    I’d like to try and get in at Old Dominion as a line driver after I get a few years experience. I’ve heard so many great things about them. I’ve only been truck driving since July. Here in Portland, Oregon, line drivers run triples and it takes 1-2 years of tractor trailer experience before the state will even allow you to be certified for triples, that and it’s very hard to get in because the drivers at OD love it and don’t want to leave, so job openings are extremely competitive in my area.

      Od is definitely a good career choice. You can work your way up to just about any position. I really mean it, there have been guys who started on the dock and have become operation mangers. The 401k is ok I think they march around 5%. The benefits I good cant really tell much about those because dont have kids and i only use them to get a tooth pulled, but they a few different plans. If you are a dockworker or driver be prepared to work around 50 to 60 hours every week. They over time sucks because most OD siteS don't pay over time until after 60 hours. mangers work 8 hours. Most dock supervisors and dispatchers work 12 hour shits but it's 1 week on and 1 week off pretty nice, but some terminals are different.

    • @kris1987ful
      @kris1987ful  4 года назад

      Yea starting out in line haul you don't have set off days. You work until you run out of hours and have to reset or if its slow. You're basically on call, they call you ever 10 hours, so you will work mornings, evenings and night, constantly rotating. The shortest run i think is tyler, tx but you'll do more than that. Let's say u go to tyler, well tyler may send you to texarkana or they may give you 3 tyler runs

    • @kris1987ful
      @kris1987ful  3 года назад +1

      Over a 100k easily. You come in as a extra board driver, meaning you don't have a set run or an assigned truck. They call you every 8 to 10 hours to give your route. You get a 34 reset and start all over again. You can ask for a day off if you want to be off a full two days. After a year or two, you should have a bid run with an assigned tuck, depending on how many people quit, ge fired, retire, or how many new runs they add. They will have your rank number in break to see how far you down on the extra board. Then you can start bidding on runs when you reach the top
