Yes Perry Mason. May he RIP. Yes i remember those commercials but did not know he had died before they aired. REAL sad. You see Cancer did a real number on his body as he sure looked alot older than 53.
I watch Bill Talman on Perry Mason in the mornings.📺Great tribute 🌹😇🎞🎥 Wow only” 53” years old . That’s sad 😞. I do remember those Yule Brenner anti smoking TV commercials. And by the way , you always make me chuckle viewing your videos 👍😆💕.
Hello Larry, I live in country Australia and yes, we watch an episode of the original Perry Mason every evening. I love this era, and all the actors. I believe Raymond Burr was a lovely man who made sure other actors who were older and not getting work, got small parts in this series. George Stone being one of them.
Thanks Steve for this video. William Talman was one helluva prosecutor throughout his time on Perry Mason! We all have our appointed time in this world.
I heard that Raymond Burr came into audition for the part of Hamilton Burger. After his audition, Burr was asked to stay and help audition other actors who were up for the part of Paul Drake, Burr, of course, was playing Perry Mason to the actors auditioning for the part of Paul Drake. Erle Stanley Gardner saw the auditions in which Burr played Perry Mason. He told the producers "That's your Perry Mason!" And the rest was history
The only TV show my Grandmother loved and wanted to watch was Perry Mason. When I visited for most of my summers with her we watched her show. It wasn't my favorite show but anything to be with her was the "best of times" and I grew to enjoy the show and all the characters.
Thanks for a great video & info that I didn't know about. I'm a 6 time cancer survivor/3 time lung cancer survivor and with lots of parts missing, but I'm still here thanks to Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I did smoke but stopped in 1976. I am so glad that smoking isn't allowed in public places anymore. The (clean) air you breath is very precious.
I remember I was a little boy when they advertised he was dying. While Growing up I seen a lot of him because my mom had the reruns of Perry Mason on every day.
He'll always be Hamilton Burger. I do remember seeing Yul Brynner on his anti-smoking ad. I was a heavy smoker myself back then. It took a long time, but I finally wised up.
I loved William Talman on Perry Mason. I heard he made the anti smoking 🚬 commercial. I didn't know he had been fired and rehired, etc. Great info Steve. 👍
I remember very well the anti-smoking spot William Talman did for the American Cancer Society. Sadly, it was too late for him. Ironically, on that same Perry Mason series, William Hopper (son of gossip columnist Hedda Hopper), was also a very heavy cigarette smoker and this is evident in numerous episodes l as Paul Drake where he smokes on camera. He suffered a stroke and died less than a month later of pneumonia at age 55 on March 6, 1970.
William Talman gave a great performance in the 1955 movie, " Crashout". He played the pyscho preacher " Swanee", and he scared me with his intense " method" acting. He really looked crazy!
Smokey the Bear called, he wants his hat back!😀 I remember his anti smoking ads and believe that they contributed to my fear of smoking, to which I am thankful!
This was a nicely done episode. William Talman was wonderful as Prosecutor Hamilton Burger. Overall, Perry Mason was a great show with great talented actors/actresses. What were the Perry Mason episodes where Hamilton Burger won? I also remember the anti-smoking campaign that Yul Brynner did. Brynner died on October 10, 1985, five days before my grandpa died from lung cancer on October 15th.
Wasn't one of those episodes the one with Julie Adams who was on death row and very bitter toward Perry Mason? But of course he got the case reopened and she was exonerated.
From a private to a major, that's pretty remarkable. I am a lifelong smoker, I started at 12, and I'm 69 now. Let me say this. SMOKING SUCKS! Don't start! Quit now if you do!! Don't let the tobacco companies get richer by slowly killing you.
Nice tribute! I remember him from The Invaders. Awful disease. Awful addiction. Sad that his wife resumed smoking after (apparently) quitting for a long time.
I grew up watching Perry Mason and Alfred Hitchcock as a kid. Widly inappropriate for a child. I remember and miss those days so much now that she's gone. Today, I'm a suspense junkie, love true crime (what woman doesn't?? Why? Never know). And William Hopper (Hedda Hopper's son) who played Paul Drake (so easy on the eyes) and the actress who played the secretary were stellar.
First off Steve...I'm dying at your "Opening"! The Hat was a stunner but the "Bad Hair Day" instantly turned my Moan-Day right back into a doable Monday! Appreciate the chuckles as always😂! I do remember as a youngster growing up and watching "Perry Mason" as that show was a staple in our family TV was one of a few shows that we ALL watched together. Ed Sullivan, Red Skelton and a few others as well! I remember thinking how Mr. Burger must have hated to see Perry Mason across the aisle from him knowing he was going to probably lose somehow! I do recall a few episodes where Mr. Burger actually defends and complimented Mr. Mason verbally. I always enjoyed that! Very sad and tragic about his death. MOO From COW-lumbus, Ohio 👋
As a member of the bald before 20 club, I cry foul on your bad hair day. “I cried because I had no shoes until I saw the man who had no feet.” I always rooted for Burger to win (do you suppose Perry called him Ham Burger?) but he had no chance with Perry having Paul and Della. Maybe if he’d had a sharper cop than Tragg?
How in the world could he have been charged with vagrancy, lewd or otherwise, when he was a guest in someone’s apartment? Anyway, he was a solid actor and had a great physical presence. How sad that his widow resumed smoking after having quit and ended up succumbing to lung cancer.
I remember both of those commercials like it was yesterday. And I remember all of the many relatives and friends that died young because of those damn cigarettes.
He was a good actor.Too bad he never got to be in Ironside, Raymond Burr's next series.Ir would have been great to see them work together again. After he died, the American Cancer Society ran PSA's he did against smoking
It took a lot of courage to make that commercial when he knew was dying. RIP William Talman.
Yes Perry Mason. May he RIP. Yes i remember those commercials but did not know he had died before they aired. REAL sad. You see Cancer did a real number on his body as he sure looked alot older than 53.

