This video was extremely informative. In fact, despite that we inhabit 2 different continents, the information you provided is very easily transferred to any country.
As such, I will pass this on to my people to potentially use as a teaching tool for our local cadets to have a thorough grasp on orienteering and M&C skills.
Thank you for your very well versed explanations. This is why I prefer longer format videos

I’ve been walking and navigating my way around Dartmoor all my life. I consider myself quite good at reading a map but when I’m asked to explain how I do it or to teach a family member how it’s done, I’m useless. From now on I will just tell them all to watch, subscribe and share your channel . You explain things in such a fantastic way, be it map reading or about equipment, you are a joy to watch. Thanks Sheamus .

Greetings from Ireland! - Why is RUclips such a success? Well the answer is quite simple really - It's because of the generosity of people like Shamus McCaffery, who go to the great effort in making these time consuming, very helpful and informative videos. They so freely share and pass on their knowledge and experience to make life easier for us. Thanks Tom

@@outdoorsinspiration9284 Seemed like a big thing at the time. A stubborn part of my brain likes to think it means I know all about this sort of stuff despite barely having touched a compass in 30 years. Great to have well made videos which remind me that I really don't know as much as I think, and which remind me to brush up before roaming anywhere silly! And which also inspire me to get out and do some roaming. Thanks for your efforts.

I don’t normally add comments but this was a really good video, there was a lot of content and it was explained very well, I can see you have done this before, I will agree when you say when you walk on a bearing in thick fog it is difficult to hit what you have set your bearing too. I spent one day walking the pennine way on peat bog having to cover a distance of about 25 miles and I was on my own you learn quickly. But great video I am teaching my son as we are going out soon for his first walk on a national park. Thanks
