I think it’s important to remember that this game is a long play game where you don’t build a unit/card on day 1 instead it takes a week or two or longer not just getting it to 120 but also resonance.
People not leveling baby Mont is a mistake I often see. The advice on prioritizing VC is really good advice. This is a really good video for new players.
Problem is he consumes some of the most used mats to Ex him such as the sword spinel and the sword branded tablet. On my alt account I kept putting him off cause I wanted to get other units leveled to 115. For new players if pve is your focus then I think it’s better to have a bunch of 115 units that can easy clear brutal diff content than a small pool of 120 units. What I found more useful in my new account was to focus on building units around primary job damage type and maximize the Espers and VCs to suit those types … so magic plus one physical damage type such as slash.
The very FIRST thing I maxed in this game is the scions of shadows VC (yes I maxed a VC that I don't gain benefit from first before a unit). This is because back when I was new, Sakura's banner was coming up close and everyone was hyping the light meta with Yuna. So I stayed patient, maximized what I had (Prince Mont and LB3 thancred shout out to you guys for carrying my account back then), and when Sakura was released, I focused solely only her and when Yuna was released, I pretty much got an amazing strong account and with vis to spare I got to max Bahamut, Tidus and Auron immediately as well. This was on a span of 3 months while being F2P.

In my early days, I was that player with half-baked VCs but fully maxed units. I needed someone to review my account and they immediately told me that I should max my VCs. So that's what I did. Back then we get hooked up with a lot of select VC shard tickets and those helped a lot. I could only work one VC at a time though, and the maxed VCs really boasted my account.
There's my report take a cup of coffe. I have a lot of incomplete things, and a few months ago I started to focus more on them, I stopped trying to pick characters I started to focus on Vision Cards, I took advantage of events like Creysse's rerun and took her from Lv 89 straight to 120. In short I started to focus on more on finishing what I already have, certain things like limited characters will have to wait for a possible rerun in the future, but now I usually focus more on getting cards and then I think about the characters, an example of that was Lara Croft, I I didn't want her because I didn't have a use for her, but her letter was very useful for my Creysse that I could use in Select Quest missions. Now it's chasing what I left behind, I'm going to leave my Haloween LittleLeela from 99 to level 120 and get the Vision Card Exorcist that is sorely missed in PvE events. I went from 3 UR level 99 cards to 10 cards besides others that are close to finishing.
Okay so I just went through the re-rolling process for an alt account. Bcus of this, I no longer feel FOMO anymore, as I have some good characters that I have but have been there the longest, and I realise I have their VCs to go with them( which agn I did not build). From wanting to pull Noctis & his VCs, Jume, Setia, all 100 cost units I ended up just wanting to pull for Noctis VC only, and just take advanatge of the guild and fren tokens to build units.After I clear my barracks, then I'll potentially pull for new units, otherwise I will be pulling VCs only, and maxing them out.
In limited collabs (assuming there are 3 units) i pull all of them and then only max out 1 or 2 then put all in barracks to farm their shards. I don't max out all so that i can save up on vis to pull a VC for example (VCs are much easier to max out now). 3rd unit is built slowly. 6 shards a day from barracks does that. This way i maxed out Auron and Aerith so far.
If you're f2p, plan on building on just 2 elements so you don't feel obligated to pull on every unit that comes. You won't be able to compete if you just keep on getting half baked meta units with no synergy at all.
I always "buy" Fenrir Vision Card shard & Titan Vision Card shard daily using my guild medals eventough i already maxxed those cards many month ago. My purpose is to stack my UR Vision Medals to exchange it with UR guaranteed vision card ticket or to buy Vision card shard that i want....sometimes i also buy maxxed unit shards with my friend medals or guild medals just to stack Soul medals..
You can just skip ticket a team with different espers I have like 3000 reg skip tickets and use them to farm story quests for mats easy resonance farm 200 runs
