And I just want to let you know temi, and I've really loved your videos alot and I just want to say your an amazing artist, keep drawing, stay well 💜

Temi, you're the reason why I am starting to get curious about colored pencils! I'm currently 13 and I mainly use graphite since that's all that I have right now but seeing you do amazing art just makes me very happy and makes me want to try it too :D
The Arteza cores are just a harder led. Not all wax colored pencils are the same. There is a range between softness and hardness. A harder core allows for more small details because it doesn't break or crumble. These two sets are good companions, Prismacolor for the base layers and Arteza for the details.
@@boredomatethecat awesome!! Lol. They also work together well because of the color selections in each. They are different than eachother. I have the Prismacolors but not the Arteza colored pencils. I do have Artezas water colored ones though, which have the same colors in them.
Just as a heads-up the Arteza seem to have a protective coating that you need to sharpen out before use. They aren't prisma buttery, but they're a decent dupe for much less. (Outside of the US, I think Prismas are much cheaper in their homeland).
Arteza side is actually better in my opinion, the colours are vibrant, even though it does not stand out for realism, it could make a really cool filter! ❤❤❤
Temi, we needed this! I never really got the time to tell you this, but keep going! You're not only earning respect but you're encouraging us to do realism. I was wondering if I could post my entry for the roasting art on youtube?

It’s actually inspired me to keep trying to find a breakthrough with Arteza pencils because honestly it’s just sitting in my collection. Thank you for your content.

I use Prismacolor colored pencils, and I love them. I don’t think I could ever use a different brand. They blend together so nicely (I don’t draw advanced stuff like this or anything, but the pencils still get the job done).

Prismas are relatively cheap in the US, in any other country they are way overpriced. It is best to go with your local artist brand. I'm in Germany and here Prismas are often as expensive as Polychromos. So I buy the Polychromos.
@@rauchschwalbelp7693 i got my prisma 150 set about a month ago for 86 dollars. They were just climbing down, but today I looked and they were 114 dollars, just something interesting. Prsima colors are cheap in the art world, polychromos are mor expensive but oil based and harder to layer and blend but everything else it better (especially for realism!) caran dache luminance are the most expansive and are waxed based like prisma color, but has a higher percentage of oil and it harder. I have all 3 brands (120 polychromos, 72 prismas, 12+20 luminance) i find prsimas are the worst quality (not on paper) and break super easily and are hard to sharpen and have ultra smooth finishes (sometimes too smooth in realism) and superior layering and blending, luminance it is easy to sharpen, they blend extremely well and is able to have fine details unlike polychromos. Polychromous are harder to blend (if not used right), has not the best white pencil but is superior for holding its point and fine details, and sharpens super easily, polychromos are very ideal for ultra realism In ranking i would put a close 1. Polychromos 2.luminance 3. Prisma

