Protip: Learn swedish instead. All the scandinavian languages are quite similar and most scandinavians have an easy time understanding each other. And swedish has by far the most speakers, in that it is not only spoken in Sweden, but parts of Finland as well... The only language that is kinda hard to understand from a swedish (or norwegian) perspective would be regular danish, because of its frequent use of soft vowels. Gøta-Danish on the other hand (the danish spoken on the Faroese Islands) is almost identical to norwegian though. Which in turn is quite similar to swedish.
SYNDICAIDRAMON With Norwegian you are better off cus with Norwegian you will understand danish and sweedish better and they will understand them better too. and imho Norwegian sound more epic when put into music.
Torbjørn Kolven Whether norwegians understand the other scandinavian languages better than the others isn't necessarily always the case. And if not, then swedish is the safer bet. There's a reason why business people in Thailand learn swedish and not danish or norwegian. On the "sounds more epic" part, I totally agree though.
Shag and V were using autotune and both were quite sucking at live shows. Vortex shaved the tune bit by bit after Borknagar era but for Shag, Dimmu went into full shitpit.
I don’t think that the gents at Dimmu are truly so foolish to easily let such an element to their music go. There must have really been a conflict that made Vortex’s departure a necessity. I’m sure that Shagrath and Silenoz knew the backlash that they were going to get, and it must have been a tough choice on them. But that voice is indeed beautiful and epic. Regardless of how I will keep supporting Dimmu Borgir regardless of their lineup, I do miss what the project was with V and M in the gang. Judging by Snowy Shaw’s words after his departure from his day-long membership with Dimmu, finding someone who can play bass and sing clean vocals of this sort is extremely tough. I hope that the guys at Dimmu find a similar replacement that Kamelot found in Tommy Karevik. Not the same person as Roy Khan, but close enough to give the fans comfort.
My impression (and this is from some article I read back when they actually did kick him out, so like 9 yrs ago) is that Vortex is a colossal drunk (which is true) and they were tired with him being unprofessional, and Mustis forgot to bring his gear to some big gig. The band made a huge point of trying to make Vortex and Mustis seem like they were acting like greedy entitled rock stars and that the remaining members are honest, hard working artists. Nearly every source across the board calls bullshit on Shagrath and Silenoz's perspective, and the going consensus is that they're unbearable control freaks and are kind of crazy. And there's still time for Galder to leave and form an ex-Dimmu mega-band with Vortex, Mustis, Astennu, and NIck Barker. I can dream.
Cock Sucker - Yeah, I've heard that too. I was paraphrasing the actual press release the remaining band put out. I imagine what you're pointing out is closer to the truth, but those are "official" reasons they were released. Vortex is kind of a massive drunk, and I get that he might be kind of a drag, but still... this is a metal band, not a Wall Street company. Drunkenness is sort of par for the course, and a dude forgetting a keyboard is absolutely not a legitimate excuse for firing him, as equipment can be replaced quite quickly on site, and instruments are constantly getting lost or stolen on tour.
@@RoninWaffle I completely agree with everything you said. But even so, when looking back at the making of In Sorte Diaboli, various backstage footage and what not, Vortex seems like a big man-child with no serious interest in what's going on around him. Being in various bands for over 15 years, Vortex does NOT seem like the type of person I wanted to work with with, regardless of his talents. He generally seems like a guy you wouldn't wanna put in charge of anything, because he would never get anything done and be like "yeah.. that thing I needed to do... so... no I didn't do it.. sorry, I'll do it tomorrow". Mustis has this vibe of complete entitlement about him and constantly bitches (again making of In Sorte Diablo, complaining about the work load to the camera like he is burdened beyond reason). Shaggy & Co might be controlfreaks, but I bet it was heavily inforced by the attitude of Vortex and Mustis respectively.
I fucking miss him soooooo much....the gnarliest bassist hands down.....his presence was insane.....he's almost 7 ft tall...plays by fingers alone and can si g better then any pop star/metal singer ....there was no match...no equal
This is my favorite song on that album. His voice & the music itself at this part & right before it, it's simply everything that you want to hear in metal all in one short moment. Absolutely awesome sound here.
It is ? I've heard that its a very "hard" sounding language (harder than German because of our hard rolling R's). But Vortex sings it beautifully, no doubt about that :)
I dont know what hes saying but makes me feel like im in Norway in the snowy woods at night ...with the stars mapped out across the sky …… man I bet Norway is a beautiful country !!!
Dimmu Borgir isn't the same without you...
+VAMPARAMAT We still have Borknagar :)
Or his solo project named after his name. ;-)
P.S; Good that he left that commercial band.
Arcturus is good with his vocals
Per Sergiu: He didn't leave, he was fired.
It's true
That's years of practice and learning to use your stomach diaphragm to produce those sounds
Well dimmu kicked him out i knew that band can never be as good they were.
why the hell in every video from vortex there are people fighting over autotune, when did he use it anyway?
I don’t know for sure but I very highly doubt he did use autotune.
Vortex sounds how I imagine Odin would sound.
@kha Z gods and religion in general are.
@kha Z and what exactly do you speculate is my way of life?
no Vortex, no mustis....no Dimmu
Listening to this after years, still brings tears to my eyes.
I want to learn how to speak Norwegian now
unless you're german, you''re in for a tough time.

