Right? I’m able to take my methadone anywhere with me and can ask for “Carrie’s” which is an extension on my prescription (more bottles of methadone) and I’ve never got to travel when I was in active addiction I had to make sure I was close to a dealer at all times , if I do travel I’m able to send my script to a pharmacy in whatever town or city I’m travelling to as long as I’m within the country

Exactly. Methadone has given me life back, I go once every two weeks to pick up take homes for two weeks. Methadone n Suboxone are miracle drugs, they’re not handcuffs. A lot of people hate that shot for several reasons and wouldn’t take it of u paid them.

You have to understand this isn’t really meant to be a lifelong treatment although some people do that route (whatever wouldn’t recommend) but for full blown opiate addicts this is the only viable realistic least resistance way to taper off of street dope.. some people are semi functioning and dependents and are working and can’t just sit out for a month cold Turkey..
You build your social life up and yourself personally and build connections and network and get yourself into a right spot financially and mentally then you can come off.
It’s becoming easier and easier to get takehomes in the US atleast. And it’s better than shooting up fentanyl or snorting pressed 30s everyday and being a slave to that….
Lesser of two evils here.. sometimes problems can’t just vanish and be solved in the blink of an eye.. sometimes life is ugly.

@@generaldernappe What tapering down?? That’s absolutely true, I’ve done it n have known others who’ve done it to. If u slowly taper down over 6-8 months like I did from 95 to eventually zero you won’t have any withdrawals. When I got down to 3mgs I just stopped there and outside of tossing/turning in bed for 2-3 nights dealing with insomnia I had no withdrawal symptoms and started sleeping normally again after a couple days.
There’s no comparison between tapering down under doctor supervision and trying to come off cold turkey. I wouldn’t wish the withdrawal feelings you get quitting cold turkey on my worst enemy, and that crap last months after a good 3-4 weeks of acute withdrawal symptoms then you enter a month to six week long episode of post acute symptoms where you’re extremely depressed, can’t sleep at all, no energy etc.

​@@K1forMVP How long where u on and did u go down like 1mg a week. Back in 09 I was on 65mg, I went to a dr. to make a plan to get off. He wanted me to to go down 1mg a week till I got down to 30mg and then I had to not dose for 3 days and on the 4th he was gonna start me on subtex for 12days and then nothing from then on. I didn't want to take that long to get off so I just went cold turkey at 65mg. The withdrawals was a MF for like a month but xanax w.d was alot worse!

This is so true!! I'm getting off right now. I'm on 10mg now and I only got on because I wanted to get high. I want even addicted to heroin. I was addicted to methadone! Everyone on the clinic calls it liquid handcuffs. 🙄 You cant do shit and once you're one it, you're STUCK!!

Only if your doing baby shots of shitty dope. I just got out of the hospital after 5+ years on 160mg of mdone, I was there to switch to subs, and dammmmnnnnn this is the HARDEST thing I've ever experienced. But I'm so sick of being married to a clinic. Sick of still smoking fetti every chance I got... Suboxone is less "drug like", you can't get high so it's an insurance policy against my bad choices, and people treat you much better on subs , whereas on methadone people think your just the worst of the worst.

After the first year of being on it u really start to heal as time goes by and pretty soon u realize u never even think about using at all never thinking about pain pills or (if it’s ure thing) Heroin anymore like at all or going out and buying some u have zero urge to do😅

Exactly. I get 30 days of methadone take homes. If you stay off of illicit drugs and take your recovery serious then it becomes possible to travel. Granted there are countries that have made all methadone illegal or not for use outside of a hospital, but those aren’t common.

I get “Carrie’s” to go on holiday. A steal lock box with a key is required. I can take 12 bottles at a time with me as long as I’m within Canada, or I can send my script to where ever I’m going

It can help break the behavioral cycle of using. It really depends on how far gone you are, your environment, and your desire to live. If you are going to die unless you go into treatment then...go into treatment. I don't want to use illegal drugs ever again. I also terribly fear kicking; withdrawal , p.a.w.'s, and what I am capable of when I am not in treatment. I hate being a prisoner to any medication, but I also am scared of what I become when I am (briefly)sober.
What sucks is that there's rapid detoxes that cost 20,000$(USD) for sedatives, observation, IV naltrexone, and 3 days, but that's only available out of pocket. So, there is a way to help the masses of people dying, but the government/insurance companies/ and short lives of the suffering people (that definitely don't have 20,000 to throw into wizeman rapid detox's) won't ever see sobriety, or real addiction medicine reform that works to heal the brain. it's all Because these government funded detox programs, insurance companies, and doctors managing people to come back over and over again lining their pockets off the backs of the mentally ill, addicts. it is so extremely profitable to everyone except the
addict that it hasn't seen reform in 50-100 years. May the blood of the innocent be on the hands of the dirty politicians, insurance companies, and doctors that push the same treatments that don't work, and insurance companies that sell drugs that are more addictive then heroin for $$ feeding into this cycle made by our, "government system." They are the real criminals.
