I think when Vernon said the salt sniffing thing it was one of those, "spoke before thinking" moments. I don't think he realized that, that comment could come off as him being shady towards Bruno's *uhem* mishap because he probably wasn't even trying to correlate them. Just one of those foot in the mouth thangs lol.
