Went to see Terry Reid at a small venue in Scotland. Everyone left after the gig and me and my friends ended up sitting drinking with him in the bar until all hours. We were all drinking brandy and he just sat and told stories about hanging with Jimi, the Stones and Hollywood actors. Absolute sweetheart and loved hanging out. One of the best nights ever!
Amazing story! When was this?
Sebastian Öström Few years ago. 2015 maybe? 2016? Can’t remember exactly, but it was around then.
Similar story as I saw him in Birmingham UK one night and I saw him after his gig and asked him to sign his River Revisited CD. It went from him signing it to us getting a drink at the bar and chatting away. I actually started to feel like I was intruding on him as we were talking for some time, but no he was happy to keep talking about music and what was happening in the future. It ended up with me saying I have to go as it was getting late. Lovely, lovely bloke and a wonderful musician and singer. The best.
i guess I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Brecken Alejandro I watch on flixzone. Just google for it =)
"Seed of Memory" I could listen to Terry for days, stories and songs. What a cool dude
That's the one brother. When a good friend first played Seed to me at college all those years ago, I was gobsmacked. I still am.
I’m glad he’s making more money nowadays. He’s a very special singer, writer, musician and a good human. I’d love to hear more of his stories. He tells a good story and praises others.
Terry was fucking awesome back in the day. Still is. That seed of a memory album is in my top 5 ever. Cheers
A wonderful musician and reportedly a lovely down to earth bloke. Just listening to his beautiful RIVER album.
Terry's the best what a great dude ✌️
Loved this And anything Terry !
He is a supreme Talent! I'm hoping he is still doing well! He has written some fantastic music! 🎸
It’s crazy how Terry didn’t get the recognition he deserves! He should be mentioned with the greats…his music really got me through some of my darkest days🥹. Thank you Terry for sharing your art and talent with the world. Your music will forever be timeless❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💯💯👏👏👊👊
Terry Reid is a legend and incredibly sweet
The man is a legend. Still kicks ass live.
What a honor to be in the presence of mr terry Reid I absolutely love him 😫‼️❤️
Hats, off to Terry. His second album was a major effort .Wore it out. What ,He said on Hendrix ,was spot on .A jazz master musician ,forget Blues .He was there
Seeds of memory album is always in the playlist. Terry Reid, so good. I wish this was longer.
Such a great album!
Now there's a man with a few good stories, who also knows how to tell 'em. What an amazing interview, thanks Mark for copping this one!
THANK YOU FOR THIS, to think we wouldn't have zeppelin if it wasnt for this guy... Thank you for taking the time and sharing this to his fans.
Great interview! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I would love to hear the stories that Terry told mark, that didn't make it to this video. 🤫
I was at NAMM last year, and I had a brief meeting with Mark regarding my vintage string collection. Shortly thereafter, I'm in the main Gibson room, and I hear this scraggly voice. I said, "I know that voice." I turn around and say: "You're Terry Reid!" He shakes my hand, and he says, " '...oo are you then?" We've been friends every since❣️
Great looking guy in his younger years!
So CUTE he was 16 !
I saw Terry with the Stone on that 1969 tour! Ihad 2 of his albums by thenm and actually getting to see him was a gas!
What an amazing talent. He has a true sense of musicality that most of us strive for. Superlungs.
Donovan wrote Superlungs about groupies
so humble! as someone who, imo is arguably as good or better than most of those he mentions, to say hes fortunate to still be friends with them! I am new to the Terry reid world sadly, didnt know about him until I just heard he was first choice for zep.. its a shame he wasnt put on a bigger stage, but leads me to believe he may still have his soul too.. so im ok with it! looking forward to diving more into his story though, pure quality!
Only 800 views!!! That's F'd up...Terry is A True Legand, Terrific Rock N Roll Lungs!!! Great Interview Mark.
What a gent
Dude this is fucking awesome. Love Terry
Great interview and coincidence. I had just watched Joe B talking about Terry and how he’d come to buy his Tele. Look him up on RUclips playing the same guitar at Glastonbury in 1971. You won’t regret it. Great stuff Mark. Get him on for a full biog.
YES!!! Finally the legend Sir Terry of Cambridgeshire! Thank you Gibson.
Huntingdonshire.
The first guy who was 'cool' that I saw a picture of playing a Les Paul was Terry Reid, circa '69, Circus Magazine (sorry Bloomfield and EC ;)
LEGEND!
Great interview with Joe, and I've found my way here too. I've been a fan of Terry Reid for years and his work has influenced my own work. Thank you very much!
Wow thanks for the History
Americans hearing Terry say that he left school at 15 need to understand that in the United Kingdom, students graduate at just 15, whereas here in the USA students normally graduate at 18. Therefore, Terry had completed all his basic schooling by the time that he became a full time, professional musician.
That hasn't been true since the seventies, plus our system is entirely different...
very early 70s
Fantastic musician and great guy, by the sounds of it. Genuine.
Fucking awesome!!!
You are the best singer, dear Terry, GOD blesse you for ever. Mirador = Mireille Laurys.
I had a few drinks w/Terry Reid & his buddy Mick Taylor @ a club in L.A. in 1993..........I do not recognize him now ! Guy has a tremendous voice for a li'l Guy !
I think he FINALLY STOPPED drinking and Smoking too
He reminds me of the old roadie Del on Wayne’s World telling his stories. I could listen to him all day.
Top man. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sos un gran cantante y guitarrista Terry 😊
very cool...
Legend himself!!
Great Terry Wow R'n R !
The MAN !!!!
Well lookie there!
That is when Jimi first said the famous line. "I'm Jimi the man from Mars, and i play the Guitar!." LMAO. would have loved to have seen all the other guitar heroes faces.
Don't cut this RnR legend off, Mark.
✌🇧🇷
Terry Reid is Lee Anderton in 20 years.
Don't take it away.
Detroit Grande Ballroom in about 1969
A great guy to share a few beers with, I'd imagine.
Think it would be a fair bit more than a few somehow !
Hes SOBER finally thankfully or jed be Dead
Alcoholism plagued his life
That's why he's so animated and happy now
Plus a good marriage
With all my heart I wish that Terry would go to a dentist and get his teeth cleaned and fixed. It would go a long ways in improving his health and his overall looks.
The man who turned jimmy page down
To be Led Zeppelin singer
Savvy
I wonder if Joe B. might be slightly (at least) cringing at Terry's description of the transaction process. Seems like high-end collectors rarely, if ever, want it disclosed how much they paid, let alone how they paid. A suitcase? Wow! And has Joe ever talked about that Tele, which supposedly has a 1949 (?) neck? It must be almost a unicorn and a huge piece of early Fender history.
That awkward moment when he talks about a fender telecaster on the official channel of Gibson 😅
The interviewer was so pissed that he talked about a fender tele on “Gibson TV” . So Terry Reid, screw gibson.
3 people don't know who the fuck they're looking at.
Geez Terry take some of that 20 grand and fix yer teef...
Nice comment .. I’m sure you’re looking top notch
A reminder for those who don't know...Terry turned down Led Zeppelin AND Deep Purple!
