Just started taking pictures for Bromley FC, you helped me a lot Mark as inspiration and as a teacher!! Will hopefully bump into you at a game in the near future 🤙🏼👊🏼
I did film a couple of night games. Editing wise, very similar really as I set up to expose as usual. It’s more about settings than editing on a night game, mainly concentrating on iso range and shutter speed. ruclips.net/video/79sYl6kPtPU/видео.htmlsi=8Ka0M2SjK1LVYAzN ruclips.net/video/uIpIIGJYMrE/видео.htmlsi=toUGxR2q3GxXgpPV
Thanks Mark, I can only imagine how challenging it must be to edit on the hoof with everything going on around you plus the sunlight on your screen etc etc..like you say, its so important to get it as correct in camera as possible..I guess overcast days are not so bad after all..have a good game tomorrow..
Hi Mark , you might be busy this weekend with football but as you'll know its Yorkshires top rally of the year the Trackrod with the first stage Fri. night in Dalby . I've got some stage maps available if interested . Cheers
I've been looking for some rally stages how do you find them, I am south east based in the kent area and it seems like there are no longer any rally stages in the area, are you aware of any?
Thanks Clive. I’ll dial in different settings for night games Clive. Change white balance, probably set iso at around 1000 and work shutter speed to suit👍🏻
To edit this kind of Image I use subject masking option in photoshop camera raw to select players then have presets in the masking option aimed at lifting shadows on the players only This way the background is unaffected and is normally well balanced as I Use evaluated metering.
Great video as always, quick question you mentioned “raw” image, I had thought prior videos you mentioned for sports on pitch you always shot jpeg. Did you mean when said raw, just the original image unedited ? Cheers
I know you're restricted by time constraints and shoot JPEG, but RAW would give you way more room to drag and push things back. Useful to see your settings 😊
i shoot raw for gigs but jpeg for football.you are correct that raw gives more room to drag back but it also gives huge file sizes which take up a lot of hard drive space
@@JgHobley I always shoot & use RAW, even on tight schedule and do all my editing in CamerRaw (as Mark does, but when when converting the RAW file to JPEG). So when the photo opens in PhotoShop I "only" (eventually doing some straightening and some cropping that I missed in PM) save the image. I am using a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 with 32GB RAM and Intel Core i7 2 3GHz and do not have any speed problems.

Interesting to see your work process. Could you show us how you'd edit for a night-time match?

Never easy under pressure during a game Mark, but excellent description of the techniques used to recover images taken in harsh lighting.

Mark very interesting. QQ Do you have the same in camera settings for night games?

Sorry yes, raw meaning unedited jpg👍🏻

RAW is far better but as sports photographers we just don't have the time. Also, 4k RAW files per game would break my laptop lol

Maybe a raw photo will be better, but you can set colours individualy in Lightroom, so try to use that instead od camera raw.
Stay behind the Rotherham net tomorrow, there'll be plenty of goals flying in there for sure
E edits a single pic. You should setup Camera RAW straight from PM. I've sent you screenshots
