- We are currently on the small and beautiful Greek Island of Skiathos for 2 weeks. Unfortunately severe storms have rolled in and are forecast over the next few days.
It has come as a surprise to many on the island and has caused a lot of damage. Most people are physically safe but it has caused a lot of distress on the island.
Any generated revenue will go directly to a relief fund or one of the local animal shelters

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. In the next 1-4 years, natural disasters will increase tens of times all over the world. These are cosmic processes that repeat cyclically every 12,000 years, and they not related to human activity.

It has been a big impact for us all. Especially for the people that have built everything here to live of for a whole year, since in the winter there will be no-one here. Absolutely devastating.

Thank you for sharing. Please pass on our thoughts and prayers to Costas and his family, Kiki, Linda and the rest of the team at the hotel. We have been coming for nearly 10 years, most recently back in May and had such a wonderful time. Safe travels home to you and your family too.
Thanks for the video. We are actually in Skiathos Town and I would say that around 17:00 last night was the worst. The rushing water basically reached my waist. I think all in all we got lucky because if the rain continued as it was it could have been much, much worse. I think your video captured that it happened in multiple "waves"... one second you think it's all fine and an hour later it's 10x worse. The scariest part was just how quickly it escalated. It was raining very hard all day and there was back and forth flooding but those streets turned into deep dirty rivers so fast around 5:00 pm. I saw similiar sights that you did... cars and mopeds being swept up, trees and debris floating down streets. I hope all the cats are okay. We had a flight out today but clearly that's not happening as the airport has cancelled all flights. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for commenting Peter, yes agreed it was scary how quickly the roads turned into rivers again! Fingers crossed you can return home safely soon. We’ve bought some cat food today for our local cats, a few took shelter in our hotel and the guests have been feeding them ham

Thanks for the video. It looked pretty harrowing. We were due to stay at Somnia from Monday but we had to cancel. However, we’ve been in touch with Kostas and we’re heading out next week. Thanks again.

My daughter and 14 of her BFF’s spent 9 days of vacay in this paradise in May to celebrate her 30th birthday. They stayed in a beautiful villa on the top of a hill and walked many places, visited a few beaches, took a boat trip and dined at many great restaurants. She spoke about the lovely people who live and work there and how welcoming and kind they were.
Even though I wasn’t there, I share her sadness and shock at what this storm has done to this bucolic, incredible place and its people.
Your presentation and professionalism are both terrific and everything is clearly stated, and those of us looking for news very much appreciate this effort.

Thank you so much for your kind comment🤍 it’s such a beautiful place and we’re very sorry for the locals suffering from the damage. It’s a sunny day today and the storm has finally cleared. The island is making a strong recovery although it will take longer for some. I fly home today but am very much looking forward to revisiting the island in future 🤍
Just flew out of Skiathos this Saturday. This looks and feels absolutely unreal. I really hope you're okay, I'm trying to check the situation in the place I stayed, up the hill from bus stop 7.

We had a week in Skopelos, great weather.Flew back from Skiatos Sunday the 3rd of September. We were lucky that the bad weather didnt come whilst we were there.Sending best wishes to the lovely Greeks
We were there , in fact that's our hire car the aqua green vitara in the car park we are so lucky it survived, the amount of logs and concrete blocks that were stuck underneath it was crazy. So very sorry for the locals but amazed at the turnaround they performed. by Friday the difference was unreal.😢😊
We stayed at the Aklyon hotel back in June and had a fabulous two weeks.Hard to imagine the impact these storms have on the local people and businesses.Some of the roads going north were sketchy back in June I imagine they are pretty much washed away now.Some serious road repairs will be needed all over the island so hope the money can be found to do it.We hope to return next year.Stay safe everyone.

Unfortunately, serious difficulties due to a significant increase in natural disasters will begin from 2024 all over the world. And by 2030 there may be nobody left, because the conditions won't be suitable for life.

Things are improving. They have drained the pool, so I expect it to be up and running by this evening. The weather is getting better. It was lovely yesterday, and it looks like it's going to be a scorcher today. We're here until Thursday, so at least we can do some catching up. We've hired a quad bike for exploration and adventure for the rest of our time here. Hope the weather is still good for you back in the UK.

Yes, so sad, but every year the number of natural disasters will increase worldwide. A very important climate report was voiced by scientists here: *"Global* *crisis.* *There* *is* *a* *way* *out"* (time 4:37-31:30).
The only solution is the *Creative* *Society,* where human life will be the highest value, so everyone will be guaranteed safety, well-being and a high standard of living.

Hellow. I work at Dolphins in Skiathos. Today, there was not much rain, but still there were no planes that landed. We will cross our fingers for better weather friday. But do not expect any clear and sunny weather. Maybe later that week it will be like it was before. But unfortunately, as for the hotels, I cannot guarantee anything, as we are all recovering and repairing.

I watched both your videos and I can't seem to find out which hotel are you staying at? I have a friend who lives there and I would like to know if where you're staying/filming at is anywhere near to where my friend lives.

Indeed. About 700 mm has fallen. Water poring down the mountain like a wild river from about 1.5 meters deep. Insane to see. Never have I witnessed and be a victim of something like this myself
Can I ask what its like now? Due to stay there on the 17th for one week.
I have seen in my world weather internet display there will come many more rain. Thank you for report, so sorry for your holyday and all people there. Hope they can clean up this quickly. Next rain clean up mud from streets. There comes strong rain for long time with over 22 Liter in one hour per sm. Same weather in Türkei. Here in germany is finest sunshine and 30 Grad.

We are staying at the port - around the corner from bus stop 0 & 5 minute drive from the airport

Were in a hotel just below the petrol station going out of town at bus stop 4. The basement and ground floor are completely un useable - reception. Lobby. accom. Kitchen. Cellar. Offices. Restaurant. Bar. All beach front has disappeared. The old concrete steps from the 1989’s were exposed as the sand got washed into the sea. Then this concrete was compromised and broke away from the main structure of the building. Such force was very scary.
Im at zorbas bus stop 16 and the devastation is unreal i have never seen a storm like we had in all my life, my heart goes out to the locals,
We are due to fly out on Saturday, staying at the Elisabeth studios which I think is near where you are.
Has it been affected badly in that area.
@mik3031 yes its bad our hotel have had no electricity for 2 days and is still out, im sure come Saturday everything should be ok some of the restaurants wont be open sadly due to flooding

@mik3031 thanks, been here a week was due to fly back yesterday to Bristol but now Tomorrow all being well, me and family have had a good time here just so sad for the locals
It’s such an amazing island, hopefully you will be ok for the end of the week. There will still be some damages but the storm should have moved on

When there are no storm drains anywhere that's what happens! Plus the weather agency in Greece doesn't report weather as there supposed to!
