    I’m drawn to watching short videos when learning how to cook something. They’re always to the point without a lot of filler content.

    I have a little cast iron pan that I ordered online and was much smaller than it looked in the picture! I finally have something I can cook in it!

      Just with your hands or using a cloth, either way works.

    Is that 10-12mins on one side? Or the whole rosti cooking time?

      grateful heart Hi there & thanks for the question. Generally 10-12 minutes should cook the rosti, that includes turn it as required. Please note that it may take longer depending on strength of heat source. Hope this helps. Enjoy and keep watching for more videos soon. If you have any requests, please let me know.

      He didn’t. Some people do. It seems to depend on how tall the finished rosti is to be. If you’re only going for 1-1.5cm thick the potato will cook through in the pan so no need to par boil first. If you want to have tall ones, you need to par boil or the outside will burn before the inside is tender. Only par boil though. Don’t cook through or it’ll be mush.

    Do i need to add cheese?

    • @johncroweChef
      @johncroweChef  4 года назад

      Hi there, thanks for the question. Cheese is not part of the tradition recipe, saying that you could add some grated cheddar cheese for instance. The only issue would be the cheese could burn on the outside of the Rosti through the cooking process, in order to ensure the Rosti is cooked through. If you are careful and control your heat throughout, I’m sure it’s achievable. Have you thought about some diced smoked bacon or ham? It’s fantastic. Enjoy!
