- In this women's quarterfinal, we have Maria Nichting of Cincinnati, Ohio, a human services worker, and Susan Hirst of Glendale, Arizona, an airforce captain. In the men's quarterfinal, it's Wesley Keck of Arlington, Texas, a firefighter, and Chris Vopatek of La Jolla, California, a bouncer.
Powerball: Contenders try to score points by depositing balls into baskets and avoid being tackled by three Gladiators.
The Wall: The contenders attempt to scale a rock climbing wall, being chased by Gladiators.
Atlasphere: The contenders and Gladiators battle in spherical metal cages. The contenders must stand on scoring pods while the Gladiators try to stop them.
Assault: The contender must attempt to hit a target while a Gladiator shoots at them using a tennis ball cannon.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
Breakthrough & Conquer: The contender must face two Gladiators in this two-part event. First, they need to score a touchdown against the first Gladiator. Then the contender must wrestle the second Gladiator, forcing them to step outside of a ring.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition.

Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

It’s 2:30 am and I’m watching an episode of this with my 9-year-old that can’t sleep. He’s loving it. I’ve had an urge for a couple weeks to watch some old American gladiators and amazingly a couple weeks ago uploads started happening. It was meant to be. Please keep this up. There’s an audience here.
As of last September, MGM and the WWE were in the process of developing a reboot and they were shopping it around to networks/platforms.

@@Dman3827 Hawk, Siren, Thunder. Gold, Atlas (who appeared in some type of speicel event) and Jasmine who was an actual contesent at one time are the ones that have died. However in the case of Jasmine she was murdered by her husband
It’s interesting watching these seasons back, especially Powerball when Blaze (and sometimes Gemini) constantly gets DQed for going above the head, then watching other gladiators do the exact same thing without gameplay stops or DQs.

If memory serves me correctly, I kind of had a huge crush on Lace from American gladiators. Nowadays, I have a bit of a crush on the other female gladiators such as ICE, ZAP, SKY, and DIAMOND. I will also add Electra as an honorable mention as well.
Elektra was a natural beauty, not too muscular, harmonious facial features, and competitive and compassionate.

LMAO starting @ 7:20 (and Blaze was FOREVER getting disqualified in Powerball)
By my recollection, this was the first time Blaze was tossed from Powerball for an infraction (funnily enough, in the episode where two Gladiators were sent off, she was the only one remaining in the game).
and she never deserved it tbh.
To be perfectly honest, that is not right. The other female gladiators would do the same thing but they would manage to get away with it. How the hell Blaze gets all of the blame all the time is anyone’s guess. 🤔😩😫😖☹️😕😔😞😒

Season 2 or 3 had sports balance. When show worked best. If they stayed that way maybe would have been in line with other long standing sports
Yes, Season 3 was the best season with enough new and fun games added. The games added in the later seasons were boring. Plus Season 3 mark the season when most of the OG gladiators were back, even Zap, Lace bulked up and gained 20-lbs. Then came Season 4 where most the OG gladiators had left the show.
You mean to tell me you can literally RIDE a contender but you can't tackle high!?
There was no precedent in rule book for that, but had constantly called neck related tackles for safety.

So true I never understood why Thompson did it, perhaps he was a racist I don't know. As a kid I only watched it because of Blaze, I was such a big Fan of her and when she was gone I stopped watching. I mean look how beautiful Blaze is in that interview at 34:48 wow!!!!!!

Because Blaze threw the contestant from a near rear naked choke, that's how you cripple or kill someone, Diamonds maneuver wasn't something to cause serious injury.
