"he wanted it comfortable, i wanted that pain" is your motto this reading vlog
EXACTLY.
he wanted a bride i was making my own nameeee
chasing that fame
He stayed the same
All of me changed like midnight
you should do a “re reading my 5 star reads: are they still 5 stars” as a wrap up for the year! like is a book you rated 5 in jan still a 5 after reading more books this year?
Oh that sounds fun! Maybe in January I’ll do that
i read “if he had been with me” a few months ago. i gave it 2 stars. you mentioned chapter 84. i re-read chapter 84 until the end of the book. i cried for 20 minutes. this book is definitely not a 2 stars ahaha i’m CRYING ahhh
Honestly it was for me. There were alot of miscellaneous details in there with no plot. Then towards the end you get this ending. And yes it was emotional, but then they ruined ita few pages later. I was scrapping and crawling trying to get through that book. It felt like there was no sense of direction (but I got the point of the book).
@@squidwardtentacles7144 yea i feel what you’re saying. there are some books that make you feel like your in that world, and then there were books that are just you reading texts on paper. it kinda was like pulling teeth to read this ngl, but i agree the ending is sad and then its kinda like a “what the heck” moment after the main sad event
I am so done with this ahhh. I just started it today and completely right noww. And idk wht im feeling. I am CRYING plzzzjdjd
Yes, almost the whole book seems like a whole lot of nothing. BUT you gotta remember the emotions and thoughts of a YA. It’s not cheesy, it can be relatable, everything is dramatic but it’s what makes the emotions hit that much harder! Love this book. I still think about it 😭
I'm so excited for the sequel
You should do reading christmas/winter themed books for a week! That would be fun!
Omg I love this idea! I hope she does this ❤
Love this idea!!!
yesss!
Yeeessss a reading vlog of Holiday romance books
I've been wanting to read some but I don't know any, if you make a video I might get some recs.
I absolutely LOVED ‘The Things We Leave Unfinished’ and I still think about those characters 😭😭
Me too. One of my favorite reads to this day. I remember when I read the plot twist and my jaw was on the floor. I was raving about it for a whole night and was even telling a friend of mine that she needs to read it.
I LOVED all the bright places when I read it a year ago and it’s one of those books that just alters your entire being, I felt so deeply touched and affected by the characters and plot, I felt my core moving and adapting after it, I felt my brain relaxing and molding after a new home. And that is a personal experience affected by my own experience, knowledge and how I process or store information. I got confirmation of that early because I read the book with my book club and no one had the same experience as me. Isn’t that beautiful? How we all read the same exact words in the same order and perceive it so enormously different? Anyways, I appreciate you Sara for always being kind. I really don’t know how you do it but every single book you read, no matter how bad it was, you give a fair review and stay respectful. That’s why I can thank you for reading and reviewing my all time favorite book even though it wasn’t the best for you. Thank you for being kind it means more than you know.
I’m so happy you loved it so much. That’s so sweet thank you!
I would definitely recommend turning up the speed on the audiobook to help you get through slow boring books! It’s crazy how quickly you get used to listening at 2x speed.
Yes I had to do that!!!
I agree! I do the same thing! 2x speed is what got me through Great Gatsby😂
I literally started sobbing just watching you cry 😂💔 that’s how emotionally unstable i am and now i wanna read all these books just to feel the pain you felt 🥺
The Things We Leave Unfinished was one of my favorite books this year! But I can understand how it’s dense for someone who doesn’t like historical fiction. Great and Precious Things by her might be more up your alley, that was good too!!
Oh I’d love to try that out!!! I loved her writing
I agree!!! Or the last letter but have like a whole box of tissues that book destroyed me ! I mean hard sobbing
'we were liars' is probably one of the saddest books i have read till this day. and it did affect me omg. It was such an impeccable and sad plot twist I really do reccomend
Yes omg
you right!! I´ve seen people say that is boring and whatever and for me it was really sad honestly.
spoilers
got it for christmas and read it in 3-4 hours. i honestly found it boring until she met the liars again. my heart shattered in the last few chapters and i got teary eyed. it’s such a good, sad, and easy read :(
I agree! This book struck a chord in me and I still think about it often months later
wow now I actually wanna read it tho, I never picked it up because everyone said It was boring
But I might need a good sad book rn so guess i'll pick it up soon
Wait stop this is actually perfect timing bc I’m in the mood to cry LOL. I’ve been reading such happy romances and dark romances and now I’m like I need a good cry. Thank u. Read my mind.
We loveee heartwrenching books that shatter our hearts☹️❤
I'm finally glad to see someone else read If he had been with me just to see that I wasn't the only person that could not get this book out of their head but unlike her I couldn't pick up another book for almost a week and spent three days straight crying over it.
