I will thank to God that God gave us this man Gavin hoey what a photographer..a man with perfection... simplicity...and full of entertainment.....thanks sir you have taught us so many things .....
I enjoy this Photographers tutorial better than many of the others on this channel. he really explains and shows the differences in all of the decisions he is making.
very good ! I have used that idea with a long snoot, took a cuple of pictures on a sign with the Hertz logo, and now they hang in several Hertz offices in Sweden ! 🙂
It is always amazing to me how creative you are, and how you keep coming up with new ideas and techniques. You make photography fun! Thanks so much for posting your videos.
Awesome! I was doing pet portraits and was getting a nice natural effect via sun and window and have been trying to figure out how to create this effect for times when it just can’t be done naturally. Perfect!
Pretty cool DIY hack. I've been saving some empty Pringles chips tubes to do something pretty similar. A video series of similar DIY options would be interesting to see as well.
Gavin, you are a great presenter and I have learnt a lot watching your videos. Kindly let me know how I can get razor sharp portraits in places such as a restaurant or a wedding hall with a simple speed light and without any other gear.
Excellent information provided in an easy to understand format. I always enjoy your instructional videos; this is certainly one of your best. Great resource for all low-key shooters. Thanks!
Again - I learned so much :) I'm totally new to colour filters and more new than I shud be about "Invention" you've just exploded my notions with regard use of my snoot :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
This is so cool! I bought this beginner's lighting kit...and the lights with their umbrella reflector things are wide... Should be an interesting challenge to make slivers of light with some tape!
Thank Gavin for that video, I tried yesterday to do something similar but I failed each time. With your explaination I ready for another round of shoot 🙂
வீடியோ மிகவும் பயனுள்ளதாக இருந்தது மிக்க நன்றி 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 இரா.மனோகர் சென்னை . Very useful video sir, I learned lot from it, looking forward more videos like this keep it up good work, thanks a lot sir big thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 R.MANOHAR Chennai.
I did the original snoot to illuminate a bottle label. I also used 2 layers of tracing paper, one one overlapping the tape by about 5mm and one about 3mm to feather the light slightly. It worked better with the 5mm closest to the light as I got a slightly weird line the other way round. I also tried cutting out a circle of cardboard with a square hole in it that didn’t work right at all, there’ll be some scientific reason I don’t understand for this. Great video as always, thank you and now I know why my barn doors didn’t work.
I love this. I am going try this using PVC tubing which I can slide inside of another larger PVC tubing (schedule 40) in the near future. In this way, it will be more adjustable on the fly.
Thank you for this video! I was trying to get the thin beam of light look recently and it didn’t work out with whatever modifier I used so im really glad about your helpful tip
I like all the Gavin Hoey videos, they have been very helpful. One question I have is when he is shooting are the Studio lights really turned on while using the flash? I always thought to turn off the studio lights and let the flash do all the work.
The eVlov 200, are they just a reverend Godox AD 200 ! ? Top marks to Gavin as tbi s is a very helpful video and always fun to watch. As Gavin makes the shoot just very easy to do. I am sure a pair of speedlites will be able to perform well in this type of shoot. Again many thanks to Gavin. : )
Gavin, you are a master promotor! What ever Adorama is paying you, it is not enough, LOL. You touched on and used just about all the accessories for the great eVOLV 200 strobe - plus added in a couple of your own DIY tips. Great job. Best wishes to you and Sam for 2018!

Love Gavin's tutorials, very helpful and fun but wondering where to get the concrete type backdrop?
AWESOME!!! Thanks for that!!
What if you combined the barn doors with the included grid? Think that would get you a cleaner beam of light?

Am echoing previous comment about using Magmod accessories and those magnet filters that make this DIY to be accomplished.
