We actually used this technique on a 3200ft muddy grass runway in a 150. Started with a rolling takeoff turning onto the runway and it was slipping around....definitely one of the more exciting takeoffs I’ve done, but she made it off the ground
Hey Chris, loving these vids. Seriously the YT algorithm needs to get its shit together and give your channel some love. Also I love how you fly RH seat even with no student in haha!
Thank you. I agree. It's been incredibly frustrating to push out this kind of material and not have it rewarded. I'm trying to just put my head down and not think about that, just loading the system with material in hopes the scales tip in my favor.
Dustin Balint Thank you sir! Remember that day when I said “no more training, let’s just go fly over the coast and enjoy the views.” Seldovia was down there! Good times!
So I’m back at this video because I have an obsession with short runways. Your 172 is basically stock with an o300 right? Did you have half tanks? I saw Seldovia’s runway is just above 1800ft long which is just under my personal limit! Usually rental planes have full fuel so that is a factor for me.
Hope you aviators enjoyed this video! Please subscribe, press that notification bell, and comment! 😀
Doesn't lifting the front wheel mean you create excess drag with no benefit?
Great video Chris! Your technique is exactly how I am being taught. If you follow your simple steps, you will pass this maneuver on check ride.
I really dig the drone footage. Very cool to watch from that vantage point!
It's amazing. Really wish I could do it all the time.
Awesome and beautiful video Chris, I’m definitely going to put some of your tips to use

Happy to hear it was helpful! Lots of great grass strips down there, so you've gotta be ready.
Aviation 101 sent me, outstanding quality video! Glad I was referred.

Title: ACTUAL soft field.
Pilot: "This isnt exactly a soft field"...
Not the greatest runway on Infinite Flight 😂