It would have been good to have a side-by-side comparison with the reference image at the end, as the two halves are too different to know which came out better. But regardless it’s a very nice piece and I enjoy seeing you try new materials.
Girl! You're the reason why I'm buying my cheap set of colored pencils to practice. Eversince, I don't like rendering with colored pencils because it requires so much of work unlike painting. And now, I'm just so fascinated to try it out for real with inspirations coming from your tips and beautiful art pieces. Wow!
I think when it comes to selecting brands it's down to personal preference because i love Arteza pencils on smooth paper and i can achieve nice effects with it . i think it is a really good mid-range brand of pencil. if you are a person that dislikes wax blooms and tacky textures i would not recommend - however if you a hobbyist or a broke artist (like me) these pencils are leaps and bounds better than your crayolas, castle arts and marco raffines. you can see that they can achieve beautiful gradients and are pigmented and lightfast. They will always be near and dear to my heart as the first colouring pencil set of mine that the white pencil actually had an impact on my art !! 😂😂
LOL I also have these pencils and my lid broke the first time I opened it too! I really expected it to be representative of the quality I should expect from the pencils, but I was pleasantly surprised - they’re really quite nice. Also, if you can get the lid to wiggle back into the hinges, a pair of pliers will squeeze the hinges back tight enough to keep the lid on properly. 😊
when i first saw this video i was really confused as i always felt like arteza & prismacolor were in the same price bracket but i guess it’s a UK/US thing. i double checked on amazon and while prismacolor set is listed at around $240 as you said it’s on “sale” for $79 and idk why but target always sells them for cheap: the 12 ct for $9.99 and the 24 ct for $20 still a little more but not wildly different idk just thought I’d share for any other viewers in the US keep up the good work though !! i’ve never really been into realism but with every video of yours i watch the more i’m tempted to try
I really thought Arteza would win (hope I spelt that correctly). I would love to see you do another head to head on paper you use regularly. Great video. Thank you.
I have castle arts, prismalcolours and arteza pencils and prismalcolours are my go to but I must say that castle arts are quite good too. Also, arteza pencils feel quite strange and not great but stick with them if you can because they get easier to work with! If you haven't tried castle arts pencils yet then I highly recommend them. They're affordable and I really like the quality of them
This is a great video - thanks for the information. I have both of these sets, and yes, I like them a lot. But, I'm always on the fence about them. I don't trust the lightfastness of Arteza (based on reviews and my own experience with them) ... To be honest, Prismacolor has never given any evidence of their lightfastness - or how they derived at this conclusion. For some people, this is not important at all; especially if you're just starting out. I'm a professional folk artist, and I sell my work, so it's key for me. But, on another note, the colors in both sets are glorious, and I think they're great for work that you plan to sell prints of (and save your originals). That being said, I'm sticking with my Polychromos, which I had to buy open stock to build up my set lol ... All in all, I've watched you make magic happen with the best and the worst of colored pencils. Thank You so much for sharing.
Heyyy so I have an art question: I want to buy markers for a colored-pencil portrait base. I'm between Arteza and Ohuhu. Do the brands blend well together, and if not, which brand/sets are recommended for beginners? Thank you! 😊
the best option is to take time and do the entire drawing with color pencils i bought the arteza and ohuhu markers and the are absolutely terrible for portraits overall they are nice but they are definitely not for portraits hope it helps
Honestly I can barely tell a difference in the sides, but maybe that's just me. I guess if I had to say one it would be the Prismacolours, since you said they were easier to work with
@@ewaoluwajobi4477 I don't get what you're trying to say. If you're saying the sides are different, yeah I know. I said BARELY different, not NO difference. If you're saying the Prismacolours are easier to work with, then ok? I can't think of anything you might be trying to say /nm
On smooth paper the technique is a lot different, I use the Bristol smooth for my really glossy photorealistic work and the vellum when I want to layer a lot more.
I think that arteza won for me even though she is right about the paper I think that the arteza won 'cause it makes it look like a real lip the other side is a bit more darker in tone but arteza definitely won for me also love your drawing it's so good the shines are amazing
Prismacolor is the winner! I too love the smoothness and feel these pencils have to offer. As for paper I would've gone for one with more grit/texture. I find smooth paper to be good for pastels. Just my opinion! 😅
Amazing! Thank you. I was tempted to buy the arteza but I already have prismacolor. I love pencils but ones that resist the process are so unnecessary. Saving my money for better.
Love your video! Just so you know because you said you didn't like it, the reason people like toned tan because having a base layer down already helps you accurately match colours and makes the highlights stand out more:)

As an artist, I don't really have enough money or cash to these expensive coloured pencils or markers, so a big THANK YOU for testing them out for me. I feel like prisma got a win because it is smooth but arteza got a half because I liked the blending of it. Crayole and scribilitous is like my unique coloured pencils. im so excited for christmas now because my mom said i could ask for prisma colors for christmas 😭❤️ i don’t have experience with colored pencil but im excited to start :)
I felt your pain with the Arteza situation, altough I must say I have seen crazy good stuff done with those pencils, and I like using them on textured paper. In the other hand, i found a very good price on the Derwent Drawing pencils and went for a splurge... I must say it feels weird picking up Arteza pencils at the moment 🤣🤣 i think you would find interest in the bruynzeel pencils from Royal Talens ☺️
@@ladyjmarie3955 Yes they are! Some pastel artists use colored pencils for details in their work. You may also want to check out pastel pencils, and/or pan pastels. Both of which have very little to no dust, especially the pan pastels.
Prismacolor verithins are hard, so I’d assume the Arteza are more like those. Will have to do a comparison with the limited collection of verithins I have.
I enjoy these comparisons. But I find that textured paper allows for more layering and blending than smooth paper, and heavy paper would also have helped with your comparison. Now I would love, if you have not already did one, to see the Crayola Blend and Shade in adtion
Try prismacolor scholar pls! They are the cheaper student level of prismacolor. I find them not quite as good as the regular prismacolor but better than any “dupe” I’ve tried.
I got Arteza color pencil set based on good reviews. Colour payoff is amazing, they are quite soft etc. But for some reason I hate working with them. I am used to Polychromos where I can build layers of layers, of layers. With Arteza ... they feel a bit like wax crayons. There is so much wax in them, that it makes it impossible to layer different colors on top of each other. It all leads to muddy mess. I have them for 6 months now and they must be my least used color pencils. I prefer Brutfuner over them by a lot.

