"Francis is still Francis, her first passion is her music" I think her first passion is herself
The owners, Sir Edward Greenwell and his wife, Clare clearly took Ruth's advice to heart, unlike their former tenant, Frances. Once again, Ruth was right! Frances should have heeded Ruth's advice because she owns a successful hotel in the same vicinity. What a missed opportunity. Good for the Greenwells.
These people should fall on their knees in praise of Ruth. She fixes their lives and I can't imagine anyone else who could do what Ruth does. She rocks!!!!
She can't afford to live in her magnificent residence without renting out rooms but doesn't want strangers and commoners hanging around. She just wants them to give her money and not bother her?
This woman is so lucky, she is sitting on a goldmine and she cannot have the brains to understand it! Hire it out to a hotelier, even than you will make money! Makes me so angry to see such incompetence...
She obviously had a taste of some sort of fame as a former model, but she runs her life still thinking everyone loves her.
I live in the area. It looked so tatty at the time this was filmed.. many years ago. I am not sure but i think it was sold. I will try to find out more on that.
@@mariahoulihan9483updates? Lol
She will ignore Ruth's advice.
.She obviously lives in a fantasy world, but perhaps that's why she can live this way. She's definitely not 47 🤣🤣, though an attractive 62.
she is a beautiful woman of 57
I thought the same, was shocked to hear "47"... Maybe she smoked cigarettes and tanned a lot.
She was born in 1950. The same year Ruth Watson was born.
Why waste Ruth’s time, this woman is a pain and way to full of herself
"out of my own pocket" did it for me.
Typo: I believe Frances has left and NEW people in. The owners I believe. Frances is ancient history. 👍
I love watching these episodes and respect Ruth's no-nonsense, direct communication.
May we borrow her? The US could use her help. We have similar shows, but all feature ego-driven hosts. " Look what I can do for you" vs "This is what you can do for yourself".
Yep, been watching Hotel Impossible with some bald headed guy - but I like him, he tell's it like it is.
Borden Ramsey does Hotel Hell, so he is definitely ego driven , but he’s also British.
Yes thank you. Very tired of the one week big bang yelling crap we have in the US
@@amywalker3647 He is so different on the British version of Kitchen Nightmares. No yelling, just straight talk. And it has a fabulous soundtrak with no annoying voiceover. If you haven't watched, give it a go. You will see him in a different light and its like watching a delightful documentary series.
Very greedy owner, if you are a true artist you will do what you can to pursue it, this is not the way. There are many people like her who simply want everything & not give anything.
As a renter, Frances probably left dead broke, assuming all the debt for renovations and operations and no assets. Truly a bad business proposition for her but smart for the owners.
Not only the idea of planning a wedding, any wedding....but also living in an old house no matter how beautiful....
Shivers. I've lived in tumbling wrecks my whole life.
2:10 "At 47 she ...". Small mistake. When the program was aired, she was 57 years old.
I'd say she is more like 67, I'm in my 60s and haven't got that level of wrinkles.
Makes sense.
Frances needs a reality check!
in 2022 it has 4.6 stars from 60 Google reviews and looks very nice
This type of person is infuriating.
She had some sort of fame as a model years ago, but in her later years is still fluttering around thinking it's all about her.
she must have had a it of a posh upbringing... that does not wean her family were wealthy ..... perhaps her accent comes from her education. she is really for all of that an aging hippy with no grip on finances and reality. that is all well and good.. but she was doomed with the wedding and hotel business here.
Lol🤣 i soo luv Ruth !! 💕 People are polite, 🙄👉 "They are on the whole,, but im Not" 😂🤪😅 i think shes lovely really !!
If I heard correctly, this is a rented property? I could understand if she owned the property, but, any improvements in the house will benefit the actual property owner, not the renter.
Funny to see a little shirtless David Duchovny pop up out of the corner towards the end 😄
Poor woman, not much of a voice, she seems to want to re capture her younger days of performance. Too bad she never took Ruth's advice and lost her beautiful place. Now she can watch the telly and relax.
I haven't commented on your videos yet but thank you so much for uploading all these episodes.
Love how thorough you are with the series and release date details!!!
This one is particularly fabulous, I remember this from the first time!
Thank you again. :)
Sadly she went into liquidation after the lease for seven years. (according to my nosey Google look-up!). Other companies rented it. It was forced into liquidation closure by the two years lockdown of ripped-away trade. It recently went back to the lease owners who have done a lovely refurbishment.
Infuriating to see a 700 year old building left without enough funds for continued care from her.
