QUESTION: Reviews online have confirmed the U8K uses an 8-Bit VA Panel in all models except for the 75" model. The 75" model of the U8K uses an 8-Bit IPS Panel. On the Best Buy website, Hisense just answered my question about what type of panel the U7K uses by saying all models use a VA 10-Bit Panel. Is that true? Does the U7K use a 10-Bit Panel while the U8K only uses an 8-Bit Panel? I'm asking because at 5:52 your review says an "8-Bit Panel" is used, but the Best Buy "Hisense Expert" claims it is "10-BIt," so I just want to confirm.
@@TechSteve Thank you for taking the time to confirm this. This means the "Product Expert of Hisense" that answered my question about the U7K on the Best buy website was either accidentally telling me incorrect information or intentionally lying. It makes me lean towards an intentional lie. I say this for several reasons: First, I didn't just say, "What type of Panel does the U7K use?" I specifically said, "Does the U7K use a VA Panel or an IPS Panel?" and I also asked, "Does the U7K use a true 10-BIt Panel or does the U7K use an 8-Bit Panel based on the '8-Bit plus FRC' technology that only 'simulates' a 10-Bit HDR technology?" Hisense had a "Product Expert" respond by saying, "The U7K uses a 10-BIt VA Panel. Second, I asked that same question about the U8K on the Best Buy website. But Hisense never responded. I suspect the reason Hisense never responded is because they fact-based answer is that the U8K only uses an "8-Bit Panel" rather than a "True 10-Bit Panel." I'm disappointed this year. TCL has 10-Bit Panels, but they are all VA Panels. I don't like VA Panels, because of the poor viewing angles. I was also disappointed TCL did not use an ATSC 3.0 Tuner this year. On the other hand, Hisense used an IPS with their 75" model - which is the size and type of panel I wanted. Unfortunately, the Panel is only 8-BIt. Other reviews have said this "8-Bit plus FRC" technology allows the HDR technology to be "Simulated," but it does not work will with the "True 12-Bit" Dolby Vision technology. It is also frustrating that Hisense didn't copy off of TCL by having the eArc input on a separate input than the two HDMI 2.1 inputs. I also thought it was disappointing that the TCL QM8 has weaker "Processing" that results in disappointing "upconversion" and disappointing "posturization." Reviews even said that a midrange Sony has better "Processing" than both the TCL QM8 and Hisense U8K. The bad thing is that Sony doesn't have Mini-LED. Overall, it is very disappointing this year. 😞
Support is there for user questions not technical questions like how things are built. They are limited to a faq in a database I know this because I use to work in a call center as a sr. Cellphone tech and we only had the fluffy stuff in the database. Most customers wouldn’t ask these types of questions but watching videos like mine are opening peoples eyes vs getting the cheapest thing because of Black Friday sales. Lol
I used the TCL as a personal TV for a few weeks in my bedroom and I was actually impressed by it, you can do down a rabbit hole with all these spec but it’s was better than I thought. I switched back to my 75” LG QNED90 with all the blooming but it’s a great TV overall
@@TechSteve Thank you for providing the Costco website specifications. Those are very nicely detailed. In the Costco specs, it points out the U7K can display MKV, MP4, and WMV for compressed video. This is nice, because I watch all of those with compressed movies I have on USB cards. It lists MP3, WAV, FLAC, and AAC as audio formats that it is compatible with; however, it does not list AC3 or DTS. This could potentially be a problem. I say this could potentially be a problem because I used a SDXC card to put on a phone in order to watch some mp4 movies last year. The video in mp4 format played; however, there was no audio at all. The reason why was because I used Handbrake to make it so the audio was in the AC3 format. An LG TV always played those mp4 movies in AC3 format without a problem, so I thought the phone would not have a problem. I definitely was wrong. I needed to go redo all of those movies in Handbrake in order to make it so the audio format was in AAC rather than AC3. After the files were made using mp4 video with AAC audio, it worked on the phone. This is why I'm concerned about not seeing AC3 and DTS on the Hisense U7K. Do you know if those formats of AC3 (Dolby Digital) and DTS will work with the U7K if someone tried to play an mp4 or mkv video from a USB card?

Big kudos for covering lower resolutions sources but I'm not as forgiving as you. Hisense should do better. I specifically said, "Does the U7K use a VA Panel or an IPS Panel?" and I also asked, "Does the U7K use a true 10-BIt Panel or does the U7K use an 8-Bit Panel based on the '8-Bit plus FRC' technology that only 'simulates' a 10-Bit HDR technology?"
Hisense had a "Product Expert" respond by saying, "The U7K uses a 10-BIt VA Panel.