Another one is coming out with Finny point of view.
Omg that book hit the feels for days after!
“It’s 13 up it shouldn’t be that heart wrenching” 💀💀
I just finished "if he had been with me" and it is bc you loved it this much that I read it and now I can't stop cryingggggg
Recently I just started reading Alice Feeney thanks to you she’s now my favorite mystery/thriller author.
YAY!!! That makes me so happy
Can we talk about Rock paper scissors?? I LOVE IT
@@fluki1185 same i love it so much it was a good enjoyable read
i'm so jealous of fast readers like you lol it takes me hours just to read a 100 pages😅
SAME
it takes me 3 and a half hours 😂
Frrr.
omg all the bright places was so good and sad, the movie on netflix was good as well!! "He saved her but she couldn't save him"
Omg yes. I cant wait to watch the movie!
Babe when you said you thought if he had been with me wasn’t gonna hurt as bad I wanted to speak to you through the screen & warn you💀 I finished it a week ago & will NEVER be the same ever again
I WISH I WAS WARNED 😭😭😭😭😭😭
All the bright places made me cry soooooo much, I related so much to finch because of his mental health. Loved it so much I went to the movie premiere in LA and saw the whole cast and met the author!!
Omg that is so cool!!!!!
Sara starting my week off on a happy note even if the video is her reading sad books 😂❤
couldn’t agree more
alright, so I literally finished "if he had been with me" a couple days ago. WHEN I TELL YOU I BALLED...I BALLEEEEEDDDD. Girlies I haven't cried that hard since my great-grandma I was SUPER close with passed away. What makes the sad ending worse about the book is that the last mmmm 6 pages? THAT'S when everything happens. You know when you cry so hard you wake up and your eyes are still puffy and your whole face feels swollen? Yep, that was me besties, that was me. This book was insane. I will physically and mentally NEVER recover.
You are my favorite booktuber because you're the only one that can recommend and explain what books are about without giving too much away...I hate when people do that. You're also just so calm and pretty and watching you read got me out of my awful reading slump. I'm 16 which means that I am not surrounded by bookworms because every teenager I know hates reading, and watching your videos makes me feel good about loving books.💕 Who needs friends when you have fictional ones that are so much better anyway?😂
all the bright places is one of my forever favourites! it's so much more heartbreaking though when you find out the author based Finch off of her first love and his short life
Honestly don't know why I enjoyed this sad video so much!!
If he had been with me is the book that has made me cried the most ever… it’s so sad, and so beautiful at the same time, you don’t know how to feel about it
You NEED to read “they both die at the end” its so good, yet it makes you think about your life. I totally recommend
Now you should read only rly happy and fun books for a week!
Wait so true.
@@SaraCarrolli pls pls do it for your next video i love ur channel sm
Yessss I love this idea ❤
this is where it ends is a very sad book i’m not sure if you’ve read it, there are some reviews that don’t love it but personally i cried when i read it
The way I knew
If he had been with me
Would be on this list-
ITS SO FREAKING SAD BUT SO FREAKING
GOOOOODDDDD
(Sequel out now that is from Finn’s pov)
"He should have been with me" truly broke my heart. I thought it was a little slow towards the middle of the book but once we reached the last twenty chapters.. I was in tears. I finished it in the morning on a day I didn't have much to do.. so I thought about it all day. Heart wrenching.
I finished this book but i kind of didn't get the ending i mean fin dies but how can u explain to me in simple words please? Also about sylvia I just didn't get it
@@hijabzahra3184 idk if you're still wondering but basically sylvie flew out the car during the car accident, Finn was fine but he went out to check on her and didn't see the wire that was on the puddle and basically when he touched her he got electrocuted
same. i finished that book yesterday and i was a bit confused in the middle of the book why the cover was so dramatic and depressing when the book wasn’t that sad, but towards the end i started to understand and when i finished it i called my best friend and cried for 2 hours 😢
Wasn’t anywhere close to being in the mood for a sad book until watching this video and now I feel like I just need a good cry. Added If he had been with me on my tbr so fast. Definitely sounds like my kind of book
I love that book
"A breath too late" is an incredibly heart wrenching book. I bawled throughout most of the chapters in this book. It’s short but beautiful. Definitely recommend!!!
