I don't think the different colors would be realistic, but instead we could have flashlights that just give off a very bright light and basically acts like a constant, worse flashbang as you said in the start of the video
we could have multiple (white) flashlights with different AOEs, higher AOE makes the handling/reload/ads/movement slower for balancing

Great ideas, though some needs changing.
those affects to other players are a bit eehh imo. (in the way that it's a bit too game breaking, imagine some setups pairing lazers and flashlights together. This could end up being quite op.)
Stylis does need to make the flashlight useful though, it's begging for it.
You forgot to mention that i'm sure there's no way the flashlight would still be unlocked from 0 kills after these changes (I'm sure you'd agree with me.)

Hey Moon! Just wanted to drop in, maybe the flashlight changes could be a part of an entire new gamemode named "Exclusion Delusion" where certain guns are disabled, but the enabled ones have unique abilities that aid the user or harm the enemy, alongside each light/laser attachment having their own special changes. Or the more assumable and likely route, Stylis may add this but tweak the abilities to make it less annoying to fight against.
Edit: some guns are going to be hella meta if this idea becomes real, so abilities can't be too broken (example being an auto-spot AoE around you)

They could lower recoil very slightly , after all the heavier the gun the less kick . The maglight would slightly decreases mobility for slightly lower recoil due to its weight . The blinding mechanic could be made better by making the light visible from range thus giving you a cqc advantage while making you very noticeable from range . Lastly they could auto spot enemies in your line of sight up to a range

Giving the flashlight a smaller and significantly more focused cone, enough so that it has some use in aiming, would be enough to give it a purpose. It already occupies the same slots as lasers, may as well have it act as a laser alternative.

Instead of colors i was thing low-med-high intensity flashlights.
They would have ranging AOE's, and effectiveness. But would mainly consist of the blinding effect. While your concepts are neat, I don't see any real pratically in a gun attachment. As most of them would struggle to be good in pratice. Since 90% have the counterplay of just shooting the guy.
Instead, your debuff could be employed by EM dispersors.
Employed like grenades these items these item sit and radiate their AOE over a given range, they can be destroyed by being shot, they are easy to find because they emanate a white noise effect.
For the first option, a simple Chaff grenade could be used, but im gonna add an IFF scrambler, inverting enemy and allies one the minimap.
The green and blue would be bundled into one as the HUD scrambler.
The blue flashlight concept is converted into the F.U.M.B.L.E a device that uses ultra low vibrations to mess with hand-eye coridination. It increase recoil across the board and increases reload ADS and even move speed. Basically feeling likely you're moving in molasses.
The Orange is concerted into an EMP device, disabling holos and _Fookin laser sights_ along with all this other nonsense.
Notably, flashlights are the only ones to be effected by scopes. Giving them the purpose of flashbanging snipers.
Now, instead of the color coordination bonus, another concept simply called signalboosting.
Wherein if two generators overlap, they give positive effects to allies.
EMF acts like a UAV. NTW20x110, anyone?
The HUD jammer lets you see enemy and allies HP and ammo.
And Fumble just flat out increases your gun's preformance across the board! You even regen HP faster!
Now, you can't have two of these at a time, so it encourages a bit of teamwork.

To be honest, this would be extremely infuriating to fight against since it adds some pretty hindering random elements into a game that already had so much randomness built into the loadout system, especially the yellow flashlight concept.
Just the blinding light is enough i guess, since being able to make the enemy unable to see a part of their screen at any given time is powerful enough for such a fast paced game.

A person called @bigdued7039 made the following suggestion:
"Same AOE idea, but instead of blinding the enemy or messing with their UI, it automatically spots them without needing to press E"
Valid idea, but this just replaces the Ballistics Tracker as just a better/cheaper version of BT. So, in adjustment to this, I propose that while it spots enemies, it would reveal your position the entire time you have the gun out - if you switch to a gun that doesnt have a flashlight or a melee that isnt the flashlight, your position is hidden once again but will be revealed -again- constantly when you use the weapon with the flashlight.

