    Looks great!
    I have a great idea Russ -
    Get one or two of those "Neoprene" pot-holders at the Walmart? or somewhere.
    Cut it as a liner where the tube sits.
    The half-circle may need enlarging a bit.
    Just glue a strip of that neoprene on the curve.
    Do the same on a top piece.

    I have seen those solar cookers in videos. They definitely work well. I've seen cakes baked in them also. Nice job Russ! Your going to drive your neighbors crazy with the smells👍

    Hi Russ, I would suggest that you should paint the wood supports white instead of black. With them black, the wood is _absorbing_ most of the suns energy hitting it, heating the wood. If you paint it white, it will be predominantly reflecting all the solar energy up into the solar tube instead of putting the heat in the support. Of course a mirrored surface would be the best.

      Just get the sun shade I saw in the front of the truck and put it under the tube. No paint needed. Put a 2x4 on each side to force the reflective sun shade into a curve and it should be a little wider too. Most of the reflectors I make are 26" wide and about 6 inches deep. PIPEtalk

    Russ, you are going to love solar cooking. I have a different one, Solavore, and found solar cooking is the best. Pretty much anything that works in a slow cooker, works for solar. Chicken being one of the best, super moist and tasty. Have fun and keep us up to date. Safe travels. 🌞😎 -Mark

    Russ - great job. In my opinion, you should line the front part of your frame with a reflective material, allowing more light to enter the chamber.

    Interesting little contraption. When I look at it at first glance I see a perfect meatloaf factory! I hope in the future (if you don't mind doing this) you take some video of all the food you decide to cook in this tube. Eggs? Hamburgers? I'm curious to see how that would work. Well I suppose one could say make a meatloaf log and cut them into beef patties after they were cooked? oh the possibilities!

    Hi Russ good move, even if you are in the desert on a cold day and you have sun you are cooking with that oven. Blue Van Dan has been cooking and burning in that oven for years now. LOL love the man he is so funny. You never know what he has cooking in his oven from steak to bread. meatloaf to cake. The last thing I seen him cooking was biscuits.Look really good. So have fun Russ. Later LOL Work bench, I'll give it a 75 out of 100 for good job, but the C clamp were'd you fine that puppy. She be an oldy but goody. LOL Hey what ever works.... but don't let your kids see you don't it.LOL till next time.

    • @pipetalk
      @pipetalk 4 года назад

      No it will not get that hot. Cooking temperature is like an oven. My designed reflectors are for 350F to 400F PIPEtalk

    Lookin’ good, Russ. Are these real popular on the desert, or a novelty? At any rate, looks interesting and fun. BlueVan Dan has one, too.

  • @WillKlaver
    @WillKlaver 5 лет назад +1

    ..since your surface is Flat under the tube, i'd use a few mirrored Tiles glued on with roofing adhesive or something instead of Aluminum foil..

      The reflector surface should be curves outside the tubes shadow. If you need the cureve contact me on eBay Pipetalk

    No need for a new saw if the electric motor is still rotating well. Replace blade with steel carbide blades. They stay sharp up to 10 times longer.
