Yup, sometimes you have to send in the Marines. My tree company has done a great job on Japanese knotweed and wisteria on my property. We also have a local landscape company that specializes in removing invasive plants and planting natives -- they have tackled gigantic multiflora roses, oriental bittersweet and a bunch of other thugs. It's amazing what a team of strong young people with the right tools can do! So worth it.

Bald cypress grow happily in the Louisiana swamps with their roots fully in water. As for hiring help, I’m 76 with arthritis in back and hands. Help is essential!

WISE decision! You certainly have a nasty collection back there. I’ve been very lucky here on the other side of town - I found a few baby Smilax and got rid of them as they appeared (whew!). Unfortunately, some honeysuckle appeared. It made great headway before I noticed it. Good grief, turn your back and it’s EVERYWHERE! 😱. I appreciate your Public Seervice Announcement on invasive! 👍🏻 If only I could train the chickens to dig those up….🐓🐓

Wow I never really thought about hiring someone for a job in the garden. I've hired tree services before to trim some large poplars over my house and to cut down ash trees that were infested, but never considered hiring for other jobs. Now that I think about it I want to hire a sod service to remove grass so I can plant more stuff in the ground. Thank you for the tip!

Looks good! My thorn bushes have thick woody 2 inch stems rooted into dense rocky soil. They’re probably 60 years old. Wish me luck.

Looks wonderful-is there still a clump of invasives left a one end kind of behind the grey outbuilding?

They seem to be leaving most of them alone, but I just set up the motion activated sprinklers so hopefully they will help. I was up at 3am and had 5 eating in the front garden.
