The Atlantic Ocean Road starts at Utheim on Averøy, close to the village of Kårvåg. It then passes across several islands, connected by a series of bridges. These include the Little Lauvøysund Bridge onto Lille Lauvøy, the Store Lauvholmen Bridge onto Store Lauvøy, and the Geitøysund Bridge onto Geitøya, which has a viewpoint and parking. The road continues across Eldhusøya and Lyngholmen, reaching Ildhusøya, where there is parking, a resting place, and a viewpoint. Then, it crosses the iconic Storseisundet Bridge, which is a cantilever bridge 260 meters long, straddling the municipal boundary between Eide and Averøy. After passing Flatskjæret, which has a viewpoint, the road continues onto Hulvågen, using the three Hulvågen Bridges, with a combined length of 293 meters. The road then runs through Skarvøy and Strømsholmen, both of which have a resting place, before finally reaching the mainland over the Vevangstraumen Bridge, which is 119 meters long.