(But I feel sorry how she ended up divorced and struggling with it, when obviously she and her husband had plans )
Wow ty. Was going to research that .
Thank you for the update
She was very low energy
Don’t feel sorry for her. She didn’t want to work, expected everyone else to do the work for her, and then get all the money.
Frances is one of the very, very few people I disliked from the outset. She wants the money, but not the effort, or to get her hands dirty. She spends large amounts of money employing a daft number of people to run an empty house, but does nothing to get people in. Clearly she has always had money, has never been short before, and is not interested in actually working hard to earn it herself.
These shows make me imagine Ruth Watson coming to my house, imagine what she might say and look at it in new ways.
Taking up late, w/ this series I like this already, from the preface! I love that Ruth is 100% truthful, because when you deal w/ the public, its very important they are clean, safe & happy . After all they are paying for exactly that.
francis is a spoiled little girl. she wants to be able to play without having to do the work. she doesnt deserve to be a steward of a historical building like that.
Jennifer D: Yes, entitled - it was all about her.
This woman lives in la-la land. I don't think business is going to sink into her brain! I don't see how she will be in business in five years let alone three.
If you look at the venue now (without Frances) it's a successful thriving business in exactly the way Ruth prescribed. If Frances wanted to be a jazz singer she needed to stop faffing about and get out there gigging as she obviously was in need of experience. A very "entitled" woman.
47 years old !!! She looks 60 or more. That's some hard parties she's been through.
Got to just luv these partiers who are always bent on getting other people to do their work !
Wow! Just looked at this property's website - it's spectacular now! Well done to the new owners.
Oh, glad you mention 'New owners'. So you believe it has been sold ? and Françis is not living there anymore... this Would make a lot of sense. I went to look at them too. Looks cared for now.
@@katharinatrub1338 New owners may mean new tenants since she was renting it.
Frances was always just a tenant. The owners have now stopped letting it to other people and run it successfully themselves along the lines Ruth set out.
Great episode, so frustrating to see this woman refusing to make it work... this 'oh, I'm not a business woman' attitude is not cute or charming
at all... am I the only one who thought her singing also was nothing to write home about? 😬
If she was good, they would have shown more of her performance. But she has attitude and that obviously has worked for her til now.
I find it odd that she rents this place and can make all these changes.
If it's a lease that allows her to run her business there she'd be allowed to make changes. The lease would often lay out what isn't allowed
Francis is just plain silly!!!
Yet another person playing at running a hotel. Seriously, most of these people should NOT be in the business.
She's shallow.
The owner is so infuriating. Okay yah! So entitled. She hasn't a clue.
Ruth is a clever genius. Doesnt let emotions, herselves or others, to distract her from the goal.
Another entitled Diva runs out of people with money to do her work for her. I hope she is happy in her next home
The owner says they pay the amount of money for the experience but what experience???? Lower the cost to get more cash . It's not hard to understand
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink...
At least horses are useful
@@akashmukhopadhyay9335 😂🐴
I just took a peak at the Priory now and it is GOOOOOOOOOOOORGEOUS!!! The next preview to even TRY to book your wedding is Feb 11. Brilliant!!!!
Gorgeous home and facade. I wish Sir Edward and his wife a wonderful life there.
I wish her luck she is going to need it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🥰🤗
Francis reminds me of an older wannabe Kate Bush! Lol Oh well, I do hope she listens to Ruth, but her entitled & conceited attitude will probably hold her back
How can I say this nicely, someone who has traded on their looks & hasn’t learnt how to work. Entitled.
Such a beautiful place❤️👍🏼🇨🇦
Astonishing the 'business woman' hadn't even thought where she would set up her event till the morning of the day. Or that the photographer hadn't come down in advance to check the light. And Ruth's a bit insane to put two events in the same day on someone who's so passive.
Why on earth someone must put so much effort and money to a rental property? It will never be yours, so what's the point? If it is a financial burden just move out to a smaller place. In Greece we have a proverb that goes like this : "silk underwears need skillful /worthy butts..." (ΤΑ ΜΕΤΑΞΩΤΑ ΒΡΑΚΙΑ ΘΕΛΟΥΝ ΕΠΙΔΕΞΙΟΥΣ ΠΙΣΙΝΟΥΣ) in other words simply you cannot play the lady of the manor if you are not wealthy enough.
What’s NOTTTTTT about her…Once the center….Time changes us all and those who don’t possess the ability to change…Stagnate and Fester
The place looks amazing now by the looks of things! Probably a new owner by now
She rented the place right? It was never mentioned as a place she owns
Yes they took the lease back and it has new tenants.
