I actually played a Death Note game called "Death Note: Online", made by fans in the early 2000s, along with similar werewolf games such as Mitadake and Misuterri High and it's what sparked my addition to mystery games, books, & anime.. This seems identical to those little games. Exciting.

DN's shounen appeal such as Light's edginess, helped it break into mainstream, which is a lovely thing, but has nothing to do with who created anything.
I think that what the sudden death perk does when Kira's team levels up. Also seems like you can kill everyone within one round like among us, you just don't have to write the whole round, let team L win that round, and just keep on obeying L to look less suspicious. Just like in the anime keep on low profile and steal everyone's names then kill them after knowing who's part of the whole investigation.

The anime skipped over this completely, but in the manga Light asks Ryuk if the rule about the deathnote users being unable to go to neither heaven or hell means that they both don't exist. Ryuk says that he assumed that all humans believed that they exist, after that he confirms neither are real.

@LordTyph There is no reason to assume Ryuk is an untrustworthy narrator in this instance. The creator has previously commented on wanting death to be permanent within the death note universe. Once someone dies, that's it. They can't come back to life and they can't be contacted again after that. And there is not a more permanent way to write a character out of the story than to confirm that they simply cease to exist after death. Besides that, there are interviews where the creator further elaborates on what ceasing to exist means.

I really like this idea! I gladly take this over just another point and click adventure or visual novel type game. It is not easy to adapt death note into a video game, especially since everyone already knows the story, and I think this is probably one of the best things you could've done!
I watched death note for the first time about 3 months ago and was sad that the franchise was kind of abandoned. So to have this come out and be on on ps plus for free made me super happy. I've been having tons of fun with it.

While I'm sure the imagery of Light and L playing on a game board is more symbolic than anything, I could definitely see the two of them during Light's early "cooperation" with the investigation team playing this kind of "what would I do if I were Kira?" game.
We usually have 8-12 friends playing Among us through many platforms. Hopefully I can get most of them to try this out. If it’s not f2p it might be harder to convince them.
