I have put suitcase weights on my box blade to help with the down pressure, it worked but chipped things up a bit. Can't wait to have these so I always have that extra weight there. Thanks for the great videos and truth about all the products and venders. It is truly a breath of fresh air!!! The new shop is looking great too!

    Thanks Courtney, you are honest with your reviews, and understand that every dollar counts with your customers and viewers. You also understand the “bang for your buck”. I think everyone wants to know that if something costs more it should do more, or truly be a better product. “the Green brand” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better.
    I really like to know what’s “Made in The USA”!!!
    That’s worth a few extra bucks to me if it’s close or better built. Thanks for pointing that out with products!

    I just installed a SpeeCo e-hitch. Where has this been all my life? Sooooo much easier to swap-out attachments. I added the Bolt-On pins to replace the bolts to fasten the top hook. Handy as all get out. I don't care what color my attachments are as long as they are rugged and reliable. My firewood shagging carryall is built on an older carry-all frame and I will have to chop out some of the box lumber to get clearance for the lower hooks. Not a major issue. I'll probably remove the lift arm pins and poke the wood a bit with a chainsaw tip to get clearance.

    It is very good how you have done all this research and value frugality, Courtney. When I bought mine I did not know your videos and just bought the imatch. There’s nothing “wrong” with the imatch, unless one considers that every attachment you use needs a set of spacer shims for those huge pin sockets in the imatch. Those shims cost around fifty bucks now. They were about 30 before the Biden corruption but if you have 5 attachments that’s a value factor. The frugality and wisdom you research and delve into would have been good for me to know about four years ago. I am not thinking I would spend as much on the green paint than I have spent on shims. All this means Buy the Speeco (and a can of green paint-LOL)!! Excellent stuff!

    On the i-Match weight bracket (and the Speeco weight bracket), I wonder if where you have the bolt sticking out for the retaining strap, if instead you could bring the plate steel further out on both sides so that it extends a little under the gusset on the hitch, drill a hole, and use a clevis pin with a lynch pin to keep the bracket in place. That way it could be quickly removed without having to unbolt it. It might rattle a little more than with the retaining strap, but so much else rattles on tractors that I doubt you'd hear it anyway.

They didn't mention it in the video it just stuck out to me. Do you find that there is a little more wiggle room on a Speeco? And if so could that cause a performance issue depending on the attachment?? As a side note I'm still new to the compact tractor world and watching your videos are extremely helpful..thank you.

    Getting a 1025R soon and it seems like I should go with this Speeco version. And the counterweight isn’t something I’ve accounted for in this purchase process. That versabracket seems like a good option with the weight options and the ability to move a trailer which I’ll need to do. So far, it seems like Deere just has that ballast box.

  • @kdeckster
    @kdeckster Год назад +2

    Seems to me that adding weights to the quick hitch itself will just add pressure to the latches, they seem only designed to be retain the pins in the hook rather than carry any weight. Any thoughts on that?

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Год назад +2

      I understand that concern and we thought about it as well. “Normal” attachments that are hundreds more pounds often bounce around and bump into, ram into, or ride against a latch depending on application. Tillers, discs, box blades, and more all ride on very uneven surfaces as they are being pulled. Those latches actually take a lot of impact and load on a fairly regular basis. It can be tough to see, but try turning around and watching one of those attachments and how the pins move within the quick hitch slot. Sometimes they’ll be stationary, but that latch is definitely getting a workout a lot of the time. So, I think those pins would have failed long ago on most hitches unless robustly designed.
      I’ve had no issues with my own hitches and no reported issues from all the Hangers in the field either.

    Pat’s Quick Hitch installs easily, fits any Cat 1 or Cat 2 three point arms. The weight savings is close to 100#. I used them on a BX and then moved them to an LX. Pat’s will easily work with attachments that are not quick hitch compatible.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Год назад

      Pats weighs 25 lbs compared to 70 for the Speeco. That’s a 45 lb difference, not nearly 100 lbs. More weight is typically beneficial on the back of a tractor.
      We get many customers that upgrade from Pat’s system. It is an improvement over no system and a good choice if your attachments aren’t quick hitch compatible. A real quick hitch is on another level.

  • @jimschmitz6192

    I just purchased a cat 1 quick hitch from my local JD dealer that was very similar to the Speeco (didn’t require bushings), however it wasn’t compatible with my Frontier box blade. The quick hitch top link built into the box blade is the same size as the bushings and won’t fit in the top hook on the quick hitch. I had to return it and get the iMatch plus buy an extra set of bushings (two come with it). The Speeco style would work with my Heavy Hitch weight bracket.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  3 месяца назад

      The JD ballast box is an anomaly. However, it works with the Speeco. There is no physical way for the pins to slide out left or right. There is steel in the way that stops it. If you bought bushings for the ballast box, then I'm not sure how the Speeco still worked anyways.

  • @frankponte4031
    @frankponte4031 Год назад

    Understand the benefit of the Speeco QH not requiring the lower bushings but attachment positioning is more critical. Also the price @ ~$100 less is very attractive. The larger diameter of the lower bushing saddles on the Deere (and other) QH's makes attachment placement and connections less "fussy."

    • @JaseVaughn

      I was just thinking that myself. But those bushings add up over time for sure. I have a land pride QH 15. Great quick hitch.
