I've been observing and learning things for years, it seems. I always come back to two or three guitar guys. Marty and Justin Sandercoe get a lot of my views. Congrats Marty on eclipsing Justin on the subscribers number. anyone with 733THOUSAND subs must be doing something right! ROCK ON!
My mom loved this song. She is the reason I started playing again so I'm definitely learning this one. Do you think you could do a Rory Gallagher million miles away video?
Hi Marty , I am a 75 year old retired farmer from Iowa .I started playing 1 year ago and I have had so much fun. You have helped me so much as I have never had a lesson except from YOU TUBE and you are my favorite. Thank you David
My best friend died in '98 and left me his Strat. I've picked it up occasionally, but never seriously. Over the last few weeks I've spent a couple hours a day with Marty Music as my personal instructor. What a difference! Marty makes it fun, informative, and I'm actually playing some songs my wife can recognize.
I have been playing for exactly 1 year now. Got my guitar for my birthday last April. And because of Marty and his awesome lessons and videos, practicing is so much fun. Just wanted to say thank you.
?!? How could 10 people give this a thumbs down? I'm a Peter Green fan myself but know a good song when I hear it. It's a classic, and a great version for surprising the mates with and belting it out at the old campfire. And very pleasantly taught. Thanks Marty.
thanks Marty, i'm 69 yrs old bean paying for 1 year, slow changing chords, been practising the f bar chord for months up and down the neck finally i can put a song to it,thanks again, Gary wales uk,
I can’t believe Marty still killing it! I remember back then when i was a noob he helped me become the guitar player i am today! Thank you Marty! It’s been a while! Good to see you!
Love your lessons. This song is very iconic in that Otis Reading recorded this song and died in a plane accident four days after. It was the first song ever that had a post humorous number one. Janis Joplin was next in a piece of my heart
I played this song on bass many, many times in Los Angeles clubs for good money. I was given a Nashville type stick chart and I later added Duck Dunn’s bass hooks. How nice I can learn the 6 string acoustic version on guitar. (with Marty’s teaching techniques) When Otis recorded the first 2 verses, he meant to come back to record verse 3 so he whistled just for a filler or guide track. Otis was killed & never made it back to finish the song. The Stax crew took what they had, added some waves sfx and released it. It became a song classic with lots of Radio play when it first came out. Thx, Marty.
Hey Marty 63 years old and getting back into playing guitar, you are the best teacher yet !man you make it easy to learn alot of my favorite jams.would like to see a 50s music post on your site for some of the older players out there .Deon ,Franky Valley a few girl bands smokey robinson ect.Well thanks agian and keep on rocking.Ps love the hats Carlos Santana has his own brand of hats with some of the price going to young people for music .Awesome hats to at fair prices
Thank you Marty you are one of the best teachers if not the best keep on rockin. I remember when Otis die I was coming home from school in seventh grade it was a Tuesday and it was raining
I know this video is 5 years old, but I just found it and I'm trying barre chords for the first time. How do you get your shapes so straight!?! When I do it, as soon as I add the barre, my other fingers go to a 45 degree angle to the neck
Trying it again and again bro ! Keep believing in it and one day it will become as natural as walking ! Good luck in this beautiful journey that guitar is
Did anyone else have issues with the video at 7:12 with a pause for a split second and then the sound didn't match the video for about 10 more seconds?
Hi Marty thanks for this great lesson. For some reason this one has really helped reinforce barre chords for me. Just love the sound of the barre chords for this song, even if mine don't sound quite as good as yours...yet!
I like they way you teach the song correctly so l could sing it while l registered the chords. Very good thank you. Sitting on the dock of the bay will check the speed like you said.little faster with that joyfull wisstle
Great old song and I like the way of showing both ways for the chords.that way people can play it in any key if they can't sing in the one it was arranged in. We'll done Marty. Ps II wish you'd show more like that.
Thanks! Hey Marty, I've got another video of you teaching the same song but for some reason there's no gray hair on you 🤣🤣🤣 13 years goes back quick. Thanks for all you do. You've helped me learn a million songs and made it fun
Hey Marty... you remain my go to guy for "How to play XXXX on guitar" which in nine months since I first picked up a guitar has included Sitting on the dock of the bay, Foo fighters Everlong, Fleetwood Mac landslide, Aint no sunshine and others.So... Could you do, "Everybody's gotta learn sometime" either Korgis or Beck version. It's stayed really contemporary sounding over the decades, is really a very sweet sound, not horribly difficult with just a couple of bar chords (which I'm still fighting with but then... OK... sometimes you cheat a little... albeit I know at some point like the song says... "everybody's gotta learn sometime" ).Really appreciate it Marty.
Marty has taught me how to be a better player. I went from zero to intermediate just by doing 1 video a day. Thanks Marty for the free content ur awesome. BTW This song is awesome
Thanks for supporting MartyMusic, also tons of courses at www.MartyMusic.com
Marty Music Show us how to play Boleros!!!

Hey David. Where in Iowa are you from? I grew up on a farm near Cedar Rapids.
And here I am at 21 thinking I'm too old to get real good at playing guitar.
@@MrSuperwim I'm 47 and am mostly a drummer but am working at the guitar. You can be great by the time you're my age.
Use the Schwartz Luke

Marty should be introduced to rock and roll hall of fame some day
By those whom music careers were started just by his tutorials

This is my favorite "Dad" song ever, thank you so much King Marty, for posting this, you are the King of RUclips
I love how you sing to the hand changes. That's how I try and teach myself and it's very effective.
What strumming pattern are you using? Cant figure out what to do
I have been playing for exactly 1 year now. Got my guitar for my birthday last April. And because of Marty and his awesome lessons and videos, practicing is so much fun. Just wanted to say thank you.
the absolute BEST barre chord practice and just so happens to be one of my favorite songs. marty to the rescue again for another guitar breakthrough
That guitar has a beautifully deep sound to it!
I grew up listening to this song while sitting on the dock of the bay. Brings back the good memories.

Thank you, Thank you & Thank you Marty🎵🎸

Your are the best teacher for (online) Guitar and a cool guy. Greetings from Germany (near Berlin)🤘🖖

Omg I’ve heard this song for the first time a couple days ago and really wanted to play it. Thanks!!!
Thanks Marty. This song has helped me with barre chords more than any other, even if they do still sound crappy!
Bar chords are tough at the start - cramp, sound off, but hang in there!!!
Just started playing acoustic a few months ago and just found you👍
Marty Schwartz, I love you, you helped so much and you are a significant character in my life

I would say the Andrew sisters but they mainly used horns like trumpets
Thank you Marty you are one of the best teachers if not the best keep on rockin. I remember when Otis die I was coming home from school in seventh grade it was a Tuesday and it was raining

Did anyone else have issues with the video at 7:12 with a pause for a split second and then the sound didn't match the video for about 10 more seconds?
It just takes years of practice to master playing guitar without hands.
I guess I'll never get that good. LOL
