3:49 Yes. Since a couple of years, all of the Eurocitys and Euroights that make a stop or terminate in Venice have to be reversible, since Venezia Santa Lucia station doesn't allow any loco change. The rear loco will be stationed in Tarvisio (border station between Italy and Austria) and attached back at the train coming from Vienna/Munich next morning
From Venice to Munich on a train looks really very exciting especially looking at all of the awesome beautiful countryside and scenery along the way, this is an amazing ride thank you. 🇮🇹🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚂🇩🇪
I also like this kind of sleeping car. I know it is difficult to find a good price for the Deluxe Cabin, but it really depends for which day and when you are booking, also if you have a discount it would then be more cheaper. The pillows in the nightjet are not so good, but Ceske Drahy has better ones. Your video was great
There are 2 stations that are very close to their respective cities that immediately come to my mind (5-10 minutes walk). Newcastle Central and Peterborough in the UK. Both served by LNER on the East Coast main line. There are others, such as Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Edinburgh Waverley and Inverness.
3:13 A small correction: the route shown on the map is not correct. Trains between Venice and Austria take the northern route via Treviso and Conegliano to Udine, not via Portogruaro.
That's a nice trip to do. I wonder if you'll do the 'Ligne de l'Aubrac / des Causses' someday, because I saw almost no one doing it and it's very scenic (it goes on the Garabit bridge). Really an underrated line. Edit: there are massive trackworks on the Clermont-Ferrand - St Chely d'Apcher section, which is the best and most scenic one (because it goes on the Garabit Eiffel Bridge). It should reopen this November tho.
I was given a book by a friend a number of years ago about night trains: it was principally about their demise. Hats off to OBB who have pioneered the reintroduction of night trains. So much nicer than;hung which has become so banal.
Agree. It’s a bit of a cheap attempt at content posting a 2 1/2 year old video on a review channel. Totally out of date information and a bit of a cop-out. But I’ve seen a few RUclipsrs on airline reviews do it then expect us to subscribe.
You are excused for posting an old vidoe this weekend due to all the disruptiosn on SNCF territory 🙂Do you know if the disruptions affected trains on conventional lines (including overnight trains) or were those oerating on normal schedule and perhaps more ful than usual?
The NJ237 from Stuttgart to Venice drives not on the Highspeedlinie between Wendlingen - Ulm. They drive on the classic line, with a extra Stop in Göppingen (Home of Märklin). I think the problem is that the Taurus of the ÖBB, not all are equipped with ETCS. The 101 of the DB also have no ETCS, only LZB and they are going out of service in the next few years.
I'm guessing the opening of the HS line opened some capacity on the classic line for this service to use it.
4 месяца назад
I think the problem is not ETCS but the capacity constraint on the HSL on the Wendlingen. There's a long one tracked section there, and this is train might be only allowed for 160km/h means it takes longer for it to travel that one tracked section.
Great video, but oh man, bad memories of the trip I took on this route last August. We got on in Venice, and soon learned that due to flooding in the region south of Salzburg, the train would not reach Stuttgart, but only be going only as far as Villach, though we were free to spend the night on the train, at least until 06:30, when we were all told to take a train to Spital- Millstattersee, where there would be coaches to take us on to Salzburg. However on arrival, there were only 4 full up coaches, and no more coming. In the end due to the rail link to Salzburg still out of use, could only take a train to Vienna, where we ended up on another night train (seated this time!) to Amsterdam, where we flew home to the UK, all coaches, ferries and Eurostars having been booked up due to some air traffic control fiasco the day before! Would have been bad enough, but was travelling with my 80 year old mother, it certainly took it's toll on her.
It is perfect. It is not "luxurious" as in the revoltingly stupid Orient Express, it is perfect. It has the things your really need: A good bed, a toilet a shower, only missing a nice restaurant car. It saves you a night in an hotel... so you basically travel for free.
Nightjets are incredibly expensive, why do people even want this for this price and for just a few hours... 250-300€ should be forever because the first class costs like probably 150 €
@@goodmensch Trenitalia’s Intercity Notte eats up the Nightjet without a doubt. And the costs of the Italian one are infinitely lower. With the necessary advance booking, a person can travel from Naples to Palermo for €58.90. It is a 10-hour journey in which the train crosses the strait on a boat. Nothing to do with the Austrian theft-wagon.
A 2 and a half year old video is a 2 and a half years old video. It’s not a review. Its useless. To many RUclipsrs are doing this. Turned off after 2 minutes. It’s meaningless as information.
Just from Munich center to the airport already takes longer than that - 50mins train journey. For an international flight like this most people will be there around 2h earlier. Disembarking the plane and getting outside of airport easily 20mins more. The fastest option to get to the center of Venice is a 20min bus (but there are longer options with boats). So at the bare minimum, and being extremely optimist, you already wasted 4h30 of your day time, but realistically it will be over 5h. But yeah sure, you'll be there in 45mins!! And you come to comment that on a video where he just boarded the train in the city center, slept and woke up the next morning at the city center of the destiny without wasting day time.
@@f.g.9466a plane no matter how you dress it will be faster. I note you didn’t put the time it will take to wait for the train and get to hotels either.
@@xr6lad not really. If you're looking at daytime travel, city center to city center, actual High Speed rail will get you there faster, easily, for distances of up to 400Km, maybe even a bit more. It will vary depending on destination pair and airport locations etc. Even at 600 Km high speed rail is extremely competitive with pretty similar journey times. From 700Km onward the airplane is undoubtedly faster. The thing you missed here is that this video was a night train! Yes it's slower, but you're sleeping, just as you would during any other night, so you don't really waste time of your day. Waiting times: on a day train, in Schengen Zone or in a place like Japan, you turn up 10 or 15min before your train lol. Same for domestic trains in the UK, you get screwed when you got to pass border checks between the UK and Schengen. On a night train like this you usually turn up a bit earlier for boarding, 20min or even 30min, but again, it's night time already and you're about to go to bed.
Eh, depends on where you're departing from. Are you close to the airport or do you need to drive an hour? And have fun wasting hours in an airport building with all those smelly people. Oh and enjoy being cramped up like a sardine in a can. That "45 minutes" flight can feel like 4.5 hours.
Considering all the recent obscene price hikes made by Nightjet, this video is quite useless and outdated. Shame on the owner of this channel for being lazy and deceptive by recycling content that is over two and a half years old.
Train trips are so cool and the ones with train stations in the middle of the cities are great!
Always a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
Traveling by night train has always been attractive to me👌

Wow, we are looking back from future
There is also a nightjet that leaves from La Spezia and also stops in Genoa and arrives in Munich while a part is divided to go to Vienna

Why were you worried about missing your connection? Are there a lot of trains betweeen Munich and Paris?
Only one round trip a day. Ticket not exchangeable
Because Germany XD
The prices for NJ trains... just embarassment, I think that the prices now are too high.
