      Transcript:
      Q: "Are you working for the other guys?"
      A: "I don't agree with that analysis at all. Infact I think it's quite ironic that today we've heard from the Irish govt & others that we are breaching international agreement, yet the cornerstone of all of their approach seems to be about protecting the core principles of the Belfast Agreement, but it doesn't appear to matter what the position of unionists is, it doesn't seem to matter the constitutional imposition the protocol has on the relationships between NI and the rest of the UK, the Belfast Agreement is an international treaty which hasn't been respected one bit."
      1. The DUP have been trying to get the BA removed since it's inception, they hate it... they have never respected it.
      2. The NI protocol was written & implemented by London, why is his grievance with Ireland? Oh yeah...

    @chrism7969 2 года назад +17

    Here is the brutal truth about the DUP. They thought leaving the EU would emphasise the border between them and the Republic of Ireland. They saw the Good Friday Agreement and the UK's membership of the EU blurring that border and leading to a creeping Reunification. They thought leaving the EU would put an end to that and make reunification less likely.
    They learnt to their cost that trusting a PM who says he is going to lie when signing a legally binding international treaty is probably a mistake. He's just as likely to be lying to you.
    Boris couldn't care less about Northern Ireland or anything that he promised the DUP. Once he got what he wanted he didn't need them anymore. If it comes to a choice between the interests of the rest of the UK and the interests of the DUP, he's going to choose the interests of the rest of the UK.
    He won't back them in their current temper tantrum, it's just a useful stick to prod the EU with, but if it looks like the DUP"s actions would collapse the UK's trade agreement with the EU then those border controls in the Irish sea are going back in place.
    I expect the DUP leadership overpay for their double glazing. I mean fancy trusting Johnson's word, was it a 1-day only special offer, that they had to sign up to there and then and don't worry about what the words of the contract, the double glazing salesman has promised it will be different to that.

    It really doesn't matter a hill of beans what the UK or DUP or NI says or does because the UK is a 3rd country and will forever be treated as a 3rd country any 3rd country. If the UK ignores and violates the Belfast agreement or any other international agreement the UK will be punished severely in several ways, all of which will cause the UK to suffer greatly. For any UK inhabitant and business the least they should do is make plans, pack their bags and get out while they still can and, like my grandparents, never look back and that's the beginning of a happy prosperous life.

    I find it incredible that the DUP leadership didn't even consider the challenge of taking the UK out of the EU without there being a hard border one one or other side of Northern Ireland.
    There had to be a border between the UK and the EU unless we stayed in the customs union and the single market. There could not be a hard border between Ireland and the EU (because duh!).
    So there had to be a border either between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland or between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
    A border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland would upset the fragile peace that was formed as a result of the Good Friday Agreement, and there was no way the EU was going to accept that. As it turned out, the USA would not let that happen either.
    The only remaining options were: (1) a border in the Irish Sea between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, or (2) keeping the UK in the customs union and the single market.
    Or just cancelling the entire shitshow as unworkable.

    RTE is like any other media. They have their favorite's, FG and FF in Ireland. Many journalists work as advisors and have for years to these two parties. They gloss over their relentless scandal's and crisis issue. RTE love to be seen as how you are portraying them. RTE is like the BBC, but in Ireland we don't have alternative medias to challenge this narrative. So the people working in RTE are all in a golden circle since the foundation of the Irish state. Funded by Government totally and when we've had the same two parties in power for 100 years, it leads to a cozy working relationship. Not the media holding politicians to account. Zero accountability in Ireland, a political class run the country and if you are critical of them, the media say you're mad. They'll attack a British or American politician for saying "abc" and go to town on them. In Ireland the same thing could happen and they may not even mention it on the news. The only people RTE attack in Ireland are SF and the Left. They fear change more than any establishment in Ireland. Where are all these journalists going to get cushy advisor roles on 90k a year if FG and FF aren't in power. Its nice to see the media do its job but RTE is generally disliked in Ireland. They were the sole and root cause for Sean Gallagher losing the presidential election 9 years ago now... great and shocking story. They cover up for Government and people in Ireland see RTE as a propaganda station for the Government, a Government which has always been FG or FG. Love the channel and style of messaging, keep up the great content,

And only the DUP as the UUP wanted to remain in the EU.... That there would never be a border on the island of Ireland due to the Good Friday Agreement as the the guarantors of that agreement and significant interested parties (EU, Irish govt, and US govt) said that under no circumstances would there be a border on the island....