Second, I asked that same question about the U8K on the Best Buy website. But Hisense never responded. I suspect the reason Hisense never responded is because they fact-based answer is that the U8K only uses an "8-Bit Panel" rather than a "True 10-Bit Panel."
I'm disappointed this year.
Do you know if those formats of AC3 (Dolby Digital) and DTS will work with the U7K if someone tried to play an mp4 or mkv video from a USB card?
how is this google tv, in my country it is vidaa, is it different for europe and other parts of the world?
what camera are you using with this tv? where and how much is it? thanks! :) and do i need to spend a lot for a camera? any info and or specs would be great! also this is a google tv why is it running on android 12?

I have a different type of remote, is the remote at 5:41 a region specific remote? I have U7KAU 55" in Australia.
I've made up my mind.
THIS is my TV.

Hey Steve, what can you say about the upscaling capability of the Hisense U8K? Also, is there a self-calibration to achieve the best picture posible?
I didn’t test too much because of my work load, when I get caught up I’ll have a 2nd look. I will say that if you have 1080p or better it’s fine. Best picture is up for debate because of personal preference, for example I like vivid but other despise it.
The More i watch your videos the more difference i pick up. You have a google U7k, mine uses a Vidaa software, the remotes are different too. are US and African models different or i bought a fake!?
Not fake the us gets google models
Hi,
Just wanna ask if you're U7H comes with Screen Share app or settings?? My U7K doesn't come with it and cannot cast or mirror it. Reached out to Hisense, they want me to update the latest firmware by side loading it. Any suggestions?
Hi steve. Ive just bought this u7k 65. From the uk. Im just wondering on some grey/black scenes or menu screens i can see slight vertical greys . Is this normal or a duff panel. ? Ill send it back to be replaced if its the case.
Its not like what youtube problem reviews are showing like barcode style. This is more like a slight screen burn.
Thank you
Sounds normal
I took pictures of it. Store said its a faulty panel. I hope it is as it is never a flat full colour ...you can see lines down the screen most the time when I was watching a series lastnight. If its normal I can't believe this tv gets reviewed .
Hi Steve, is the Hisense U7K the same as the U78KM in Canada? And more importantly do you know if it is HDCP 2.2 compliant? I want to buy the tv but I cannot find out if it is HDCP 2.2 compliant. I cannot find that info anywhere. Not even from the Hisense website. 🙄 Thanks!
Sorry I don’t know CA models
Okay but what about the U7K. Any idea if it’s HDCP 2.2 or 2.3? I enjoyed your video. I will definitely be watching more.
Just ordered a 55" version of this on Amazon. Would you recommend buying a warranty to go with this?
Wrong person about warranty because I mainly use these units for videos not everyday life so I wouldn’t know long Jevity
How is your tv holding up? Any major issues?
Hi Steve im in the market for a new TV. Saw at bestbuy TCL Q7 65 inch and U8H 65inch for 799. Which do you think is better? I’m only gonna use it for Netflix and RUclips. As always great video sir.
I haven’t reviewed a q7 to give you any information
Give it about a month for the dust to settle
@@Leonard.L.Churchsorry what did u mean by dust? Sorry don’t know much about tv. Im planning to get 75 inch tcl q7. But there’s an open box 65 inch u8H for 581$ excellent condition
@lyks1727 well that is an amazing deal. The phrase "wait for the dust to settle" means "wait a while after something was just invented to see how good it really is". But that deal is insane man, and the q7 is also looking great
Go with the TCL
Just bought u7k 55 inch, will get on sunday.
How has it been working after months have passed?
@@AndreaRodriguezZepeda its working great, display is really nice , supports hdr and 120hz on ps5 smoothly.

Hi what is thé measured peak brightness on sdr and hdr content on this unit (u7k) on digiyal trends the uh8 was measured at 2000 nits but its advertised as 1500. The u7k is advertised as 1000 but what is thé measured unit?
65 inch model is ips mini led right?
Is this better than the U8H?
Very helpful thanks
I'm a little bit confused, is this the same model as the 55U78KM ? That's the model I could find in Canada, found it cheaper than Sony X80k, I'm guessing this is the better option right ?
yep is the same model and it's like an ID for Canada.
do you recommend this over the x80k and x85k?@@SlashFever
Can you do a lg a2 VS u7 or u8
So which is actually a better choice, the U8H or the U7K?
Whichever is the better price
How many inches is the bottom of the tv to the surface of the TV stand?? If you could
Is this TV better then the e7kqtuk pro
This or u7n ?
I'm not sure about PS5, but Xbox Series X can do VRR.
