the music is pleasant and for me, if I read the instructions while watching these flying fingers, it reinforces the action. We'll see how it works for me the first time I watch and do it along with the demonstrator, who makes it look quite easy. Can't wait !
If you wrap the stitches the other way (from the back over the the top to the front) they will be properly mounted and you can just knit them through the front as normal.
It seems to take some time. I guess it could go faster when you do it a lot. Good to know because one never knows when it might come in handy. I can see if you happen to have a lot of stitches, oh boy! Just a thought.
That's going to be a little tricky-you could wrap so that there's one extra stitch and immediately decrease (k2tog or ssk) after getting the stitches set up.
Hi Diane! As we said in the description box, this is ideally used for toe-up socks. That's why there's a photo of the Hartland Slipper Socks in the video-they're toe-up socks that begin with this cast-on. You could also use it for mittens if you chose to knit them from the top down.
You can try wrapping the yarn the other way as Kaire Louise mentions below. We've never had trouble working it the way shown in the video but we understand that people knit very differently!
The concern with the narration is that if you pause the video to see what's happening, you lose the sound. With the text on the screen, you can at least read what's happening while the video is paused.
I agree. We could always turns the volume off on our speakers, but I kept waiting for a voice to butt in giving us some further instructions, so I did not want to turn the volume off. How about just having a voice repeat the writing on the screen and never mind that "music"?
Love this Slient video. Able to Read along, taking notes. Easy to follow. many thanks

Watched for now. Can't wait to try😊
Very nice simple video on Turkish Cast on Tech. Wish you would show tech. using continental knitting method.
Nice! Might use this for next socks 😁

Kaire Louise yes! The way this is demonstrated is NOT the best way to do it.
maddening music but very clear thanx
agreed, found rather than relaxing it made me tense.

How many wraps around if you need an odd number of sts?

It's something different but what would you use it for?

I have tried this and I get half way done on the fist row and I can't finish knitting the second half of the stitches

Can I use this instead of Judy's magic cast on?
Absolutely!
Thank you only have a few minutes to go thru, sorry to bother you.
I would like your tutorials better if they were narrated. I liked it when it was "Emily Explains."

That music makes my teeth itch!! Hard to concentrate on the video!!

Mute your laptop/cell/tablet when viewing & you do not hear the music.