The Words We Keep by Erin Stewart made me cry, was one of the best books i have ever read it was emotional and romantic, it had everything that was necessary to get me emotionally attached to the charaters. I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a good cry.
for some reason whenever i’ve read sad books i NEVER cry. it’s concerning! maybe when i buy books in a couple months then maybe i’ll buy sad books that will make me cry. ilyyyyy. ur so pretty
yes me too!! people say specific books make them sob and when i read them i have only a stray tear no matter how sad i actually am😭
It took me days to finish Pack up the moon because it was so hard to go through those letters without feeling pain in my heart!! 😭
All the Bright Places, the book is a sad masterpiece and the movie is so good too
ur reading vlogs r the most calming thing ever
when i tell you i was sobbing at 3 am reading the end of all the bright places, i literally couldn't see. i love this book.
This Is Where It Ends was the only book that has ever made me cry 😢
I felt the same with The Book Thief as you did with If he had been with me. I couldn't stop thinking about it and bawled my eyes out whenever I did. That book truly broke me :(
I read the book thief in english class in 8th grade and still think about it almost 8 years later. it sticks with you
I read the book thief in english class in 8th grade and still think about it almost 8 years later. it sticks with you
i read all the bright places last year and that book destroyed me!! i don’t how i didn’t see it coming but when “it” happened I was sobbing for like 20 mins and had to take a break for a couple days. now i need to read if he had been with me haha 💕
a man called ove is one of my fave sad stories. so sweet and heartwarming🫶🏼
Ugh I thought about getting that one!
@@SaraCarrolli i loved it!! based on your favorite types of books, you might think it’s a little slow, but there’s such great found family and fredrik backman’s writing is *chef’s kiss*
@@lydiasheneman7173Really agree with what you said.
A 36 min video from Sara means a good day 😅
Another good sad book is Paper Butterflies - Lisa Heathfield
Omg! Just finished Heart of the Raven Prince on Sara's recommendation and just thinking about her and she posts 🙌😭
sara never disappoints
I love how much If He Had Been a With Me affected you because Same. That book destroyed my soul. I barely see people talk about this and that needs to change. When I say that I still think about this book every single day of my life and it still makes me sob uncontrollably.
if you need another sad one, The End of Loneliness wrecked me. I read it 2 years ago and still think about it.
I’m actually supposed to study right now but your videos are so relaxing, I don’t even care that I’m procrastinating my history stuff❤
The Netflix adapation of "All The Bright Places" was so fucking disappointing and made no sense to the actual book. They left out major, key points from the book as well! I was so sad
i actually finished if he had been with me today, i tried to convince myself that what i thought was gonna happen wasn’t gonna happen. but it happened. and when i read that chapter i started literally shaking and sobbing.
The newer cover for if he had been with me has a different saying on the back. When I read it I did not expect it to end the way it did, especially with everything that led up to that moment. I WAS BAWLING. I knew it was a book that made readers cry, I was like hm i dont think im going to cry, i think this is going to end the way i want it to. NOPE
i think you should try reading non-fiction for a week! i know it's really pit of your comfort zone (me too) but maybe you would find a whole new genre!! love the content sara!
You should do reading Harry Potter series for a week or reading Christmas / holiday books for a week or reading fantasy books for a week!!! ❤ love u btw
You are like one of the few channels I instantly subscribed whilst watching the first video.....
You have a interesting positive type energy.... Dude loved your content....✌🏻🖤✨
( I don't subscribe to channels I find it highly annoying don't know why).
Thank you so much! That’s so nice to hear! 🤍
ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES IS SO SAD. It's not slow, it has a nice pace to it although, the ending is abrupt is comes to a sudden stop quite literally and it isn't entirely sensible. Despite that small fact, it's a book that will definitely make you cry.
so happy to start the week with one of your reading vlogs !!! some of my fav videos of yours :)
Yay!! 🤍🤍
watching you cry made me cry 😭 and now I need to read if he had been with me
Im currently reading I Fell in Love With Hope by Lancali, so this was right on time😭
Ok, here’s my suggestions for themed reading weeks: genres out of your comfort zone (i know you did one of these, but I really enjoyed it! And you could do diff. genres) or what about backlist books from your favorite authors?
Love those thank you so much!
your hair always looks so beautiful! do you have a routine or tutorial? :)
'they both die in the end' is a book i can not get out of my head because of how much that book broke me.
I am waiting for If He Had Been With Me and The Things We Leave Unfinished to come in at the library. Fully prepared to have my heart ripped out! ILYSM Sara.❤
i highly recommend "i fell in love with hope" by lancali, it will make you cry but it's such a good book !!
If you do thrillers for a week or just thrillers in general you should read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter, I was SHOOK, currently reading The Good Daughter by her and it also has me SHOOK!
I had the SAME exact experience with pack up the moon. I also gave it 2.5. Extremely boring and not my favorite with writing style. But also the ending I cried lol. Really felt that review and made me feel better because everyone raves about it
So fun to watch you find a new favorite book!