I know that I am not Temi but I can try and help you out. It is not fully necassary but if you are selling your art or sharing it online I would reccomend it. She does it because the sketches can be messy and if you really want it to be realistic transferring it is the way to go!!!

They're affordable and I really like the quality of them
From the looks of it, it seems like the arteza side is more detailed while on the Prisma side, it looks like it’s more smoother.
What do you mean by lightfastness? I’ve never heard this term before.
Heyyy so I have an art question:
I want to buy markers for a colored-pencil portrait base. I'm between Arteza and Ohuhu. Do the brands blend well together, and if not, which brand/sets are recommended for beginners? Thank you! 😊
Yeah same
the best option is to take time and do the entire drawing with color pencils
i bought the arteza and ohuhu markers and the are absolutely terrible for portraits overall they are nice but they are definitely not for portraits
hope it helps
I think ohuhu is better for beginners because of price range but I never used arteza because it's more expensive.
@@DreamiMusho yes I also use the ohuhu
@@juanasstudioofart6115 yeah I still need blending help though
I swear this woman doesn’t make art; She makes miracles. 💯😍
I know this will be amazing! Temi is so inspiring!
Honestly I can barely tell a difference in the sides, but maybe that's just me. I guess if I had to say one it would be the Prismacolours, since you said they were easier to work with
Yeah they were
@@ewaoluwajobi4477 I don't get what you're trying to say.
Temi you're on fire!! 3 videos in 1 week! I think Prismacolor won out of the two!
I have used Prismacolour for decades. It's all in the paper.
I think that the prisma colours will win
What’s the best colored pencils for a begginer? Also I love the vidddddd the drawing looks so good
honestly I like them both
Arteza are just the perfect pencil, no can can argue with me!
Prismacolor is the winner! I too love the smoothness and feel these pencils have to offer. As for paper I would've gone for one with more grit/texture. I find smooth paper to be good for pastels. Just my opinion! 😅
Enjoyed this, Temi! Would you consider trying this again but on paper that you know you def like for a better comparison?
I love that paper for graphite, charcoal and even soft pastels drawings only. Hate it for colored pencils
Amazing! Thank you. I was tempted to buy the arteza but I already have prismacolor. I love pencils but ones that resist the process are so unnecessary. Saving my money for better.
It's amazing how you can draw with long nails whenever I try to I just go crazy lol 🤪 love ur vids 😊
I'm 13 and can't spend my money on pencils but I have a Arteza set and I love them, someday I want to try the prisnacolors
A lot of people who prefer smooth paper use their supplies differently and are used to smooth. But really, it can depend on the supplies.
Love your video! Just so you know because you said you didn't like it, the reason people like toned tan because having a base layer down already helps you accurately match colours and makes the highlights stand out more:)
Your videos like these gives me hope that even tho my supplies are cheap i can still keep working to become an amazing artist. Also just wanna say i love you so so much, you're such a good artist and you inspire me so much, you give me so much motivation and your talent is unbelievable to me! Not only that but youre also so gorgeous i just gotta tell you. Always watch your videos for tips or even to just learn from watching your videos. I havent seen you get hate but if you ever do i hope they dont bring you down. I love you again mwah and i hope you have an amazing christmas or any other holiday you are celebrating this december! :)
Omg temi is a fairy it's confirmed because of her I created a peice I never thought I could make and the other day saw it in a temi trash talks video like omg I love you..

