    Mr.G the branding irons look great,i think if you work on leveling the surface of the irons the outer circle will show up all the way around ,the same with the letter just check the height across all of them with a straight edge but i'm sure you don't need my input on that,all the best my friend,thanks for sharing

      Just checked the translation, my first inclination was to say "Great work" but I second guessed myself and put awesome, should've gone with my gut!

    The wide one with the letters can be fixed if you just file the front a bit to level it and then weight the sides.

    Is there not any concern with warping due to heat on the first pattern with how thin you trimmed..i know brass is a pretty soft metal atleast red brass is not real certain on the yellow..love the video and the channel by the way!!

    Que facil! con materiales y herramientas que todos tenemos en casa..jajaja facil facil

  • @TheMatBas
    @TheMatBas 6 лет назад

    I think that if you wouldn´t cut material from bigger one than it would stay hot for longer and you would be able to brand multiple objects. Or did you cut it because you wanted it to heat up faster?

    • @BlackBeardProjects
      @BlackBeardProjects  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah it was taking too long to heat up. It was way too much material to heat for a branding iron I think :)

  • @heyimamaker
    @heyimamaker 6 лет назад

    I think both came out really good. Presumably, you are branding something because you are selling it. So starting off affordable selling some goods and waiting to afford the nicer more expensive tool/brand makes a lot of sense.

    What is that sand you use? I've made green sand before but never any as good as what you've got. Did you buy that or make it yourself?

    • @BlackBeardProjects
      @BlackBeardProjects  6 лет назад +2

      It's a specific oil bonded sand made for metal casting. Sometime called petrobon sand.

    Ok why dose the cast have a lid? Why not open pour the brass

    • @Crustyswede1
      @Crustyswede1 4 года назад

      I was wonder that too but maybe because the brass may warp if the one open surface cools faster than the one in the sand mould.

    Another great video. What is the red powder you use for molding? Is it some sort of really fine clay or something else?
    *EDIT: Is it casting sand that you're using? I just googled "sand for casting metal" and found a bunch of resources that look similar.

    • @Shrimp_Insurance
      @Shrimp_Insurance 2 года назад

      Yes it's called green sand, basically fine sand with oils in it

    • @rogerforrester9845
      @rogerforrester9845 2 года назад

      For the course lettering, green sand will do (REALLY fine sand and water), for fine detail, an oil based sand is better e.g. Petrobond, which is REALLY fine sand and oil.

  • @FranksDIY