Once you get a solid 5 member UR EX team, develop 120 Phoebe, 120 Mont, and 115 Zazan (and maybe a couple other really good MR units like Nasha). Its important to strive not to spend much visiore though. The reason for this is limited cost class match. You can do the same for vision cards (MR and SR), and you can build resonance with lower cost espers, but this is mostly for your cost 100 and cost 90 units in class match, so they'll have some decent espers to work with if they cant equip bahamut, odin, shiva, omega because of the cost restrictions. Anyway, you might think its a waste, rather than chasing the flavor of the week cost 80 UR unit, but the meta changes so much, that you'd probably get more long term value doing some research and then investing in a few of these lower cost units/vc's for class match (which rewards a lot of visiore) than you would get for chasing the latest meta unit. Unless it is a cost 100 unit, then by all means, chase it.
1. Not all units are worth leveling past 107 or 115. Do not advise people always level to max. Given unless mats, sure, level everything, but its VERY often the case that you'd get more performance out of two 115s than a single 120 because not all Units 116-120s are worth the gil, 200 shards, and 3 blossoms. Weigh what your getting =D 2. You're underestimating the synergy of the Barracks on limited units. On both the Summer and Winter banners, I know people that had a couple units and found it cheaper to pull the other two than to buy the EX400 shards for each of the two they already had. They now have 4 limited units in the barracks, thats 240 EX shards a month, a 12k free vis value. (though im not sure I agree on getting them all to 99 first, but just remember how fast shards come when you stack same kind limited on Winter, Summer, FFT, FF10, Halloween, etc). 3. 1. This is true in some cases. But I would argue MOST units need 115 to see most of their usage. This is why I suggest "at least 115" because you can save 10k vis and slow farm 115-120. I have a 1 year old account with 286k visiore spent(f2p) and i have no 120 units....I feel like it's a broken account, i made another one in september and it went well but i wasted all my f2p visiore on step up banners, all my beginner tickets on mediena, xiza and oldoa, just because i wanted power up for nightmare creysse....now i'm making another one but keeping up 3 accounts is kinda time consuming.
An account is never "broken"! You can always save up for new units and 120 them. Also use vision stars and/or soul medals, as well as the 50 UR shards 10x summon and 5 guaranteed UR's banners to build up shards for regular banner units. Engelbert, Mediena, Kitone, Rain, Laswell...a lot of these year 1 units are great at 120! I might ditch that second account, and keep your "third" but reroll specifically to get the banner unit (Halloween Fred?) to 120. HFred, Kitone (free 99) and MR Mont would be a GREAT team right out of the gate.
@@NerdNight Yeah i agree, i've ditched both accounts and kept the old one, i don't see the point of having a younger alt account when my main account has so many limit breaks, items, and stuff. If you put the joy of having 30k visiore in less than a week aside there's nothing else worth having an alt account. I think i'll just work on some real dps, so far i have many tanks and bruisers but very little in the way of damage dealers. I'll save visiore and that's about it.
Another easy one: Brave/faith building. Any unit you plan to use should have 97 brave and either 50, 30, or 97 faith, respectively. Wishy washy brave/faith values are bad.
Question, which is my main problem atm: how do I obtain more event skip tickets?(the gold ones that are needed for basically EVERYTHING you need to farm to make your account better) My problem comes from getting bored farming this things. I like doing selection quests, and ex quests, and even multi quests, because theyre difficult or I can do them with others and have fun. But when I need to farm 75 tablets which drop randomly from one chapter, or 75 red crysts that I need, Im at a loss on wanting to keep doing it. I sometimes will get this tickets from gifts or events given by the game, but I havent found a way to farm them or get more of them like the story skip ticckets. How do I get more?
The farming grind is REAL in this game. Event skip tickets have to be bought (usually with Paid visiore, unfortunately). It's that, or if you have a spare laptop/PC, you can download an emulator like Bluestacks and let it grind during the day.
The problem now with VC is that their shards are rare after their first 1 to 2 week of release. Say if I just got an Odin card now, which is a great card, how am I going to max it? One shard per day for 275 days?
Basically...this is why I LOVE the vision card shard banners (250 UR shards) and also pulling on the gil banners for vision cards (you'll grab a random 3x here and there for some UR cards)
I'm basically the worst at this game. The lack of coherent community information is a huge negative for the game. As you that gen chat in the game is toxic toward questions and it is not at all new player friendly.

