  • Another set of stunners from Coles of London! These ST Dupont pens have a super long name, and it's worth saying the whole thing. These engraved and hand-lacquered pens are beautiful to the eye, weighty to the hand, and the nibs are smooth on the page. Check these out, for sure.

ST DUPONT line Atelier and D are the very best of fountain pens in the present market.

Gorgeous pens! The red is stunning. Nothing compares to ST Dupont for superior fountain pens.

That sapphire color is one of the most beautiful blues I’ve ever seen on a pen!

I have the Aquamarine one and it gives the most pleasant experience when writing.

Very nice pants I've had 3 of them for about 10 years paid around $900 for the fountain pen. I love it very well made a good workout. I almost like it better than my mont blank 149

Not so much of a lover of gold trim like you, but man the ruby pen is beautiful.

I have a Montparnasse the smaller size and I have no issue with weight, in fact both my Montegrappa Historia with celluloid body and sterling silver section and fixtures and my Mont Blanc Hitchcock with Sterling silver and resin body are heavier. I can and have had long writing sessions with the Dupont with absolute comfort. The fine 18k nib is simply the best nib I have ever written with, it just makes me want to write more and more, it is smooth but still has wonderful feedback. I’m not sure with this one but the metal on mine is bronze not brass and with the beautiful blue lacquer finish.

Great review. You think a medium nib on this pen would cause bleed through on standard paper?

This pen just now crossed my radar. The Ruby is STUNNING! Alas, I don't have the funds for it. How secure was the converter? I saw another review where the converter was loose in the pen body where the pen barrel was removed. That reminded me of a troublesome Conklin pen I have, where the converter constantly gets loose.

Beautiful and very elegant pens. Not sure I'd pull the trigger on one as you said, you can get Maki-e and Urushi for that price point.

This is my grail pen! I had a “Estie” years ago and it disappeared! Now my only dilemma will be which color!

Very nice of Coles to loan you $3K worth of pens! Thanks for the video :) I gotta say though, monstrous heavy pens with shiny metal sections... These were designed to be sold to people that aren't actually going to write with them. Say what you will about the Montblancs, but the 149 is a pen that was designed to be used!

Stunning pen for sure, but I’m just not one of those folks that has an extra grand lying around that I don’t know what to do with. I guess it is a matter of priorities; I know some will call me frivolous, but it just happens that my top priority for my hard-earned money is food. Crazy, right?! Great review, though!

I think the little leaf means that it is chinese lacquer.
