    Great tutorial. It's very clear and easy to follow. I've got to admit that I was stumped when I was reading a pattern for Turkish socks and it just said, "Turkish cast on." Thank you for alleviating my worry.

    This is a lovely neat way to cast on toe up, which I've shied away from for so long. I'll use this method when I cast on, thank you so much for sharing.

    As usual, Jane, your instructions are clear, concise, and really easy to follow. Thanks for making my first Turkish cast on a success; a beautiful toe with no weird holes anywhere. And, since, I'm using your "Climb" pattern for my first toe-up socks, I know that the socks I make will turn out beautifully too. Thanks Jane.

    Would you consider doing this type of video for the collar on the Fireside Pullover? I've purchased the pattern, but it's just not clicking, and the visual aid would help tons. Thank you so much for the consideration.

    Since we drop the slip knot, are we to cast on one more to total the required number of stitches? For example, I have to cast on 210 (for a final # of 420) and since I am to drop the slip knot, do I cast on 211? Thanks for the wonderfully clear instruction as well!

    • @susannawarner6817
      @susannawarner6817 7 лет назад

      HI, I have done it a few times and you don't need to wrap 211 times because when you wrap you wrap 210 times which will give you 420 stitches. You will see because when you start working the 'stitches, you will have 210 stitches on each needle because you wrapped 210 times. I hope this helped you.

      I have this problem too. I always end up with one less stitch on my top needle

    I can't wait to try this - is this also occasionally called 'Aloha' cast on? I have a pattern that calls for that, so I was trying to find a tutorial for it, but it looks like this might be it.

    I'm feeling really frustrated because there are lots of videos that show the Turkish cast on but none that show how to join the stitches so that I am knitting in the round

    Thank you for such a a clear tutorial! Can I ask what brand of needles are you using?

    • @JaneRichmond
      @JaneRichmond  10 лет назад +3

      I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial! The needles I am using are Knit Picks Nickel Plated Needles, they are my absolute favorite, I use them exclusively. I really like slippery needles and they have really nice pointy tips, even in the larger sizes! Highly recommend.

    I am trying to use this cast on for your pattern the fireside pullover. I am really struggling. Is this the same idea for the sweater? For example do I have to only cast on half the amount of stitches for the sweater pattern as well or is that only for socks? Thank you!!

    • @JaneRichmond
      @JaneRichmond  6 лет назад

      Hi Crystal! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!! For the Fireside Pullover you will need to make 36 wraps around the needles.