These flashlight colors are just dumb gimmicks that are annoying and will imo just make gunplay feel bad. Another comment that I saw suggests using the flashlight as a way to auto-spot enemies, which I think is way better in terms of providing a reasonable benefit while not downgrading gunplay. A reply in that comment section said that should be saved for a ballistics tracker rework, but I think the ballistics tracker should display the distance from your position to the target that you are aiming at or maybe show the geometry of the map on the radar.

I like the idea of reworking Flashlights, but I'm not a fan of the proposed ideas.
Biggest issue with the blind mechanic is that madmen can just throw a flashlight on then play rush and forcibly blind you whenever they start a 1v1, which won't be fun. Furthermore, the blind multiplier for scope magnification will make sniping and flashlight user literal hell. If they look at you, your scope is just all white. Not fun nor interactive.
I also dislike the colored flashlight mechanics. They're random, unnecessary, or horribly unfun to fight against. Doesn't make sense for a flashlight to break my minimap, and I don't want to have a meta where my reticle is gone, or my screen is rotating whenever someone looks at me. These are indescribably bad mechanics. Take no offense, not meant to be personal.
If I had to throw a bone, I'd make flashlights spot enemy players in its AoE to you and your teammates instead of blinding you. I would also let the spot persist when an enemy leaves your AoE, lingering for like a second or two. Very short, but still a nice buff for the user. Also acts as a unique team mechanic. I would also like the AoE to be a cone rather than a circle, would make more sense. I like the different colored flashlights concepts. Let's make *White, Blue, Green, Yellow* and *Red,* each lighting an area in their respective colors.
_> _*_White_*_ will be the basic flashlight with a 30 stud AoE. Enemies in the AoE will be spotted, which lingers on them for an additional _*_1.3 seconds_*_ once they leave the AoE._
_> _*_Blue_*_ will have a narrower, longer AoE, spotting enemies as far as 50 studs at the cost of less horizontal coverage. AoE will linger for _*_1.5 seconds_*_ after they leave the AoE._
_> _*_Yellow_*_ will have a wider, shorter AoE, only spotting enemies up to 15 studs. This will be made up by the wide horizontal coverage, bathing any enemies around you in an ugly yellow light. AoE lingers for _*_1.15 seconds_*_ after exiting the AoE._
_> _*_Green_*_ will have a wider, longer AoE, shining up to 40 studs. Enemies will NOT be spotted however. Instead, enemies in the AoE will show up on the minimap for ALL to see, lingering for _*_2.5 seconds_*_ once leaving the AoE._
_> _*_Red_*_ will be narrower and shorter, only reaching to 20 studs, but will spot enemies for longer. When an enemy leaves the AoE, they will remain spotted for a whopping _*_2.25 seconds._*
    Hope this was interesting.

Some form of the first idea for the flashlight being a weaker flashbang I could see working with some tweaks (to ensure there's fair counter-play and it's not just the one who uses flashlight that wins), but everything else with the colors and stuff seem way too exotic, bizarre, and frankly unrealistic for phantom forces. Sure, there are some bizarre and unrealistic melees, but they don't effect gameplay, they are just cosmetic. It's also not very intuitive or new player friendly, you wouldn't expect your screen to rotate or your ammo count to lie to you because someone was using a weirdly colored flashlight. Also consider what it would be like playing against these flashlights: it wouldn't really add another dimension to the gunfights, it would just be that you get nerfed whenever you happen to be in the AoE of one... and it would give even more reasons to not go CQB with anything other then a shotgun. Seems to me like it would just be an annoyance rather then an interesting gameplay dynamic to actually think about.
With the original idea with the flashbang flashlight, I think that could work. For counter-play sake I think it would be a good idea to have the flashlight beam be visible to the enemy team, just not using the dynamic light system but a transparent image (like how Jailbreak does spotlights, if you've seen that), and maybe buff the blinding effect to balance that out. I think something like that could actually add some depth to the gameplay, getting an advantage in head to head combat for aggressive gameplay, but losing stealth. You would think differently about engaging a flashlight-user, trying to figure out where he's looking and flank him with the extra information given.. and the flashlight-user would have to think differently, figuring out how to engage enemies without being expected and being weary of who knows his location.

fun fact: stylis briefly was considering having a flashlight rework with the future is bright update. this could mainly be seen in the zombie forces beta testing. i have a vid of it on my channel

The yellow flashlight (or ANY Flashlight at all) might as well make the 40x useless (even when it's already useless) AND give someone motion sickness in SECONDS.

