After researching extensively, i went with shoal creek. Planted four, and this is their third year. I was worried last year at this time April when they looked dead. It all happened in May! And boy did they go! They bloomed very quickly:) Even though I got them partially due to how hardy they are, i still baby them. I'll get more aggressive with prunung next year.
Nice Video ! I am in Metro Phx & I have the Shoal Creek & whitish-pink (pink icing ?) varieties... Btw, have conversed with & am a huge fan of author & plant expert, Linda Chalker-Scott, in your state (WSU) ....
Thanks, Jeff! FYI we are the Washington, DC, region - on the right coast - but similar planting zones and conditions to Washington state. I have met Linda too and attended a few of her talks while in the PNW, she is a terrific resource and font of knowledge.
@@GardenDCPodcast Ah ! Didn't catch the DC part...interesting that You have the climate for Vitex there...saw a newer "dwarf" variety while over at Home Depot today...don't recall the name.;..
@@GardenDCPodcast It may have been. Fyi, Was told recently by a top local nursery that Proven Winners is now apparently only supplying Big Box stores :(
Hi Jeff, I work for Proven Winners, and I can tell you that is false. I'm not sure why they would say that? We continue to supply and maintain a steady focus on supporting independent nurseries, and that isn't going to change. @@jeff6899

That is terrific news! I'm so glad they are thriving for you - mine are doing well under my benign neglect but still bloom well :-).

I just purchased a "Delta Blues" Chaste tree. I am in Central Alabama. Would it be OK to plant now in early November? It is about 3.5 ft tall.
Yes, it should be fine to plant it now.
