Thats it bro! You got probably one of the best short shifters on the market for the FG2, but make sure you check on the bolts on the shifter when you tighten on the OEM one. It tends to get lose and have play on your shiftstick when you shift alot. I bet you now the car feels much smoother with it on and less of a 2-3rd gear grind and 3rd gear popping out. Just like mine did. Hahaha!
Aside from hybrid... It does bro, feels wicked good! I'll keep an eye out for loose screws
Yea gerb make sure you keep and eye on those little screws on the short shifter, they tend to get lose after a while. I had the torque solution one on my si and well ended up loosing a screw and having to take it off.

The blue cap on mine shattered, Honda doesn’t sell them separately.. luckily I found a shifter out of a wrecked civic at a local junk yard.

hey brother i tried installing thses with my acuity base shifter bushing and it wouldnt give me clearance to shift into 2nd and 4th and 6th or reverse

Did you have to cut anything? I was looking up Short Shifter adapters and saw that something needs to be trimmed on certain SSA. Don't want to cut anything if possible. Just wanted to know before I buy thank you
Nah man, just had to install, direct fit. I don’t like to cut stuff either. Believe it or not, I’ll probs upgrade to a legit short shifter eventually 👌🏼
I'm not sure if this would be of any help with my '90 Sport. My shifter feels a bit loose and a friend suggested I get an entirely new short shifter, since he thinks it's the bushings that are worn.
So would this help in any aspect or making shifting more smooth?
I'm running on just hondata and a tuned no bolt ons and its crazy how much difference it makes. Next step is Hybrid racing shifter.

Hi Gerb -love your videos 😊 - I own a 2008 Civic Si- trying to install this part skunk2 SS . Only question is the Allan screws do they have to tighten all the way in- I can only get them to go like 2 turns then their stuck, which it doesn't come out the other side at all so I don't think it will hold. Seems like they going at a weird angle but I can't seem to get it right. Feel like I've tried so many times I'm stripping the head of one a bit? Any tips to get make it easier?I have no clue why it crossed out my line of I own a 2008 SI either- when I edit it, it doesn't show, oh well seems fitting for the day I've had lol
Believe it or not, i took this part out because of the allen key screws kept getting loose.

I really liked it, but my only concern was that the little screws kept backing out. If you’re going to use it, use some blue loctite. For the $, it was pretty sweet
I’m not a car guy and I won’t clam to be so forgive me if this is a stupid question but I need to be 100% sure, thé product is labled as a Civic si short throw shifter, dose that mean? It can’t go into my civic lx? I only ask because I don’t know what all the differences are between the different models of civics. Please help me out
You’re alright. No question is a stupid question on this channel, so feel free to ask whatever, whenever. So with a short throw shifter, that means what you are moving to select different gears. Short throw means the time bewteeen the shifts before you get to the next gear. A short shifter is designed to shorten the throw between shifts for faster transition time, usually for racing. Civic lx have different set ups I believe. Therefore, si parts aren’t really compatible. There is civic dx, lx, ex, si, etc.

It made my 2nd gear a little notchy but i dont mind i like it for the price i got mine for like 25 bucks on sale afew months ago.
How are the allan screws supposed to work? I can't get them to screw in more than 2 turns, are they supposed to go all the way in?

Hey bro I have a 2007 Honda Civic SI I know this video is quite old and I've had the car for a while but finally ended up purchasing this. Ran through all the steps thanks for the bed by the way but my problem is the connector that Clips onto the blue cap in my 08 SI is cockeyed to the left so when I went to go shift it would allow me to do 1,3,5 no 2,4,6 or reverse because it was hitting on the housing. First I need to figure out what the hell the part that Clips onto the blue cap is called what it goes to and if it's possible to straighten it because I think the problem would have resolved itself then. Any ideas what that's called
I wish i could help ya man & sorry for the issue man. I myself wondered what both of those parts are called. I'm sure if you bring up a picture of the 8th gen shifter and components, you'll find your answer.

These are only for 06-08's :( I own a 4dr 09 and I'll have to get the Buddy Club or Hybrid shifter.
Honestly, this thing is good, but I'd rather shoot towards the buddy club short shifter set up

Have same adapter on my 08 si fg2. I had to freaking drill into the shifter assembly to get clearance for the selector fork to reach the gears. And when I got it all clear it would grind first to second pull at high rpm so bad. Regular driving felt super nice but if I pulled second to many times I’ll probably have to replace synchro. So I took it out.
you clearly did the entire install bass ackwards... Gerb just showed how to do it and I know there is no difference between 07 and 08 si interior... dont give this product a bad name because you failed to install it.

One of the little tightening screws was backing off frequently, so make sure you use blue loctite.
Anyone know what that “blue cap” is called that goes at the end of the cables? I think they are called “end links”
My short shifter keeps popping out right there and I was hoping to replace just that part, but from the looks of it.c I’ll have to get the whole assembly

edit: nvm, just found a forum thread saying i would have to shave out my oem shifter, looks like i'll be saving for an entire assembly now :/

yep, apparently honda modified the shifting mechanism a bit on the 09-11 models, so there's less clearance for the short shifter adapter. it butts up against the 2nd ,4th,and 6th gears, and you have to shave some material off to make room for it. reference: www.8thcivic.com/forums/clutch-transmission/237796-skunk2-short-shifter-installed-09-si.html
i found a similar product made by CT-engineering that claims to fit the 09-11 models with no modifications necessary, but i sent them an email before buying just to make sure i dont get screwed over

06/08 man... I guess in 2009, they changed up the shifter assembly. Pretty sure You would have to cut or drill stuff

I don't think there is any comparison bro, even though i've never tried the hybrid. I've heard the hybrid shifts feel amazing though, plus the hybrid is a full assembly vs. this one piece.
Gerb Productions honestly I had the hybrid racing and it was too notchy. Wasn’t comfortable for daily driving imo. I ended putting the stock shifter back in with acuity base bushings and it feels good. I don’t mind the longer throw of the stock shifter.