I watch the old Perry mason show everyday, I love this guy thank you

You know, I'm so grateful for you remember this actor! It's refreshing to recall the past, it's so good to remember.
This is a nice tribute. Thanks for remembering his life and career. ❤️🙏
Thank you very much Tony!
May Bill Talman ,R.I.P ! 😢🥀🙏🕊
Thanks Steve for this video. William Talman was one helluva prosecutor throughout his time on Perry Mason! We all have our appointed time in this world.
What!!! He lost all the cases 😀😀😀😀
@@douglasb5046 Well, it was because Lt. Arthur Tragg kept pinching the wrong people as suspects. 🤣🤣🤣

By Crom that is correct, there is a video somewhere on YT that shows the role rehearsals.
The only TV show my Grandmother loved and wanted to watch was Perry Mason. When I visited for most of my summers with her we watched her show. It wasn't my favorite show but anything to be with her was the "best of times" and I grew to enjoy the show and all the characters.
LOVED this guy and love Perry Mason watch it everyday!
Been a Perry Mason fan for years, and liked his performance in The Hitchhiker. Thanks again Steve.
Remember the commercial on t.v. he made when he was dying of cancer always cried my eyes out!
Another great show, Steve. Thank you!

Greetings from South Carolina 🎉hay I remember him ....I'm old
I remember I was a little boy when they advertised he was dying. While Growing up I seen a lot of him because my mom had the reruns of Perry Mason on every day.
Thank you.
Hello again from Eugene Oregon! i remember his TV messages (and all the shows he was in)
He'll always be Hamilton Burger. I do remember seeing Yul Brynner on his anti-smoking ad. I was a heavy smoker myself back then. It took a long time, but I finally wised up.
I remember seeing his anti smoking ad in the 7th grade. He was quite obviously dying and in pain when making the videos.
I loved William Talman on Perry Mason. I heard he made the anti smoking 🚬 commercial. I didn't know he had been fired and rehired, etc. Great info Steve. 👍
Another good one Steve. 👍
Thanks 👍

God bless Bill Talman. I hope he can see how many lives he saved with his selfless act.

Hitchhiker, a great movie - and you have to love the Perry Mason character name, HAMilton Burger! I have seen every PM episode at least 2 times
I watch Perry Mason every night!
Very sad...looked much
older than 53.😔
Always loved his character in Perry Mason, hell of an actor and a patriot
Poor man, he not only lost the battles, but lost the war. Respect his courage in defeat by filming the PSAs and perhaps saving someone else’s life.
Wow Bill was a good looking man
Reminds me of my dad
My dad was a sapper in the 🇨🇦army served in North West Europe 44-47❤
He was awesome!
LOVE your channel ❤
From a private to a major, that's pretty remarkable.

Quit now if you do!! Don't let the tobacco companies get richer by slowly killing you.
Going on 11 years cigarette free after smoking for 34 years. Best thing I ever did was quit.
I thought it was too late to stop the effects by then
I've been smoking since 1972, and I was 16. I also grew up in San Francisco in the 70s it's the only vice I have left. I'm 68.😊
I heard that commercial not long ago. I smoked for 40 years and I'm still healthy thanks to God!! Your hair is ok😉
Nice tribute! I remember him from The Invaders.
Awful disease. Awful addiction. Sad that his wife resumed smoking after (apparently) quitting for a long time.

Yes, I remember all of that. As for Gail Patrick "Jackson', she was the mean sister in the original "My Man, Godfrey" back in the early 1930s.
LOVE that hat Steve!!!!!
Hey, thanks for that.

Sad...I LOVED Burger on Perry Mason. I always hoped he would win more cases against Perry..but he didn't live long enough to do so..RIP.
All my old buds from the past that smoked are dead too.
I'd like to see your take on William Hopper, aka Paul Drake.
Perry Mason theme song used to scare me as a child. I remember his anti smoking PSA.
After he left Perry Mason, Talman appeared on an episode of the Wild, Wild West. In fact, the strangest episode of the show.
He also did an episode of "the Invaders" not long before he died. He played a phony colonel who turned out to be an alien.
I remember both of those commercials like it was yesterday. And I remember all of the many relatives and friends that died young because of those damn cigarettes.
Wm Hopper aka Paul Drake was also a heavy smoker. He died from a hart attack in the early 70s most likely from smoking.
Mr. Talman was such a good actor, the hitchhiker gave me the creeps.
I didn't know that Burger won three cases against Perry Mason.⚖️
MR . HAMILTON BURGER⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ahh, he knew and worked with old Ironside!
In the Tom T. Hall song about Old Dogs, children and watermelon wine, Tom calls him Ironsides incorrectly. That always bothered me.
Keep the hat, Dude!!
Loved Yul
He was a good actor.Too bad he never got to be in Ironside, Raymond Burr's next series.Ir would have been great to see them work together again. After he died, the American Cancer Society ran PSA's he did against smoking
He sure would have put a lot of innocent people in jail if it wasn't for Perry Mason 😅
Cigarettes killed him like so many others on Perry Mason.
Cool hat though!
Thanks!
At least you have hair!😃
RIP
🙏🙏
Another great actor lost to smoking.
Inherited Alzheimer’s destroyed my grandma and my mom. If smoking takes me out before it hits in ~14 years I’m ok with that.
❤️🇵🇱🤗
I think God I never got started on tobacco products. Nicotine is the most addictive drug that there is bar none.
It's not that sad.