Can this tv be wall mounted? Does it affect the sound, since the subwoofers are on the back?
ruclips.net/video/WN7yNZj3MNI/видео.html no bass is omni directional, the video will answer your other questions
If im just watching tv with a cheap antenna or casting from my phone do i really need this high end of tv? Can i get away with a cheaper 60hz motion rate basic led For half the price ?
Up to you, budget tv normally has a backlight system where the picture looks grey not inky black
Where can i find part 2 ?
Sorry, I’m new to these smart tv. Do I need to log into my google account to use this tv? Are there any tv that I wouldn’t have to login into anything?
You don’t have to login to Google unless you want to use Smart features and download apps
U7k or tcl q7? Im torn
How easy / difficult is is to completely turn off and avoid the Smart TV features? My parents are already familiar with Amazon Fire TV Stick and dislike learning new things (yeah, I know lol). So can the Smart functions be completely disabled?
The goal is to plug in the Fire TV stick and do all streaming through the stick without the built-in Smart functions popping up prompts that'll confuse my mother.
Google allows a basic setup and you don’t have to use wifi
Is u7k better than lg mini led
Can u do a video for best settings? Greetings from germany
Is it the best 65 inch for 830 USD ?
How is the light bleed on this tv?
Is this the U7KQTUK?
hi, i just bought 55U7k.. but i have Vida instead of Google tv , the remote also a bit different and the setting menu ui also looks different.. can i know why ?😅
Google is on US models
Hisense U7K or sony X82L
Required is picture quality
Pls suggest
Big kudos for covering lower resolutions sources but I'm not as forgiving as you. Hisense should do better.
On paper this TV ought to destroy the Sony x90L but the dimming algorithm (yes, I realize its Achilles heel is blooming) and video processing work so much better that I suspect overall the Sony has better PQ. No, I don't own the x90L or even a Sony for that matter.
Sony is great for movies and overall pq but Hisense is much better at gaming and controls. Besides the Sony blooming it’s amazing
Will this tv play SD DVDs full screen or window boxed like the 480p demo you showed
Your player automatically should make it wide but the quality of DVD isn’t as good, I would suggest you check into streaming services
Thank you for the reply. Does the u8k upscale 480p better? Unfortunately there are a lot of good movies in my collection that never went to streaming or blu ray.
Which movie is the disney movie example?
Hi, this is u7k 2023, because in my marker TV with different lower stant!!
K series is 2023 the N series is 2024
I'm confused why hisense U7K use google tv OS not Vidaa OS. Is Hisense use any different OS on different country?
USA models has Google TV
You mentioned Xbox or PS 5 won’t be able to take advantage of the 120hz?
No man 144Hz
Xbox and ps5 will do 120hz, but not 144hz. Honestly there isn't a big difference with the extra 24hx
can anyone explain why a gaming console won't be able to take advantage of the HDMI 3 & 4 connections with 144hz?
0:05 Error: This TV is NOT 120Hz, it's 144Hz. Says so on the box.
I explained that when I go over the inputs, it happens
Is it better than TCL C805 (C755)? Thanks!
C series isn’t sold in the United States 🇺🇸
Thanks for the answer
Is it normal for it to be slightly bent in the middle? Or is it a defect?
That doesn’t seem normal
@@TechSteve it is very slightly curved, but you can only notice it by looking at it from the side. Could this be done specifically for better side vision? I saw another Hisense TV in a store with the same slight curvature
@gabriellevy4460 I didn’t notice but I wasn’t looking for that, I’m sure it’s fine
@@TechSteve thanks
Hi Steve. Just bought the 55U7K but I have a question. With my 4K fire stick max on HDMI 3, I only get a choice of 4 Dolby Vision picture settings on RUclips TV. But when I run RUclips TV (in app) I’m able to get much more picture mode choices. We like to use the Fire Stick 4K because we have a lot of streaming apps loaded. Is there any way to get my fire stick and get all the picture options?
Thanks!
I haven’t used a firestick in a long time, but most 4k streamers you have an option to change the video output to SDR or HDR so you have to find that in the menu and turn off
@@TechSteve I checked fire stick settings. Color was on 8bit. Changed to 12 bit and checked picture mode and now I have all options. Thanks! Steve.
@@Vinrazz58thanks for coming back to state this. I don’t have this tv but I love when people come back to follow up things they find!
@@Vinrazz58I’m about to set mine up to. I too prefer to use my fire stick. Did you change to SDR or HDR?
Does it matter which hdmi?
Also did you change the setting you mentioned on the fire stick or on tv?
@@SC-qy6if hi. Apparently the color bit setting on my fire stick was limiting my available picture mode settings. Make sure your FS color is set to 12bit. I’m using HDMI 3 which is eARC.