I feel like this changes the game too much, personally i think flashlights should just automatically E to spot players without making you point.

I'd say this is way to convoluted and makes the game all the more complex than it needs to be. A more effective use of a flashlight would be that it spots an enemy inside the AOE.

I think the Yellow Flashlight would just give the enemy player suffer increased Suppression Radius. The camera rotate is just too much to experience.

By the way, have they fixed that BS bug when you can't see anything with certain scopes? I had the issue of some scopes turning completely white due to "sun", despite having literally all settings off.
As someone who had to play "flashed" due to that bug, flashlight would be annoying

I don't like the idea of giving the flashlights weird effects that mess with enemy players, because it would feel unfair. Plus, locking the maglight's abilities behind an achievement barrier doesn't change the fact that it's still frustrating to fight and op. I think it's better to just go with the original "flashbang alternative" idea as well as making the crosshair disappear. Useful against snipers and in cqb, but not messing with the enemy ui.

we really need to have a system in the game where you unlock unique attachments and guns with kills. Being able to prebuy everything kind of sucks, and it would give rank 200+ players who have every gun unlocked another incentive to play.

i really like the idea and i could have never thought of anything better, but different colored flashlights would like be a copy and based instead they could be different kind of things like ecm jammers (red and green) and for the blue flashlight there isnt any alternative neither for the yellow imo but ye really good concept now they should add back the equipment and actually make it a thing and imo it could be a bit similar to payday 2's perk decks/skills you select a equipment lets say its a perk deck which if you spot an enemy they will take 10% plus dmg imo that would be good but kinda op anyway idk any other person's thoughts so lmk and if you see this please make a vid about it cuz i wanna know your thoughts on this idea

Honestly flaslight should automatically spot people in range

The tradeoff of flashlights: Glint effect that is seen by enemy players from within a large range when your aim cone hits them, similar to sniper scope glints in some Battlefield games. That way, you have to reconsider using flashlights, especially on maps with extra-long sightlines.

I was thinking that the flashlight, could automatically spot enemy’s, and have each of the effects you stated, but just bit less severe, also, the flashlight could also reduce camera recoil just a bit.

I know this isn't exactly a universal fix to flashlights but i would love some blackout maps or map varients where the lighting setting does not affect and you actually need to use a flashlight to see. This would also give the nightvison scope a purpose

really cool idea but sight magnification doesnt matter when hipfiring which hipfire plays a large role in cqc and these flashlight ideas are obviously cqc, plus the yellow one if designed for snipers makes no sense cause noone is ads'ing a 10x scope cqc and if they are its close enough they wont miss even with the effect of flashlight

  • @edragon3046

You give a yellow flashlight rotation to outplay snipers yet there are a lot of people running with 1.5x and the range on mirage even with 8x wont be 96 studs

nah it should just blind you and like the sight one more but that like effects would be just to complex and not fun
think, its a semi casual game, not escape from tarkov

Ik this is a quite overpowered idea, and it might be copied, but I think the red flashlight should have a twist. When your target is in the range of your red flashlight, the enemies radar glitches showing that your teammates are the enemies teammates and so the player will be tricked and yea…

This would be so cancer to actually play when you consider the fact that every single person would use a flashlight (or like 3)

  • @theunknownplayer9634

People gonna use flashlight variant more than laser variant, plus more of snipers' best attachment when getting cqc

That would be annoying as hell to play against. Would be better if stylis just made some new dark maps or something