Frances is super annoying! Love the show:)
Ruth: "This beautiful place is 3 miles from my Hotel..."
Francis: "What should I do?"
Ruth: "Stop being a B&B..."
Hmm... 😅😂
The owner is living out a fantasy and my guess the property was from the marriage.
Her attitude of being 'proper' without doing anything kills me. I understand why the husband wanted OUT.
She is uptight and seems disconnected from doing commoner class stuff.
Sweetie its your business bust r A. S. S . and those 3 female employees are under valued.
Idea - setup an area for music vocal and invited guests who want to learn and play with others in an older building with good acoustics.
The property was and is rented to the couple and the couple divorced, leaving her to stay there and pay the rent. There was no property to divide up, at least not the building and land.
Interesting you say that. Having had a google, Arctic Monkeys apparently recorded one of their albums there - so definitely a missed opportunity for her
The only one who" booked it " was the husband.
The price was too high for him too
Living in a former church would give me the creeps ☹️
47? Wow! She must have spent a lot of time in the sun to get those lines at such a relatively young age.
She smokes.
I am that sad person that goes on google when watching a show to have a nosey. Looking at her company’s house info she was born in 1950 - so that would actually make her 57 ( this was filmed in 2007 I believe)
@@claref7429 I hear you, I often do that too! 😊 xx
In the southern USA we would say, "rode hard and puts away wet."
Smoke, alcohol, sun, stress....
@@claref7429here's a tip to look young. If you want to lie about your age, lie UP!!! If she said she was 58-60, we would think she looks FABULOUS!
so the owners, the Greenwells, took the property back and turned it into a proper venue..... it now has 47 bedrooms, 3 events managers/coordinators, a full-time husband/wife maintenance team........ and a very beautiful website showcasing their wedding business. It's too bad Frances was so focused on herself, but nice to see that the venue has become a success.
The decor in the rooms is exquisite.. Unfortunately, this building gives me an eerie feeling, possibly cause it reminds me of my boarding school
Her company was dissolved until this year. So she lasted a lot longer than I thought
I think this is a lovely place for lots of things and people coming to the place is not a lot to ask to live there a lot of these big houses do it today and it's lovely to I think the lady that is organising things is going to make a packet for the place you will be able to do your music but you may have to wait a bit to do it if you want to stay in the lovely place then get the venue's in its not a lot to ask anyway you may enjoy
Francis was not the owner, just a tenant.
I would have thought - as the rooms are already made up as guest rooms that they could be offered as accommodation as part of a wedding package. You would already need to offer space for the bride and her entourage to get changed and ready so why not do an accommodation deal too Don’t let the rooms out generally but only as part of the package
she was greedy
Oh dear, Frances... darling... that bit of paper you're clutching - is that a set list, or worse, the lyrics in your hand as you're singing...?
Wedge it under one of the feet of your mic stand.
Audiences don't pay to see that.
Well she doesn’t own it now and looking at the present owner websight they are doing very well so they at least understood the possibilities not their own importance
.
She was a tenant not a owner.
It's SO loud!! The noise from the traffic is dreadful! I wonder if there was also noise when trying to sleep in the rooms (which WERE quite lovely!)?
And as the wedding coordinator has never had the job before, she may have done better just listening to Ruth, rather than being so critical, about the location and the owner's business ability. She hasn't added much to the plan, considering how critical she is. And she didn't smile once.
Frances was touted as a piano player at first, but we only heard her sing here (ah-hem!).
The history of the location however, is very fascinating, for those interested in British history, specifically Tudor history!
Ruth's place is just down the road, they said. I wonder who does what, where, now in the environs??
Do they pick the most incompetent people for this show? They ask Ruth for help and then ignore everything she says.
why? time and again do people who ask for help always act obstinate and obtuse and resist everything?
Gorgeous place and I understand all the ambivelence... tough choices! I hope it works out for the best for her and her staff!!!!
What a silly woman.
Something's you have to wait for and give time then you can do them
I thought she was going to give a piano recital.
Why were there cusions on the moroccan toilet lol
Methinks Frances est une poseur extraordinaire.I've done up houses ran out of money then moved on again and again to do up properties .You have to know when to move on and let go.
“Francis is upstairs taking a power nap to prepare for her performance,”meanwhile, everyone else is running around to set up for an upcoming main event. That pretty much sums up why Francis is struggling with Butley.
Francis could care less about being a hotelier. She only cares about singing and charging too much to stay at Butley. It seems that she lacks the ambition to do anything at all to help herself get out of debt and keep the home.
