- Scott Tracy recalls International Rescue's public debut in this thrilling mini-episode of Thunderbirds.
To celebrate Thunderbirds Day (the series premiered on ATV on the 30th of September 1965), we are pleased to present this special presentation of "Trapped in the Sky" for a limited time only. In the 1960s, the soundtracks of select episodes of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Thunderbirds were abbreviated and then supplemented with new in-character narration for release on a series of vinyl mini-albums. In recent years, new visuals were created by members of our team in order to bring this shortened, but no less exciting, version of the episode to life.

This episode is surely one of the, if not the best 48 minutes ever filmed for television!
Hahaha, well no most of the episodes are 48 minutes but Traped in the sky is 53-54 minutes

What a powerful couple of extreme talents. The Anderson's Between them, they moulded childhoods of many. Believable stories of the future. Still a great show.
Remarkable how well this show stands up.....and stands out....even today. Nearly 60 years after it was made. A true TV legend.
Watching this I was transported back to my grandmothers house watching this marvellous show as a young boy. I am now 67 and enjoyed it just as much. What a show that has lasted the test of time due to the entire team associated with it and the foresight of Lew Grade.
This episode I had on a 45 rpm of Thunderbirds. As a young kid about 7 yrs old this programme was so exciting with the music, the opening credits, the action and suspense..loved watching this on TV each week, Great memories and enjoyed watching this episode again, sadly I passed the 45 rpm of this record recording in original jacket to a cousin who passed it on...many years ago.

I had, still have, this, on an LP, with an unfilmed Captain Scarlet episode, on the other side.
Thank you so much for uploading this special episode again. I missed it terribly. Its also a lovely tribute to the late 'Shane Rimmer', for his incredible voice acting skills. He was just perfect for the role. Happy Thunderbirds Day.
Watching this really makes me appreciate the attention to detail you put into the new footage with Scott. It’s completely seamless!
it's only reused clips the the same episode, yes, as you say the mouth lip sinking was spot-on not easy, the bit I am curarise about the as it not audio, from the episodes master vaulted films version, is the audio of better quality, not checked, maybe even stereo hi-if Dolby or something, or what just lifted the finished episode master or worse version copy of copy copy, but it sounds clear on less than perfect audio speakers?

Happy memories of watching Thunderbirds with my cousins. I had a Lady Penelope doll. Great tv and much better than the rubbish they show now. 📺

1965 I was 8 yrs. old First Saw This. Glad I've Got This Episode on DVD, FAB.
Seeing Scott on TB5 is awesome.
Also, seeing John flying Thunderbird 3 to relieve Scott from his duty. Most likely, Alan was in charge of Thunderbird 1 during Scott's term of duty.
This is what the fox kids version of Thunderbirds and Turbocharged Thunderbirds should have been back in the 90s.
If I was in charge at Fox Kids in the 90s, I don't think I would do _Thunderbirds_ that dirty or even go as far as _Turbocharged Thunderbirds._ I think I would have aired each episode in order while breaking each hour-long episode into two half-hour parts with little pop-up trivia like how TechTV aired the show before Comcast tried to devalue it in favor of its own G4 before the G4TechTV merger and then took it off after the 2004 film crashed and burned.
Marvellous. I remember watching this when it first came on tv. I must have been about seven. Thanks Gerry and Sylvia for great entertainment over the years.
Whenever I watch this episode, it’s takes me back to Friday 6pm on a September evening in 1991, I’ve just started school and my Dad says you’ll love this, tells me I used to watch this when I was your age.
I though he was crazy, and I stood there after the opening countdown, completely fixated on the telly for the next 50 mins. Utterly delighted when I found out there was another one next week!
Then I go to school after the weekend and everyone else is talking about it. I’m sure every Father knew about it and watched it with their son.
Dad always made sure we he was home in time for Thunderbirds for the next 32 weeks, sometimes with fish and chips! What a special time

It was the same with me Trevor, my Dad and I would sit down together and watch it and i was hooked every week since.
This brings back happy memories,used to love watching Thunderbirds in the 70s,had this episode on an album with Captain Scarlet on the other,thanks for a super upload, Best wishes to everyone.
I remember my Grandad having this on a 12inch Vinyl Record back in the day. I loved listening to it, but to have it made into an episode like this makes me all nostalgic and warm inside. Thank you so much for putting this up. Thunderbrids always manages to cheer me up, even during difficult times.

When I first watched the Thunderbirds day livestream years back, my Internet at the time was so bad I wasn't able to watch it all of this, i'm grateful you've uploaded this, if we at some point reach a 60th Anniversary DVD/Blu-Ray set... this would be great as an extra feature.
In addition to the extra new puppet sequences for the ep, Alan's breif voice was corrected too :p
I grew up with Gerry Anderson and Thunderbirds was my favourite so when I got the chance to get the whole series on DVD I did and I have watched it many times but now they are repeating it on TPTV and yes I am watching it when it’s on Saturday and still love it and I am in my 60s 😊
I had this and others on cassette in the 90s during the Thunderbirdmania. They were great listens.
I have played that record "21 minutes of adventure" as a youngster so many times i could work out exactly where you paused Scotts narration, particularly in the launch of thunderbird 2. This brought back happy memories of now crackly overplayed records ,some of which are stuck in a corner of my garage , along with that "The Daleks" version of Doctor who which was also audio narrated.....More please
Probably the first record I ever owned and I got it for Christmas in the late 60s. Brought back many memories of listening to it my parent's house in Bedford.

