Verdadeiro, honesto, bonito. Musicas como down, a prayer, trackless sea e in this ocean parecem salmos do seculo 21. Sou muito abençoado por este trabalho, oro por vocês, muito obrigado

loved this one at the show in Houston! Seeing the album as a story is beautiful but in the middle of it I also felt like....but Chad, where's your victory and hope? It was an uncomfortable wait for the ending songs- Intended or not, that's what real life is like sometimes.

Man. Good question. Seems like a lot of good questions without any good answers. Your music is comforting for the one caught up in the struggle, but it seems like you don’t move beyond that. I know we don’t ever “arrive” on this side of heaven. But the Christian life is a victorious one. If it’s not, we are either not thinking of victory rightly or we have not truly tasted of the fullness of the grace of God. The assurance of faith is a great comfort to the mature Christian. We can mount up on wings as of an eagle. It’s a life of freedom and fullness of joy. What is Satan, if not a creature of God who can only glorify Him even in his opposition. If God is for us… If… Is He?

Hey have you listened to the entire album it’s a pretty cool story line if the struggle. Maybe it does some answering ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , what did you think about the rest of the songs?

@@marcelal1031 I did. I’ve been listening to them for a while as well. They are so skilled at what they do. But I’m always hoping I’ll hear the new grown-up album, but it never drops. I see them turning into the Greenday of the faith. Still singing about highschool or something like it at 50 years old. It seems like it’s just me who thinks so though. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope he acquires the peaceful fruit of righteousness, the assurance of faith, and the fullness of joy in the Lord. If these songs are autobiographical I would think he hasn’t. Yet.

@@BuckRailAirguns I think I disagree here. I have also been struggling with this song for the same reasons you have, but I've come to a different conclusion. Consider all of the Lament Psalms in the Bible. If scripture is God breathed, you have to believe that he allows Christians to write about feeling hopeless or tough in hard times, and that's what Chad is doing in a few songs on the album. To think that a mature Christian does not have assurance in their faith because they have gone through hard times and wrote a song about that moment is quite silly. Christians will suffer this side of the earth, the Bible promises that, and I think it is okay to write a song about those struggles. I would argue the only MATURE Christian was Jesus Christ. The only one who could live out God's purpose perfectly without failure.
And I think when you especially consider the song in the context of this album, you see You and I Again, Joy, etc. At the very end. I think a mature Christian could understand the meaning of this song and what it represents. I do think God is enough, but I also relate to this feeling of "why am I down on the way up?" Why have I felt depressed when I believe in Jesus?
At the end of the day, I believe in sanctification. We will struggle and doubt, but God is refining us day in day out until we die and go to heaven, and my faith will only be stronger after every fall.

@@swankypotato1249 I agree with much of what you say. I have a feeling I will eventually lose track of all the folks who disagree with me and the claims they make so forgive me if I abandon the conversation too soon. I know mine is the minority opinion. With that said, here goes...
"Consider all of the Lament Psalms in the Bible. If scripture is God breathed, you have to believe that he allows Christians to write about feeling hopeless or tough in hard times, and that's what Chad is doing in a few songs on the album."
That is a great comparison and I understand the parallels. The lament psalms are very comforting to the christian in our struggle with sin and weakness. Much of Chad's songs are similar and, no doubt, comforting. In the sort of way that it is always comforting to not suffer alone. However, from where or whom should we find our comfort ultimately. It was the words of the psalmist uttered on the cross, "My God My God, why have you forsaken me?" But the psalmist did not have the revelation of Jesus Christ. Christ was forsaken on our behalf. He does not forsake us or abandon us. We often turn our back on Him. We often forsake him. And the result is utter despair until we are restored. I hear the despair, the doubt, the fear. He communicates that so well. Where the path of the psalmist and of Chad seem to depart, in my opinion, is after the dust and ashes.
"To think that a mature Christian does not have assurance in their faith because they have gone through hard times and wrote a song about that moment is quite silly."
Yes. True. Agreed. What's in question is whether it is a moment of despair in a life of hope or a moment of hope in a life of despair. A tree planted by the water, a house built on the rock, or a rudderless ship, tossed to and fro by every wind and wave. I like the Lumineers, Bon Iver, Bahamas, they all despair really well and touch on a shaky hope here and there. At least Chad's hope is certain. But it seems like he struggles to communicate it.
"I would argue the only MATURE Christian was Jesus Christ. The only one who could live out God's purpose perfectly without failure."
I agree with the second part. I wholeheartedly disagree with the first part, unless you meant MOST mature. The new testament is replete with encouragement for the Christian to move on to maturity and God is gracious to give us many examples and witnesses for us to look to. For instance, St. Paul, imprisoned, empty belly, clothes are threadbare, even his friends have abandoned him and he is content with Christ and Christ alone. That is a very mature Christian. Something for all of us to aspire to. I know that's easier said than done. It seems humble and pious to say that only Christ was mature, but it is not biblical.
I think these folks are awesome. I would love to here some songs about the meat is all. I got all excited when the new album popped up in my feed. Listened to it all a few times and just felt bummed out. Another album about despair with some hope sprinkled on top.
I'm sure we agree on most things and I'm with you on all the other points. We struggle and we prevail in Christ. Amen.
