    Hey I have this guitar except mine is different color. Body I’d call burgundy and the fretboard is some kind of darker unfinished wood, looks too light for rosewood though, so idk. I just removed the neck on mine and skunk stripe is definitely real on mine because there’s a hole where it ends on the heel.

    • @rafaelzengo5534

      Hey, that's cool. I would love to have another one of these. I briefly had a california telecaster with a mystery "rosewood" of sorts fretboard, but that guitar was horrible in every aspect. So I think these California Squiers are a bit all over the map in terms of quality? Which is weird considering this Squier Strat in my video is a good guitar. How do you like yours? Oh yes, at the time I made this video I don't know why I said this, but the skunk stripe is definitely real.

      @@rafaelzengo5534 idk, factory defects wise, heel screws screw in at an angle, original bridge is meh and insides aren’t pretty. Mine is a hand-me-down though. I got it around 2008 and it was already pretty used (neck heel has 2005 stamped on it) it was never set up properly and barely played, I’m using it as a little project now, hoping to bring it into a better condition

      @@Nikita13337 Yes, I remember the original bridge, it wasn't too good. The ceramic pickups were quite microphonic. My guitar has changed a lot.

    Does anyone know how to inform the wood of construction of the body of this model?

    • @rafaelzengo5534
      @rafaelzengo5534  Год назад +2

      Squier used to inform on its website years ago that it’s Basswood, and I believe mine is basswood indeed, but I also believe it can vary for this line; I briefly had a Squier California Telecaster which could have been made out of matchboxes or something similar, it was a terrible kind of wood and not appropriate for a guitar at all.

    I have one, I bought it used without knowing what it was. Do you know what year did Squier make this series? Early 2000s?

    • @rafaelzengo5534
      @rafaelzengo5534  2 года назад

      Yes, from early to late 2000s. When the classic vibe line was introduced, they probably dropped the California model.

      Got one in 2003, birthday present when I was in school. HSS - but mine's an anniversary edition with a fat CBS-style headstock.

    The Squier California sounds very good
    What category is the California series in?

    • @rafaelzengo5534
      @rafaelzengo5534  Год назад +2

      Hi, yes, it's a nice little guitar. Not sure what you mean by category, but this is an extinct series from the early 2000s that was intended for the asian and south american markets.

      Let me fill in some blanks here. I had one of this Strat model back in 2006., but mine was rosewood fretboard. Since I'm not an expert, what i can tell you guys is California Series is considered a budget version of the guitar. Even lower than Bullet. It was made in China.

    • @rubendelgado4370
      @rubendelgado4370 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@shinobi880127 "The Squier Bullet guitars are made of laminated wood, unlike the Squier California, which is made of Masisa wood. Therefore, that is already a point in favor of being above the Bullet series."

    • @shinobi880127
      @shinobi880127 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@rubendelgado4370 Probably right on that. But back in the day, the price between this and Bullet suggested the otherwise, even though the difference were not too steep. Thus why i believe Bullet is better built. Just my thoughts.

    05:06 Would you mind weigh this guitar in Kg ?

    • @rafaelzengo5534
      @rafaelzengo5534  9 месяцев назад +1

      I wouldn’t mind if I had a scale. I can make a guess for now.. it’s probably above the 3kg mark. It’s not one of the heaviest guitars I’ve seen but not among the lightest. If I get to weigh it I’ll tell you.
