You could also talk about policy myopia and the fact that politicians often implement short-term economic policies that will gain them votes come election time, rather than considering the long-term best interests of society

Why is government failure not as popular as market failures? Everyone jumps too quick on the market failure wagon but they don't apply same standards to Government.