I'm not a German. But I'm a Brazilian
Sad chorus in metal are the best!!!
Vortex is hands down one the best vocalists ever..
When put in the right context - Dimmu for example - I can't imagine anything more beautiful..
Holy shit, how do you even learn to get this kind of voice? Vortex could level mountains with his vocals
Lots of learning and practice especially when you want to sing that high and some biological factors that determines your type of voice
Being a 6'7 viking descendant doesn't hurt :)
@@gioledda145 he is 6'7? Damn!😊
No autotune or editing needed, pure clean vocals right here
95TurboSol there is some minor editing on the vocals dude. It's pretty blatant. Not taking away from vortex as a singer. He is great either way
roadrunneruntd yeah, vocals wouldn’t leave the studio without some pitch correction for sure :P
there's a melodyne, a quite bit of delay and reverb, so yah...
He have some post here, but is perfect
Shag and V were using autotune and both were quite sucking at live shows. Vortex shaved the tune bit by bit after Borknagar era but for Shag, Dimmu went into full shitpit.
Voz de canto gregoriano maravilhosa,Vortex faz muita falta no Dimmu Borgir!!!
Beautiful voice ...long live vortex
where did you get this
raping replay button so hard

0:37 ‘This is the time for kissed the top of the hanger’
LMAO!! You fucking pothead. SMH.. I used to do that shit too when I was younger. The good old days..
a piece of heaven, good and evil
This is possible because DCA was released also as DVD-A. However record labels don't seem like these kind of videos.
When you are at the very gates of Valhalla, the only chant that open the vortex that allows you to enter is this line, like ICS Vortex sings here.
This is the best voice of the world!
Vortex, la reencarnación en la perfección!
Hey y'all, here's the full version of this version : ruclips.net/video/t3FjiEVaBbs/видео.html
norwegian is a beautiful language
I learned for period of time , it's nice for ladies more xD the end of sentences ends with eehh , u feel like having sex and u fked xD
His voice is coming from Valhalla's bottoms
Canta muito

Voz dos Deuses... Odin!
Absolutely awesome
Love his voice!
Tears of joy!
Simply amazing.
Magnífico!! 👏👏👏👏 Vortex, the best Voice from dimmu borgir. No mustis, no Vortex, no dimmu borgir👍🤘♥️🤘
Dimmu fucked up big time losing him !
I like how he can go straight from playing the concert to a hocky goalie
Eres grande, Vortex!!!
Is perfect :,D
I don't know a word of Norwegian but to me, it sounds weirdly patriotic.
A Beast called Simen. Hail Vortex!
I fucking miss him soooooo much....the gnarliest bassist hands down.....his presence was insane.....he's almost 7 ft tall...plays by fingers alone and can si g better then any pop star/metal singer ....there was no match...no equal
a piece of heaven
i could say!!!
cheers from Alexandria, Egypt
I believe the intention was being a piece of Hell but yea, you're on the right track
Voice from valhalla!
Amazing voice, beautiful melody :D
How did you get his vocals so clear and the rest of the music quiet?
Eski günleri özlüyorum
where did you get this ? big missery.
Perfection!
Holy shit....
Goosebumps all over my body !!!
Some music can do that & it's addicting lol.
The male equivalent of Anneke van Giersbergen.
Tradução do que ele canta ???
Grande Vortex y Grande Shagrath
My favorite dimmu song, so sad vortex and mustis are gone. Dimmu won't ever overcome that.
A voz desse cara é surreal!
I love this. Wish he was still in the band :((
The Best Part of the whole Album, and also my favorite Song of Deathcult Armageddon! Insane Phrasing by the Way 🤘
I need the full song please!
This what Conan the Barbarian sounds like.
how I imagine Balder would sound ...
Amazing :D Could you make something else, please ? :D
The real manjar kolun
Thats how i imagine the voice of God
This is my favorite song on that album. His voice & the music itself at this part & right before it, it's simply everything that you want to hear in metal all in one short moment. Absolutely awesome sound here.
❤️
wow...
Perfect but it needs Shaggy monster,s voice too ;)
I remember being a fan of him when I first listened to dimmu lol vortex is awesome!
Where do you find this song?
Voice of god
from other world.

He has an angelic voice.

But Vortex sings it beautifully, no doubt about that :)
I have german girlfriend , she learned the Norwegian language and she could use the accent perfectly , R is not problem if u weren't Bavarian xD
0 Dislike :)
Everyone if you're as obsessed with vortex as I am, listen to "Up North" by borknagar.
Huh, I never realized his voice was so high on this track
Whitney Houston has nothing on ICS Vortex.
Wanted to like the vid but was too late to realise I was about to break the 666 likes. Sorry.
Get me every time its shared to me . Fuck am I grateful to have seen them in their prime.
If Simen got onto American Idol they'd have to cancel the show right there.
Entonces lo aprovecha aún mas xD aunque sabía de Borknagar no recordaba a Lamented Souls.
I dont know what hes saying but makes me feel like im in Norway in the snowy woods at night ...with the stars mapped out across the sky …… man I bet Norway is a beautiful country !!!
He’s actually conveying a sense of dark events that lead to a dramatic and tragic loss for Christianity
He's voice is so relaxing. I feel like a sheep following the singing of the shepherd.
Show Brasil curti
Impresionante su voz lo transporta a uno
Wonderful!
Rrrrrrrr
Fucking amazing.
