- For all you sneaker heads out there, we bring you another episode of "Footnotes." This time with Clay Griffin, owner of the largest Es Shoe collection. Clay is what is known as a 'completest', an obsessive collector of something gathering all the necessary parts in totality. Clay is currently looking to throw some money at any owners of the 'Chomp On This K3', but don't be fooled, Clay's collection is immense.

Man I used to drool over a pair of red/white K3’s at my local mall for months until I finally bit the bullet and bought them. $90 don’t sound like much today but for skate shoes back then it was pretty much the limit. I was a big Jordan shoe fan back then and they just spoke to me. Funny just a few months ago I found a YT video of koston explaining that he was a big Jordan sneaker fan and that the k3 was inspired by them. I’d pay big money today for a fresh pair. Always wondered how es’ got away with the air bubble in them because they even had the little pillars inside it like Nike.
I got a pair of Schemes on sale for $25 when I was a kid. I thought I hit the jackpot.

What a huge legacy koston has at eS, they were truly his zeitgeist years in which he pretty much defined an era. Wish i could say the same for Nike, feels like he has hardly stepped on a skateboard the whole time he has been there.

I found my old es Kosten 2 in black leather with yellow purple last week. They are in good condition unfortunately a little bit too small. I also found a lot of skateboarding stickers.. :-)
