We’ve just received delivery of a Grove Pond Yacht. The pure design and exquisite craftsmanship are breathtaking. We bought it as a gift - but will now need to acquire our own.
Would you have any funny stories you can share with me about this type of Yachting? I've been researching this type of craft from the Victorian era and would love to hear any sailing stories. I make my living as a Dental Tec. and the fine detail knocks me out too. Hope to make my own someday.
I had a beautiful plank J class type yacht i think from the 1920s my Dad was given in the 50s, i did sail it a few times in the 60s , i kept it wrapped up in a blanket for about 30 yrs until i sadly had to sell it in 2001, i got £500 for it from an antiques shop even thought it was in a sorry state.
@@SailorGerry I know when i sold it over 20 yrs ago the shop had 2 for sale at £2000 , mine needed some work done to it , When i moved the first guy i spoke to in the pub was a model boat restorer. i dont have any photos of it .

Some old pond sailboats from the 1920's and 30's can fetch over US$10,000...

Great film. Is it too much trouble to include a link to their website?
just google Grove model yachts
so does it takes years to master a bread and butter construction method?