Francis seems like she couldn’t be less interested in the business, as if it will look after itself. Omg if I owned a place that size, I would me going max!!
Rents it ! This is now 15 or so years old. I bet this women is now in a bed sit. Sad she could have changed her life using and capitalising on this property.
I think she wants to be the star of the show. She seems self absorbed
I have never needed nor used a shower to wash my hair, I dunk my head back in the bath 😂
That's what I was thinking!
I don't know about rinsing my hair in dirty bathwater. But to each his own.
13:39 Epic
Just wow. She needs to just find a man with millions to make this a private home .😂
I’m sure there’s a man her age , which appears to be a realist 60 something , that will be thrilled to love her !
Not a very nice suggestion and insulting to women.
@@maccoll3644- Very good point, but she isn’t doing much to prove she can run a successful, dynamic business and fund her love of music. She is behaving like a bit of a fluff-head.
@@maccoll3644I don’t think this was an insult to woman. It seems to be the way Francis is acting. She has no business acumen. She doesn’t want to share her home. She doesn’t want to do any work. Normal woman with children left in a divorce and dealing with a lack of funds would do what it took to keep their households going. I don’t see this same work ethic with Francis. She’s all about taking naps, hiring other people to do the work, and deliberately sabotaging the guesthouse to avoid having guests. She cannot function on her own. I think they call this a “trophy wife.”
Learning lots
Five on staff…..I’ve met people like this too many times in my life’s…I’d love to see my life so detached like that…..BUTTTT…I’d much rather live in the real world an enjoy that I create great experience that hopefully people remember..without purpose…LIFES abit pointless…The rooms..really..seem abit woefully under market…
And you're being very kind & generous....
One hour and half to go and no musicians...
I'm a performer. Surely, these people need a sound check before the main show? Especially if the show has changed to outdoors? Sound and acoustics are very different outdoors vs indoors ffs!!
Totally agree. A soundcheck is not "a nice thing to do if you have time." It is vital and as much care should be given to it as the performance itself. I worked in music venues in my youth and some arrogant bands would arrive at the last minute and go on stage after leaving the roadies to do a 10 minute soundcheck They mostly sounded awful. The decent bands would arrive early afternoon and spend hours getting the sound perfect.
However Francis needs to take the back seat yeah she's the owner but she needs to be the owner that just resides there and allow the other women that are there to be the impromptu owners and managers and run that while she focuses on the entertainment and focuses on her music she does not have the mindset to run a successful Hotel bed and bath or any place that someone's going to spend money to stay in because her mind is somewhere else
She is not the owner of the property; she rents it.
So many negative comments about Francis. She'd found herself solely responsible for the priory, wanted to keep it as her home, and thought she could make that work through hospitality. I've worked in hospitality and event planning. Assuredly, not everyone is cut out for it. Nor for running a business of any kind. Clearly, Francis' character and talents run in other directions.
You can't always get what you want! She wasn't even trying to be involved in the business. She was too busy listening to the sound of one hand clapping. No sympathy.
why do any tenant .... the world over ... do renovations .... make the owner pay ..... it is them who are winning out here
You need to step into the real world and learn how things work.
Talk about Lady of the Manor delusions. I wonder if she secretly imagined the "staff" as her manor servants.
So much entitlement, so little common sense. Her beauty may have faded long ago, but her sense of her own importance still rages on.
Not surprised the actual owners followed Ruth's advice and eventually cashed in on the opportunity themselves. Most of the old aristocracy have resorted to opening their properties to the public to pay the bills.
I'm just happy to see historical buildings restored and revitalized for the use and pleasure of new generations to come. That kind of old world architecture and detailed craftsmanship is rare today.
Give the woman a break, she is a beautiful woman and composer who needs help running a business out of her home..sounds like a hard working independent women to me..
Not clear if she owns or rents this place. If she’s renting, and she can’t afford it and whose first love is music, why not move and focus on her art rather than on laundry??? Even with its focus on location or events, it will require time and energy. Move. You’ll be happier!
I think she (her ego) saw this as the perfect setting for herself and was unable to see herself anywhere else.
Francis is as camp as a row of tents 😍 She is also one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen on RUclips ! I truly hope she is doing well xx
Phase out the B&B 3 miles from her own hotel. Suspicious
What an insult to Ruth’s professionalism
Very greedy owner, if you are a true artist you will do what you can to pursue it, this is not the way. There are many people like her who simply want everything & not give anything.
I think the issue is that she charged a lot because she needed the money, but did not realise that you have to match the market. Overcharge, and no-one will come. No one cares about your bills!