My favorite feeling!!!
Literally brings me joy watching your videos 🥰
☺️🫶🏼
I read if he had been with me and it destroyed me. I had such a headache for the rest of the day. It messes you up for sure.
If you’re like me and wanted to read “if he had been with me” after this video, it’s on KU rn 😊 I’m reading it now and I’m hooked
thank you!!!
I love your reading vlogs!!
Thank you!!! ☺️
You’ve reached Sam is such a sad book. It made me cry. 10/10 recommend if you wanna cry
1. All the bright places
2. The things we left unfinished
3. Pack up the moon
4. If he had been with me
I’m so happy you loved if he had been with me. My favorite book ever!!! Watching you cry made me cry 😭 that book broke my heart
listening to sara talk abt long chapters is so real. my current read has a chapter that is 42 PAGES LONG.
hey bestie!! yes def agree with waiting to read a little life when youre mentally prepared, def check the trigger warnings for it bc it is heavy! but overall it was a greatttt read! totally agree w the subjective feeling, i see it alot with my best friend and it tickles my brain LOL. loved the vid!!!! made me want to read if he had been w me so def adding that to my tbr!🤍🤍🤍
never clicked on a video so fast in my life , i love your videos
🤍🤍🤍
will you please make a video of how you make your matcha latte?
omg, the voice has been so deep for the last three videos 🙈😭
I honestly think it’s just my voice now
In the beginning of Pack Up the Moon, I also felt that way because it was just boring and you didn't really feel anything for the characters which made it worse. So don't feel alone on that opinion. I had started reading it a couple months ago, and I still haven't picked it back up.
Oh my goodness! Yes! I was literally SCRAPPING my way through that book. I got 150 pages in and then just dnf it cuz it was putting me in a slump plus I have school. I like the characters but it wasn't doing it for me in terms telling a story.
Yayy! more books to read! thanks for the reviews sara ❤
You should read “You’ve Reached Sam” i litterally starter crying the first chapter
i could not handle that many sad books together i am wayyy to emotional 😂
"Five feet apart" is definitely saddest book I've ever read you should try💘💘
I absolutely adore sad books sm! Thank you for this ranking!
I love All the Bright Places! It's even more painful to know Finch is based on a guy the author loved. The movie is okay enough, but I was disappointed by Finch's characterization & the rushed aftermath of the stuff at the end. The main actors are good though, I did cry, but not as much as the book. I'd still watch it.
Some of my favorite sad books I'd recommend: Bright Side by Kim Holden (& sequel Gus) (humorous too, makes me see life differently; Making Faces & The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon (not too many religious themes, less cliche uses of known tropes, layered, inspirational). I carry messages of these books with me
as soon as i saw this title i KNEW pack up the moon would be included!! haha
seriously one of my favorites
i totally felt the same about if he had been with me, like i was trying to pick myself up with better than the movies so the beginning definitely didnt hit as hard as it probably shouldve. ugh i swear i almost got into a slump but it was amazing bro
Yes you took my suggestion on reading pack up the moon. It is really sad to me but honestly I really feele you with it I couldn't really go through with it near the ending of it
if u wanted to do a sad books for a week part 2, u need to include A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. absolutely tears my heart out every time
ok i want to read it what’s the age rate would you say?
@yousignurnamemarjorie i'd say about 16+. there is one bedroom scene but it's pretty lowkey and isn't super explicit
Saaaame
@@livlinksaw man. my parents only let me read 12+
I didn’t like pack up the moon either. I felt like it dragged at times. I gave it 3/5 and that was generous.
Rewatching bestie Sara’s videos always makes me happy (;
All the bright places is one of my favorite books of all time ;((( the exact plot of the book happened to me with the first person I ever fell in love with so it BROKE me
Omg ❤️ I’m so sorry!
I haven't even read any of those books yet, but watching you cry made me cry. I am overly empathetic haha. I cry when I see others cry.
The grieving process after if he had been with me is so real. I read it in like May and I still think about it and it’s like 4 months later and I still think about it all the time. I couldn’t read for a week or two after because I was still thinking about it
I picked up If He Had Been With Me because of your recommendation. I just started it yesterday and I'm bracing myself for what's coming.
Rebecca Yarros has a book called “the last letter” and literally till this day it’s the only book that made me sob like legit ugly cry.
No pls in if he had been with me I cried my eyes out. The way the ending was predictable but still it was just like the author slammed the sad ending in your face when you were blushing that autumn and finny were finally together. I don't think I'll ever get over it :((
I love these long videos !!! ❤❤
