- With the 25th pick of the 2024 NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers select ... Jordan Morgan, an offensive tackle from the University of Arizona. PackersNews.com writers Tom Silverstein, Ryan Wood and JR Radcliffe discuss the selection, one that may have caught some people off guard.
Will he stay at tackle, and will he play right away for the Packers? Was it surprising to see Green Bay pass up an opportunity to grab a cornerback, namely Cooper DeJean? The NFC North as a whole got a lot better on Thursday; did the Packers?

Dallas screwed themself----- they thought they could screw GB by giving Detroit the pick that GB wanted. Then they thought the Pak would take the DB from Iowa. What they did was take the best T left. Then Tampa took the lineman from Duke. leaving the lineman left for Dallas. Dallas grade for draft was B- while Packers was B.
The other option out there is if the LB group tends to start falling in early 2nd round and it is clear we can get one at #41...then I would hold on and take one of those LBs still available at #41. I think we could get Junior Colson or Jeramiah Trotter Jr. at that spot. We then package #88 and #91 to move back into the mid to late #40's (like 46-49 and take the best safety still on the board like DeJean or Nubin if still there....we might even go for a center like Powers-Johnson or CB Kool-Aid McKinstry
FWIW son & I watched a lot of AZ games last year because the qb Fifita played at Servite HS here in Orange County - he had a great season as an undersized first-year starter. Didn’t focus on Morgan specifically but Fifita rarely got pressured or sacked.
Ryan wood, sir, this is the first time I’ve agreed on your take about that packers with your insight to this 1st round pick by Gutey. I Love the pick. I know you guys wanted desean but that’s a risky move with that high draft Capitol.
So you think it's smarter to use a first round pick on a guy who's not good enough to start at tackle? A first rounder for a backup player??? The analysts all say he's a guard at the NFL level.
@@tort1305ya because the dipshit analysts from espn are never wrong, right?
The pick is in and I trust Gutey. He built a very good Oline and then completely rebuilt the receiving corps. Now we need help again at Oline due to losing three guys and he did that. Maybe they get the best out of Dillard too.
O line was the biggest need in an O line rich 1st round.
Now we offer pick #41 and pick #91 in order to move up to say like #34. We take either Cooper DeJean or better yet....one of the top LBs in Payton Wilson, Junior Colson or maybe Trevin Wallace. All good solid picks that the Packers need.
I think Dallas thought he'd be there later and if so, it backfired.
Spoon is spot on. Think it was close with Barton and Morgan and they think Morgan can play tackle
Kenny Clark wasn´t in mocks either
Experts thought packers would trade back looking at the board. Morgan would have been gone by pick 41. at worst, a couple picks early Morgan allows Gutey to dissect the draft with 4 picks left in the top 92. Here comes the Pack!!
Braden Fiske at 41 just screams Packers!!
We could have gotten them both in the 2nd round!!
@@vegasj305 who, Morgan and Fiske?
DL!!! Or McKinstry, we need a 2nd lockdown corner!! Or a replacement for Jaire a year ahead of schedule!!
The packers got the best scout team in the nfl
@@user-hl6iy9tf1o I love Gute and the team!!
I wouldn't mind if the team took another O-lineman at #41 if Gutey's board lines up that way‼️🤔🎯💯💯
Powers johnson to match would crush defenses
How’d you like to be a Falcons fan?
Fans reading all those internet sites got them f'd up lol..
L first take
Overdraft a guard with ACL issues, typical Green Bay 101!! Don't trade back and get more draft capital...why do that when we get a guard masquerading as a tackle!! That Bakhtiari guy being injured all the time was SO MUCH FUN, lets run it back!! When you don't need a QB and 6 go in the first round you're basically drafting 19th and still getting screwed by drafting a 2nd round guy!! NOBODY knows. media guys!!
and yet you work at Home Depot
Morgan isn’t a guard. He can play guard, but he can play Tackle. His arm length is not an issue for the Packer because they don’t use the standard blocking techniques. He has about the same length arms as Bryan Bulaga.
It has been reported that other teams had him on their boards in the late 1st. Guty was thinking of trading back, but though all the options were too far back. Hindsight proved him right.
@@sdn40 Retired Air Force sparky!! Shut up!!
What team are you a gm for?
Hard to question Gutekunst as he had one of the best drafts in the NFL last year. If Morgan becomes a 8-10 year starter with some All Pro years, then it’s a great draft pick at 25. Time will tell.