For me it was prisma.. I just felt like it was more realistic and it had a smoother transition while you were drawing. You can definitely tell the difference at the end of the drawing.
im so excited for christmas now because my mom said i could ask for prisma colors for christmas 😭❤️ i don’t have experience with colored pencil but im excited to start :)
I am watching your videos for so long I love your drawings I draw every time I think I can probably show you a picture with my drawings
I have an idea! Maybe for a next drawing challenge, you could only use primary colours and see how it turns out.
I felt your pain with the Arteza situation, altough I must say I have seen crazy good stuff done with those pencils, and I like using them on textured paper.
In the other hand, i found a very good price on the Derwent Drawing pencils and went for a splurge... I must say it feels weird picking up Arteza pencils at the moment 🤣🤣
i think you would find interest in the bruynzeel pencils from Royal Talens ☺️
If it was not for you I would have never found my passion for art 😚,you are just such a angel 😇
If you want a tan paper with tooth, try a pastel paper. The come in a variety of colors and have a nice tooth in order too pick up the pastels.
are they good for colored pencils? I have a hard time using pastels they get too dusty so I wanted to try my pencils on the pastel paper.
@@ladyjmarie3955 Yes they are! Some pastel artists use colored pencils for details in their work. You may also want to check out pastel pencils, and/or pan pastels. Both of which have very little to no dust, especially the pan pastels.
I’m actually surprised the Arteza didn’t perform well because I see so many art RUclipss give them good reviews
Prismacolor verithins are hard, so I’d assume the Arteza are more like those. Will have to do a comparison with the limited collection of verithins I have.
You've been so amazing for uploading so frequently! I appreciate every single video you make! You're incredible ❤️
Thank you!
@@TemiDansoArt for blending should i use a solvent or just keep layering?
I voted for Prismacolour cuz I knew it wouldn't disappoint me.👏🏻
I enjoy these comparisons. But I find that textured paper allows for more layering and blending than smooth paper, and heavy paper would also have helped with your comparison.
Now I would love, if you have not already did one, to see the Crayola Blend and Shade in adtion
Arteza supposedly changed manufacturers last year and the pencils went really bad when they did
Awesome video temi!
Please, please, please, make a reaction video for instant influencer episode 2!!
The first reaction was ultimate!
Watching you has inspired me to try realism with coloured pencil
Prisma colors are my FAVOURITE
Try prismacolor scholar pls! They are the cheaper student level of prismacolor. I find them not quite as good as the regular prismacolor but better than any “dupe” I’ve tried.
Temi your writing is BEAUTIFUL
Can I use my 24 pack prismacolor instead of the full pack? Can I get the same colors look from the fullpack by layering multiple colors of shades?
I got Arteza color pencil set based on good reviews. Colour payoff is amazing, they are quite soft etc.
But for some reason I hate working with them. I am used to Polychromos where I can build layers of layers, of layers.
With Arteza ... they feel a bit like wax crayons. There is so much wax in them, that it makes it impossible to layer different colors on top of each other. It all leads to muddy mess.
I have them for 6 months now and they must be my least used color pencils.
I prefer Brutfuner over them by a lot.
Yes Temi!!
Wow, I look away for two seconds to grab my coffee look back and the atreza lips gloss is popping!
now I saw the whole thing completed I see the difference the Prismacolor makes
hi temi love the video could u do a video of portrait drawing for beginners i have done a few still life drawings but every time i do a portrait it doesn’t go to plan and i would really love to draw one love u and ur videos keep going
She’s already done that
oh yeh sorry
Totally not going to amazon and adding both brands of pencils to my wishlist.....
Quick question: Is it important to transfer the sketch on the actual sketchbook? Can you just sketch directly on the sketchbook from the start? Because I see you always transfer sketches and I was wondering if it was necessary
❤️ you Temi
I know that I am not Temi but I can try and help you out. It is not fully necassary but if you are selling your art or sharing it online I would reccomend it. She does it because the sketches can be messy and if you really want it to be realistic transferring it is the way to go!!!
@@boredomatethecat
Oh thank you! I was really just looking for an answer, I didn’t really expect Temi to respond anyway since I think she is busy with her skillshare classes and drawing.

Been waiting for this video! 😊
Hope you enjoyed!
is it possible that u put a little timer while you are working on art? So that we know exactly how much time went into it? Seeing it like this on video gives an unreal expression that the art was done within 15-30 minutes.
Winner…Prismacolor! I love the lip shine (glossy lip)! ❤️❤️❤️
I really loved that even. Tho it was ateza she made the drawing beautiful
New Sub thanks as an new artist this really helped me learn the layer technique with the arteza even though it wasn’t great quality 💜
IS THERE ANYTHING LIKE ANY TRICKS OR TIPS THAT YOU USE TO DRAW THE BASE
I started with arteza, at first the supplies seemed decent but then I realized my portraits weren't what I wanted them to look like...so i switched
lovin this! Pop off temi
I love these videos! Prismacolor!!
Im so happy I've been waiting for you to post one of these😁😀😁
Hmm...... I usually do graphite but now I'm starting to wonder if I should start doing colours too