@@NerdNight example: today in video you said shadowlynx can solo all tiers of dark enlistment quest, just set her up for evasion. Why do you assume everyone has a maxed shadowlynx? There is enough readily available shards (bingo board) to get her to 50ish, you need 600 to get her to 99 which can take a considerable amount of time. What is an evasion build for her? It takes forever to get JP to unlock things, what is a good path as you progress? You and most of the other creators just assume everyone can snap their fingers and have a maxed (level, abilities, gear, vc, etc.) Character. Where do I get the remaining 400-500 shards for shadowlynx? Barracks gives 3 shards a day (for MR units) if you have provisions to fill it and have 100% uptime (you get 3 5k provisions a day as far as I can tell). So looking at 5+ months there. You get some from chocobo expeditions and summons also, but random. So looking at a realistic half year to max that 1 unit.
@@nevyns9285 Oh no no no...I do NOT expect that everyone has Shadowlynx maxed out. I don't even have her maxed (I only have her at 99). It was more of a quick note that if you DO have her, she can complete it. At level 99, she can get to floor 9 probably. Just a note on the Selection Quests, in my opinion these are end-game/spender content. Personally I have only completed the Light selection quest through Floor 10, and I have been playing since launch!
I really wish they'd just throw the resonance system away and let us use espers at will... farming chocobo exped. is bad enough. Also, the stat nodes that you can upgrade should be better highlighted it's easy to miss...

I played over 45 days , spent $60 and 150000 visiors and used all my beginners boost resources. All that and I couldn't max even one unit. And I really regret choosing Gilgamesh and summon 600 shards for him :'( he is useless . There are much better units than him :(

Just because you have UR VC's, don't ignore the "lower" VC's. For example, I still use Leonis Castle with relative frequency.
Especially in Class Match when Vision Card cost is limited, Leonis Castle and Chocobo are two of my favorites! Thanks for the comment!
I usually use Leonis Castle for my Warrior of Light. Then I also give him Magicite Mask for added attack resistances...

Barracks gives 3 shards a day (for MR units) if you have provisions to fill it and have 100% uptime (you get 3 5k provisions a day as far as I can tell). So looking at 5+ months there. You get some from chocobo expeditions and summons also, but random. So looking at a realistic half year to max that 1 unit.
@@nevyns9285 Oh no no no...I do NOT expect that everyone has Shadowlynx maxed out. I don't even have her maxed (I only have her at 99). It was more of a quick note that if you DO have her, she can complete it. At level 99, she can get to floor 9 probably.
Just a note on the Selection Quests, in my opinion these are end-game/spender content. Personally I have only completed the Light selection quest through Floor 10, and I have been playing since launch!
For me I would go in to pve to get material for enhance job and make 1 ur character level up to 120 because pvp is late game and not early game
I really wish they'd just throw the resonance system away and let us use espers at will... farming chocobo exped. is bad enough. Also, the stat nodes that you can upgrade should be better highlighted it's easy to miss...

50k for 1000 shards, minus bingo boards, minus how you choose to spend stars etc. It depends on your account

It's roughly 40-60k to PULL and MAX a unit. If you are lucky on pulls, you can max MUCH cheaper, but that's a dangerous game ;)

I played over 45 days , spent $60 and 150000 visiors and used all my beginners boost resources.
All that and I couldn't max even one unit.
And I really regret choosing Gilgamesh and summon 600 shards for him :'( he is useless . There are much better units than him :(
