Mill Creek Culvert Replacement 2016

A barrier to fish passage in Mill Creek, a tributary to the White Salmon River, was corrected in summer 2016, improving the stream habitat for native fish.
The old 4-foot diameter culvert under Lakeview Road was removed and replaced with a new, 19.9-foot-wide, open-bottom box culvert. Now salmon, steelhead and other fish can access more than four miles of the cold, clear waters of Mill Creek.
Multiple partners and stakeholders worked together to make this project possible.
This project was implemented by Underwood Conservation District, in partnership with Skamania County Public Works, Tenneson Engineering Corporation of the Dalles, Inter-Fluve, Inc. of Hood River, and multiple funding partners. Construction was completed by James Dean Construction, Inc. of White Salmon, Washington.
