for low price out of these newer brands will turn Vortex into Leupold if they're not careful.

Thanks, Joe. In Spain we have had a problem with a brand of scopes that started with a great team, producing in Asia and offering indestructible scopes. I have had one for 4 years and it has gone through standard and magnum cartritges. A rock. A couple of years ago his latest (and most expensive) model was filled with humidity and fog. The brand responds, but they are not reliable. I understand you.

i recently bought a swampfox patriot 6-24x50 and thought it was a decent scope for the price, i then bought a vortex diamondback tactical 6-24x50 for the same price and was blown away at the difference in the quality of the glass. the swampfox will work at 100 yards but is not the clearest sight picture. its pretty hard to see .22 cal hits at 100 yards with it. but the vortex, you can see all your .22 cal hits at 100 yards very easily without trying to squint or focus your eyes like in the swampfox. i just got my arken sh4 gen 2 for christmas and as soon as its not cold as balls outside i will be testing that one out too. hope everyone had a nice christmas!

One was flawless the other strait out the box had to be sent back. The parallax knob would free spin , wouldn’t stop at infinity and 20 like it’s supposed to. And it didn’t adjust anything when you moved it. I recently got a new in the box second focal plane strike eagle that they discontinued and it seems solid but the turrets are junk. I often watch your videos which are very good and in addition teaches a German the correct texan english (so funny ...). I want to give a comment to this video, because I just bought a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 MRAD. I didn't had this scope on the radar at all, it was a recommendation from the seller. I was more on a Meopta Optika 6 or a german brand.
Yesterday in the beginning dusk I compared the Strike Eagle back2back with some of my Scopes: Swarowski Z8i 2-16x50, Swarowski Z6i 2-12x50, Tract Toric 4,5-30x56. I tested all scopes from 50-1.000m against landscape, traffic signs, leaves, gras etc. Honestly, I was shocked how good the Strike Eagle was ! I really would say it was at 85-90% of the Swaro's and they are true reference in my opinion (and the Vortex has the smalles lens with 44mm !) Astonishingly the glas of the Vortex was better than the glas of the Tract. From the mechanical side I also have absolutely nothing to complain. OK, the illumination could move a notch lighter and there is not OFF between the 11 illumination steps, but these are only minor things. So I would give an absolut recommendation for the Vortex Strike Eagle, I think at this price point you wan't find a better optic with a lifetime warranty. For the price of one Swaro Z8i you can buy nearly 4 Strike Eagles. The Tract disappointed me in this comparison, I had it much better in my mind, but never compared it this way back2back with other scopes (mechanically I think it's nearly unbeatable).

I am no expert marksman but at 100yds i can generally keep any rifle at 1.5 to 2 moa. So i sent it back to Vortex. They told me i overtightened the rings. LMAO!!! But they did send a new 4-12x40. I am always shocked by the number of issues I hear on the Vortex scopes or products.
I had a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 which the reticle turned but it had to do with the scope rings I installed, they had crushed the tube

Vortex PST Gen I 4-16x50 no issues and sits on my 22 PRS rifle
Vortex HST 4-16x44 no issues, installed on 300wsm lightweight hunting rifle
Vortex Diamondback 3-9x50 on my 10/22 haven’t had an issue but it is a rimfire
Vortex Razor Gen 2 4.5-28x56 no issues on my 6.5x47 PRS rifle
Vortex 11-33x50 spotting scope , I did have the eyepiece collar come loose sent it back
    Vortex Diamondback Binos 10x44
Eyepiece diopter spun so sent it back
Overall I have been very happy with the products, I don’t think the glass is top tier but the price reflects that
I do worry about the newer lines coming out as I assume they have to make up for the no fault warranty somewhere and I have heard a number of issues with the Strike Eagle