Wow that brought back memories. As a child we had the film for a Super 8 projector, but with no sound. We also had the soundtrack on vinyl (a double album as I remember). Much fun trying to keep the album and film in sync.

i have the LP record with this drama on. played 100s of times. on side B is a mini episode with the Captain Scarlet story about the hijacking of the Goliath aircraft by the Mysterons.

Man, Scott Tracey did the most impressive job at recaping Internation Rescue's first mission to save the Firefly from The Hood's evil sabotage! This was definatly an amazing way to introduce a classic "Thunderbirds" episode in this special "Thunderbirds" series! 😏🤩😉👍

The TV episode is excellent but this adaptation of the mini album combining the original TV shots and new puppetry with the audio is truly brilliant.
The special effects for a 1965 kids programme are very good. The first episodes on British TV were all showed in Black & White.
In 1966 I was in hospital having my tonsils out, while I was under sedation someone swapped their broken thunderbird 3 for mine…. I didn’t get it back…. nuff said!
I had this album given to me for my tenth birthday, April 1970. It also had an episode of Captain Scarlet on the other side, featuring the World Airforce Goliath. I just about wore the thing out playing it. Can't remember what happened to it though

What helps to make these work is how it is not played for laughs, the humour is subtle, and the poignant scenes you could imagine today’s action heroes in the lead saying those lines as they do in the movies…. “This is Tom Cruise in Thunderbird One going to Mach 10, ETA 2 minutes” Makes your blood tingle huh!
He's not a patch on Scott, although the size difference is less marked than it might be...
I still have the lp. A captain scarlet episode was on the other side.
This is the recording from the original 33 and a third rpm record rejigged and recalibrated from almost 50 years ago! But I remember this from the late 1960's with a great deal of fondness. I never forgot it.

@@omegaaltana9426 Indeed, this was a Rpm Record that was recorded in the mid 1970's and Scott Tracy - or the late Shane Rimmer was the narrator of this story. I loved it and often played it on a Record Player. Predated the Video and DVD players that we had.. It was often left to our imagination to recap the actual story. It was an audio film ! Much like Independence Day UK some twenty years later in the mid 1990's.

Fantastic! I wasn't able to watch the stream where this was played a few years back so it's great to get the chance now. Though it's so wierd to see the 'this episode' montage for Trapped in the Sky and not hear Kyrano's scream!
this was kids entertainment back in the day, but this episode and others, was more like a cinematic feature film ..

Thanks so much for uploading this episode. It’s a really cool ‘super cut’. I remember 30th September 1965 very clearly. I had been incredibly excited about Thunderbirds, having watched Gerry Andersons’ shows from Four Feather Falls. This episode was awesome even though it was on a small black and white TV! I also remember we were going to a family wedding reception, so I never saw the end of the episode for years. Watching the series in HD on a huge TV six decades later is still as much fun, (although I have no idea why the UK BluRay is cropped to 16:9 - and you need the Region 1 for a proper 4:3 ratio)
Also thanks for Filmed on Supermariation and the new episodes, they were brilliant and my son and grandson also enjoyed them! You just can’t beat miniature work and your’s is up there with the best. (Bit of a Thunderbird fan and proud owner of several TV21 and Thunderbird annuals from the 60’s, next to a copy of Filmed in…, The Vault and Century 21FX)

I thought it was needless as might as well just keep the original in as it's already being used in it plus it's the proper footage with the correct puppet in
@@adamrooney517 but we already have the actual footage in the 50 minute episode, this is a fabulous use of the new Scott puppet (and the original Scott smiled through the whole thing, which was a bit weird)
@@ACtheLegend Yeah but like the rest of the footage it was from the initial episode and the only change needed really was Alan's voice although could film dialogue or scene and say he had a sore throat in this episode hence the change of voice
@@adamrooney517 Thunderbird 1s cockpit was reorientated at the airport and two other scenes werent in the original episode. There are a lot of little changes throughout.

Were there ever any outtakes / filmed items not broadcast but on VT etc from the original Anderson / ITC productions of any in the series etc ?
None have ever turned up.
The voice of Scott was Shane Rimmer who appeared in the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me".

This edit is probably close to how the original episode would have played out when Thunderbirds was first conceived as a 30 min show. THE greatest pilot episode ever made!
Ah. I have this on cassette. I have this, riccochet, the one where alan is trapped on a bridge (it starts witha racecar thing) and the one where parker is on top of a ski lift car (wanda lamour)
And she had visitors coming to the stately home - ah she beat me to it!
These were broadcast on radio 5. They were such a hit that the BBC bought the series for broadcast in tha autumn of 1991.

I saw this the first time around, but only now do I notice the subtle fixes made to the episode: Alan's voice and then correct reorientation of TB1's cockpit. If and when we get a UK physical release of the anniversary episodes (I'm still holding out hope!) it'd be nice to include these mini album edits too, since they're continuations of the voice preservation project.
