donald Clifft Most of the actors back then had some formal training in theater or films. Television was still a new medium, so there really were a lot of very talented actors, many from the studio systems where they trained in dancing and singing also. Buddy Ebsen used to star with Shirley Temple tap dancing and singing duets with her in a few of her childhood movies. So yes Donald, you're absolutely correct, they are great actors. And special applause for Granny who never once dropped character in any episode and was at least 20 years. or more younger in real life.

I never realized that Jed and Miss Jane didn't get along
There were political differences. He was a Republican and she was a Democrat. Nacy Kulp ran for Congress and Buddy endorsed her opponent.
