    Did anyone notice the media asking questions about an immediate effect on energy bills.
    Wished they asked the same about the immediate effect of brexit with the same urgency.
    Immediate positives for labour, long-term maybes for conservatives.

  • @peterweston1356
    @peterweston1356 2 месяца назад +7

    I commend the ‘energy’ Labour are bringing to this desperate problem, that is supplying affordable U.K. based clean energy to households and businesses. Such challenges as generation, supply chains, delivery networks, commercial practices, skills shortages both technical and commercial. All this will require folk to work more effectively and collaboratively, not just put more hours in. My experience of the U.K. private sector leadership suggests a 20th century attitude to solving business problems and exploiting opportunities we don’t lack education and intellect, but ambition. Our private sector leaders are mainly accountants more interested in reducing risk and cutting costs. Training and development is regards as overhead, and seen as a perk, except for mandated or politically expedient training ( e.g health and safety and DEI). We have a generation coming into the workplace who struggle with collaboration, lacking fundamental social skills AND in my opinion across the board we have a woeful lack of basic business skills including, negotiation, leading teams, understanding basic finance, recruitment, top talent development. These issues are the Achilles heels of the Labours Mission Driven Government. Without using world class resources to increase personal productivity, their mission will fail.

    At last we're on the path towards being a renewable energy superpower. I'm sure a lot of people take the word superpower with a bucket of salt, but what it means is this:
    Once we have enough generation and energy storage capacity to get us through the worst weeks of winter when it's freezing and the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing, just think how much excess capacity we'll have on a hot, sunny, windy day in summer. We'll have so much we'll have to come up with ways to use it - sell it abroad, make hydrogen/ammonia, desalinate water - the list is endless.
