Something similar happened to me! My very first pointe shoe was the Bloch European Balance. I remember it feeling so square and blocky on me (no pun intended), and I sank so much (although I do think a lot of that was the fit). After a LONG journey through many other brands and models, I ended up trying on the Eurostretch the other day, and it's like, the best of both worlds -- the box shape of the Euro Balance but the stretch fabric alleviates all the issues I usually have with bagginess in the sides and heels. My feet are so different from where they were years ago, and it was so surprising to see how much better that particular shape fit on me now vs back then! I know this video is a bit old by now, but I'm happy for you that they worked out again!!
THANK-YOU for your honest reviews! I have seen huge changes in my foot work using a softer shank after years of SH GRISHKOS... now I am using harder shoes to strengthen and softer for center work. I have never been in greater shape...
So happy you found a good pair! Hannahs didn’t work for me at all and snapped after several wears, not even in a class :( but I’m happy they work for you!
The Hannah actually caused painful, bleeding blisters after every class. I might try a slightly smaller size and a slightly narrower box (every fitter insisted on fitting me in the widest shoes they had, and I felt like I was sinking slightly in every one of them!) when I go back to ballet. I did what you did with Serenades, ordered to try them (especially that a UK retailer had them on sale for £16 and really liked them, though I could not fully get over. But, I did not go to ballet for long enough after that for them to hit their sweet spot. I also tried Grishkos and RPs this way. Grishko would have to be softer and custom as the vamp is huuuge, but it would be one of the most ideal shoes for me. I tried RP Brava, and I would have to go half-size up, shorten the vamp and order it in FS. Then, it will be my perfect shoe. I've tried others, namely Triomphe (not Grishko Triumph), Aspiration and B-Morph. The latter two are squarer, so my tapered toes were not having it. Triomphe was okay, though I would like them if they came in a softer version.
I am sorry to hear they were not a good fit. It is so hard to find the perfect shoe for sure. Every foot is different and the journey to finding a good shoe can be a painful one. I hope you find a good fit soon!
@@KimberlykeepsdancingI thought I'd give you a little update. So, I contacted Bloch US virtual fitters as, wait for it... Fitters don't like to fit my type of feet in the UK. 😂 I have, as described by the fitter, tapered toes and metatarsals. I have low profile, low arch feet that aren't strong more flexible. They were not keen on me being fitted in Bloch Aspiration or B-Morph as they are very sqaure shoes (and based on shank strength, as Aspirations are really hard shoes). They did recommend for me to try the Hannah's again, but in half a size to a size smaller (7-7.5) as the 8s were huge on me. The others they recommended for me were Euro Balance and Heritage. I would like to try Heritage first because it is a style that a fitter in the UK said would be good for me, but I was fitted into B-Morphs during that fitting. Once I'm back to the studio and doing classes, I would be psyched to try Heritage 😁
@@EnchantingWings1 it sounds like the heritage might be a good option! It is definitely more tapered than the Hannah. It is a pretty shoe but does have a shorter vamp I believe. I hope you find the perfect fit!!
@@Kimberlykeepsdancing I need that short vamp 😂 even their medium vamp stops me from rolling all the way up. I just feel pushed back. I also felt really unstable in Hannah. Was wobbling like a duck 😂
Thank you! Nice review as usual. I just have two questions: 1) How do you manage to get your ribbon under the shank? I sew my ribbons the whole way from the side down to the shank to get a nice pull (what is really time consuming) 2) Would you say, that the vamp is higher or lower compared to a Grishko 2007? I love the Grishko 2007, but the vamp is a little bit to high for me, so I am always looking for alternatives (I really dislike lowering the vamp manually)
I bend my shank and remove the back 3/4 section. It pops away from the shoe so I can easily slip the ribbon under it. I hope that makes sense. I would say the Hannah’s are definitely a lower vamp ( 2007s were too high for me as well) and slightly squarer box. I hope that helps!

I think the jet glue is for airplane models. It stinks but dries super fast!
